In comparison to the original Mussels and Burger Bar this location is a huge step back. My wife and I came in for dinner tonight around 7:40pm and I would say the restaurant was at 95% capacity. We were seated quickly but the experience began in a downward spiral immediately. Our table was still dirty and missing items such as salt and pepper shakers. Next when we asked for some bread we were told it would be a $1 charge then when my wife asked for some butter you would have thought she asked for him to churn the butter there on the spot. First, who charges for bread with a meal and second complains when you ask for butter with said bread they are charging you a $1 premium for? Next, when it meals came out they were sub par in comparison to the original location. My burger came on a blackened to the point of charred bun, cold in the middle burger and falling apart consistency. The burger had no condiments and was pretty dry. My fries were cold in their little metal cup and covered with burnt ash as if the oil hadnt need changed in the fryer since St Charles Exchange owned the place. My wife asked for some mayonnaise for her chicken sandwich when placing the order. When no mayonnaise came with her food the waiter said the kitchen had been song this to him all night. Im pretty sure that even if the expediter had missed it the responsibility as a last line of defense fell on him. He said he would go get some and bring it to her but he never did. The only highlight of the meal was dessert which was the Nutella ice cream but it was 3 small scoops served in a bowl made to hold a half gallon serving which left you chasing the food all over the bowl. Waters were not refilled, mainly ignored for the meal and downright disappointed for a first go at this location. Only thing that the new Mussels and Burger Bar seems to have done right is get the decor of the room. My advice to the management would be to cross train with the Jeffersontown location to see how the model is supposed to be functioning. When you are running a restaurant which is not even at full capacity so poorly how would you function at the foot traffic found at the original property. Better figure it out quick before you end up going the way of the St Charles Exchange and your investment is lost.

So... Started with the Foie Gras. Absolutely wonderful... Poor duck, happy me... Beyond that, went with the Argentinean. Spectacular choice beef hand patted patties, yes plural, perfectly grilled with sweet onions sauteed, tart and flavorful chimichuri sauce between patties, topped with the delicately balanced bitterness of the baby arugula and other fresh greens. Spectacularly done truffle aoli added just the right touch as it was served on the side and used a you saw fit. A little or a lot, you choose. Side I ordered, steak fries extra crispy. Much to my surprise, they were quartered potatoes, long wise, deep fried with kosher salt, pepper and spices. Maybe even an egg wash first. Excellently done. Not at all expected, pleased all the more, especially after using a little of the left over truffle aoli. All in all a perfect coupling with a nice middle of the road bourbon and staff who were both pleasant and knowledgeable... Will be back, many times over the next two weeks while I am in town...

This place is phenomenal from the great food to the great service. I ordered a chimicurri steak medium rare. When it came out it seemed more like medium well. However, when I tasted it I was happy with the taste so I went ahead and started eating it. A manager came over and noted that my waitress had thought it seemed a lil over what I had ordered, and immediately offered to have a new one made and told me I could just keep the one I had already received. That is a manager who wants me to make sure things are not just done satisfactory but done right, and the fact that the waitress told them and i didnt have to say a thing shows me that the staff cares just as much about things being done great. I will be back to try some of the other dishes. Everything was so fresh and well seasoned.

Ive eaten here a few times the service of the waiters/waitresses and food is always good. During my last visit however I was highly disappointed with how I was handled by one of the hostesses. I stood there for at least 45 secs before I was greeted/acknowledged. Once I was finally greeted I mentioned that I was meeting a friend and if she could help me to where she was seated. Her response was a shrug of the shoulders w/an eye roll as she stated "I dont know, but your more than welcome to look around" this was extremely unprofessional and offensive. Definitely was not a good look for a restaurant that normally has all around good service.

I love mussels and burgers and have been there before but yesterday I felt very segregated. We was waiting to be seated and more people came in and was seated right away. So I went to ask how much did we had to wait and he stated that he was cleaning our table now, so I said ok. As were going to our seat, I noticed that there were tables available but we was stuck in the corner with the rest of black people. We were the only black people in the restaurant and they stuck us together and we all felt like we were sitting in the black section. I felt like mussels and burgers didnt want us interact with the white people in the restaurant.

I have been to Mussel & Burger Bar at least five times now, and it has never disappointed. The Argentinian? Amazing. The Italian Job? So good. The Cuban? Simple but delicious. The BBB? Oh my pork belly. The burgers are indisputably great. Ill let you in on a little secret though: my favorite, FAVORITE item on the menu is the taquitos appetizer. These perfectly crunchy bite-sized tacos will change your life; each bite has a few pickled sweet pepper slices, some queso fresco, and this heavenly mixture of ground beef and black bean puree. Perfection. Now Im hungry.

Our server was lack luster, not professional and not attentive. She didnt seem to know the menu well at all. We were looking forward to experiencing a great dinner like we had in the past and were really surprised at how it seemed to have gone down hill. The food was still pretty good but pricey, the drinks were very over priced-$8 for a beer! And our service and ambience was quite lacking. The paper towels on the table when getting a $17 burger just doesnt match. There are too many good restaurants in Louisville to go back there again.

Awesome bartender with a great bourbon selection. My Bacon Breakfast Burger was cooked to perfection and delicious! The service was awesome, as was the soundtrack. We had a big group of 10 with a toddler and no reservations and they gave us a private room after just a short reasonable wait. The place looks upscale and there were a lot of power-lunch types there but it was very approachable in casual clothes. We had a slight problem with one of the meals and the manager could not have been any more accommodating, he was excellent.
