The second rendition of Bluebird is a valiant attempt at the recreating the original, but overall has some work to replicate the entire experience. Located in a strip mall up in North liberty, theyve got a ton more parking than the IC location and have a bit more seating. The inside is very up to date, but lacks the character that makes the downtown locale so charming. That said, theres plenty of pieces of flare on the walls and they seem to be adding to it at a pretty consistent rate. The menu is a bit different from that of the original location, but does have most of the classics. The Krakatoa omelette, amazing french toast, and some great burgers are all available and out in full force here. Notable additions to the breakfast menu include the buffalo chicken omelette. I tried this beast and it was about a 7/10. Not a ton of meat, but good flavor and something different for the morning. The coffee was good and pretty standard. The servers here all seem to be a little on the green side. Ours was having trouble with keeping orders straight, but was fairly knowledgable about what was available here. The service was a lot slower than what weve come to expect from Bluebird and while Im sure theyll continue to improve, it seems that the experience is becoming fairly commonplace. Well continue to come here while theyre working out the kinks, but the Bluebird crew is going to need to step up their game if theyre going to establish an allegiance from the North Liberty folks.

I took my wife and my niece out there on Palm Sunday. The place was packed, but the wait time was only about 15 minutes or so. Both girls loved that they made the chocolate milk & it wasnt just pre-bought. Food-wise: I had steak & eggs. To be honest, Ive never had steak & eggs that featured a coulotte, but it was medium-rare just like I ordered it. My wife had a spinach and feta omelette. This was a very big deal because we had been looking around for places that made her favorite omelette. She absolutely loved it! My niece had biscuits and gravy and definitely looked like she enjoyed it. She was the one that suggested that we try out the Bluebird Cafe. All-in-all, I can definitely say this will become a fast favorite for my wife and I.

The place was great. We had 9 at our table. They forgot one of our meals because it didnt print where the cooks were. We told them that they forgot one of our meals. Brought it out asap and apologize profusely. It was no big deal. But they definitely made up for it. The waiter staff is amazing to say the least. Will definitely return and recommend.

Stop in you will not be disappointed. After reading other reviews we decided to drop in and see what everyone was talking about. WOW, The food and service was excellent! Very fair prices and cute but modern decor. The servers made us feel like we were in our grandmothers kitchen. The food was delivered fast and hot with plenty of fresh coffee.

Stopped in on a busy Thursday afternoon for lunch and was not disappointed. My waitress recommended the French toasted cinnamon rolls, with the addition of chocolate chips, bananas and walnuts. This was a fantastic combination along with a side of bacon. Service was good considering the crowd and I hit the tail end of the lunch rush.

Months ago when we visited for breakfast there was a minor mess up on what they brought to my table and they kindly replaced with the meal I ordered then the manager came by our table to make sure we enjoyed our food and brought us a complimentary cinnamon roll. Not only was the food delicious but the customer service was great!

I had biscuits and gravy. it was the worst I have ever had. the biscuit was an old burnt grands biscuit from a tube and the sausage was cubed and tasted like dog food. my wife had coffee and cream. the cream was sour, another hour and it would have been cottage cheese. her pancake was good though

Bluebird is the best breakfast Ive ever had. Its not just the food thats amazing the service is off the charts good. Even when the place is slammed I get my food right away and they really take care of you. To the bluebird staff, I love you keep up the good work! CUSTOMER FOR LIFE!

Bluebird is usually packed, a line of patient customers waiting outside. The reason the line is patient is because of the quality of service, on top of epic dishes like Eggs Hemingway: Eggs Benedict with salmon. Its always fresh and hot, and custom brewed dirty chai coffee.

Such a great place to go with the family or just to grab a bite to eat and do some work. Very nice staff and the food is great. I just wish they offered a few more options on the menu but other than that I couldnt ask for anything better so close to home

Food is great and service is always on their A game. The only thing is that sometimes the orders come wrong. I am not a picky eater so I never mind but it has happened, minorly, the last 2 times I have been there. Overall, great food and would recommend!!

This restaurant had very good food and great service. They were very good with kids and had an easy going atmosphere. However, if you want Mexican food it is not authentic here. I ordered breakfast enchiladas and received a wet burrito covered in queso.

Well worth the wait if you need to. The food is always great, service is wonderful, and the price is right. Go to the North Liberty location of that is handy or visit the downtown Iowa City location for the same great food.

Coffee here is good. Not a lot of options, but they have the necessities. This place is about more than coffee, lots of non coffee items on the menu. I dont go here often because I seem to have WiFi issues.

Food was awesome but the service not so good. The waitress got our order wrong someone else fixed it and she never apologized. Charged us for the wrong meal and filled my soda with a refill of iced tea.

Corned beef and hash is best ever! They kept my coffee cup full and have excellent omelettes. Atmosphere and sevice was 5 star too. Espresso is best in iowa.
