We loved the decor and the environment, our first thought was how small the place is including parking lot. They could definitely use a larger facility for how packed it was. This is one of the few bars in the area, after 10pm I believe you have to be 21 to enter. Our server wasnt very attentive, it seemed she was working to many tables but she was friendly. The food was relatively good, however in my opinion there was way to much cheese on the Grilled Mac it was almost like they poured beer cheese on top of it. The tater tots that came with that sandwich had a sweet taste to them like they were sprinkled with sugar. The games were fun but a little outdated, I played for over an hour on $10 dollars worth of tokens. Some of the games like the basketball and air hockey were really close to other dining tables, to be honest I was concerned the puck was going to go flying into somebodys food.

I took my fiance here this past Sunday and she is a HUGE gamer and i am a foodie. It was EVERYTHING! I absolutely loved the food and she loved the game selection. We had a lot of fun and prefer this place over any other arcade we have been to in Louisville for games. Only downside is there are a few games down that we would love to play (Knock out and bowling) but im hoping to celebrate her birthday here in June and hope those games will be up and running. Also im not sure what the big deal is about using tokens. We bought 20 dollars in tokens and left with a pocket full after hours of game play. They go a really long way. Most games only took one or two tokens and lasted a really long time unlike arcades that charge 3 dollars for a 60 second game and the food wasnt over priced. In my opinion you cant beat the value and atmosphere was pleasant. We will be back :)

The food was okay, nothing too exciting. We were seated in an area with no AC, other areas of the building did have AC. Our waiter did a good job. Other front staff werent so helpful, we spilled a glass of water all over our table and even though they were wiping down the next table I had to ask for something to clean it up with and they didnt offer to help clean it up. Also, when in the pinball room you could smell smoke from the staff leaving the back door open to go smoke. All that being said the games were fun. A fair amount of variety. It was nice to see $10 went a long way when playing games. Really you go to a place like this to play games anyhow so we will probably be back.

It was like 90 degrees in there because I guess theyre too cheap to pay for some a/c that actually works. I was covered in sweat by the time I left. I had planned to try some of their food but lost my appetite immediately in the heat. It was also advertised as 18+ only, which was a huge selling point for me since there arent any childfree havens in this city. Seriously theyre allowed everywhere and unfortunately this place was not the exception it claimed to be. There were children running around while I was there. I was extremely disappointed since it definitely has potential to be a cool hangout spot. Multiple machines ate my tokens. Unfortunately, Ill never go here again.

Stellar bar restaurant and game room. There is nothing like this in Louisville. Having spent an evening here enjoying craft beer, excellent food and a wide variety of games I have nothing but excellent praise for this establishment. The food is not what you are expecting... Instead they serve fantastic food with a four star chef. I will be recommending this spot for business outings. Additionally this is a great "first date" spot according to bar tenders. Not surprised. The games are varied and thats a good thing. Street Fighter cabinet, etc balanced with an EXCELLENT pinball selection. Highly regimented l recommended. Will be back!

Alcohol is reasonably priced and they have a great assortment of arcade machines that is larger than any other arcade bar in the city of Louisville that I know of. The downside, as seems to be the case in most arcade bars in Louisville, is that the machines require tokens. This needs to be considered when you add the cost of tokens to your bar tab at the end of the night. The tokens came as a disappointment to me as other arcade bars Ive been to such as 16 bit in Cincinnati have games that are free to play. Cost does come with its benefits though as machines open up more quickly at Recbar than they do at 16 bit.

Pretty cool place. Id been once before to drink and play games. Definitely a great atmosphere. Had lunch on this visit. Decent food. I had the Buffalo chicken tacos and my wife has the Cougar Bait tacos. BUT, we ordered the "Wiz" queso as an appetizer. Which was alright. But, it was a tiny bowl of queso and a small basket of chips for $8. I knew the price before I ordered, I guess I just assumed itd be kinda like the chip and queso you get a mexican restaurant wherein you get a decent sized portion of queso and as many chips as it takes to finish the bowl. Spend your $8 on something else.

Fun! Go for the games, add craft beer selection, full bar and adult kids food, and you have a fun night with friends or children in your future. They dont keep their pinball machines up as well as other barcades in the area (zbar does, youll never find a machine malfunctioning or off there) but they just have so many. You can waste a lot of quarters and time here. There was a weird air conditioning scenario when I went though - the room with pinball is strangely many degrees hotter than anywhere else in the building and I dont think its because the machines run any hotter...

I have a great appreciation for what the owners have accomplished with RecBar. It is a much needed, brilliant concept in Jtown. The ONLY reason Im giving 3 stars is because the food is quite simply just average bar food I can get anywhere. While the tacos and loaded tots I had were decent, theres plenty of room for improvement. The menu has a few twists on classics, but nothing was well balanced in flavor or texture. Great menu, but not so great execution. As for the atmosphere, definitely expect loud and overwhelming groups that accompany any arcade.

A fun nostalgic place. The people were extremely nice and pleasant to deal with. I even had to ask a favor about using one of the barstools at the game, so my husband (who is disabled) could play a game and the guy was so nice about it. Did not make us feel bad at all. He said this is your house too, make yourselves comfortable. You honestly have to look long and hard to find a restaurant these days that care about their patrons. Thank you for a fun day!

This place seems to have an identity crisis which is kind of a good and bad thing. It wants to be an arcade, a sports bar, and a nightclub. Children are allowed in until 10pm when it turns to 21 so it felt like chucky cheese while we were trying to watch football that they wouldnt turn the sound on too even though they have at least 8+ TVs all of which were playing sports. Great beer selection and I loved the inventive food names they came up with.
