Note: Despite Googles current label, Blackbird is very much open. The food is excellent, the baristas are friendly, and the coffee is superb. Edit: The food is still good. Many of the aforementioned friendly baristas are gone, and employee turnover seems to be high and getting higher. Coffee is still good, but the increase in customers drinking the craft beers and liquor has changed the atmosphere. Whether you will think it is for the better will depend on how much bar scene you like mixed into your coffee house scene.

Blackbird is an amazing coffee shop. I have spent a lot of time here. I try to take my son every Sunday. We can sit and play chess, draw, or just talk with the employees. The staff is amazing and is a major reason I keep coming back. The food is always delicious....especially when they have African stew. My only complaint is that I am not a millionaire and cannot spend every day here buying amazing food and coffee. Im working on that though.

This is a great locals place. The food is great (sandwiches, salads, and the best homemade lobster bisque - the pastries are to die for). The coffee is rich in flavor and served by well trained Baristas, The BEST thing is their BEER. The owner is a fountain of all things beer. Every week there is a new micro or specialty beer to try on tap as well as a supply of bottled or canned. The atmosphere is casual and the staff is friendly.

Visited for the first time yesterday. It was gorgeous outside so I needed a place with wifi and outdoor seating for a 2.5 hr social media marketing stint. I bought tea and paid for a piece of cake I wanted to take home. Though I took up a chair for a long time, I was never made to feel like I was a nuisance or had worn out my welcome. I got to do my work on fast wifi while sitting in the fresh air. It was great.

My husband and I drove through Topeka looking for a healthy place to have meat free breakfast options. Blackbird had several menu items for us. Dani, the manager made the veggie quiche herself and it was delicious. As first time guests Dani welcomed us warmly and assured everything was just as we ordered. We highly recommend Blackbirds.

So, im here on halloween, and there is an Elven beauty tending bar. The selection of libations is astounding, and quite frankly, surprising. The service is attentive and well educated in regards to... well, in regards to much more than just what they have on the menu. I will be back, not juat for the convo, but also the menu.

Everything you want from a coffee shop. Good coffee, relaxing atmosphere, nice music that is at a good volume. The location is a little poor though, I wish it was in Minnesota so I could make it a regular place for me. I guess I just have to be jealous of the good folks of Topeka for a while.

Craft beer and great coffee. We were next door picking something up and stopped in here for coffee and ended up getting pint and buying some PTs whole bean coffee for home. Nice atmosphere. Will be back when back home to visit parents.

This has been a go to place in Topeka for me for 5 years now, and I am giving it 5 stars only based on food and beers. The food has always had a consistent good quality and they have always had a very good microbrew selection of beer.

Been a long time customer of Starbucks on 12th and Wanamaker, but they have been out of sugar for 3 weeks. I stopped by Blackbird. coffee today and they put Starbucks Coffee to shame. Looks like I found a home. DELICIOUS!

They made a great dry cappuccino. Very sparse Cafe and they need better artwork for that coffee house feel. Very friendly folks working the counters and Wi-Fi friendly. I like the fact that it had a local feel.

A few years back I went twice in one day . Got coffee twice. First cup I got a free refill. Second cup got charged full price for refill and the owner was very rude. Now I goto Dillons. They have a Starbucks.
