I used to live right next door and so i used to eat there a lot, mainly for breakfast. I loved how it opens up so early in the morning since i am a morning person. I like how they use real sippy cups for the kids. They did a whole renovation on the inside and it looks so much nicer than it first did. My family and I have eaten there a few times for lunch but there is not a lot if you are a vegetarian. My son loves the chocolate chip pancakes. It is a good place to take the family or friends who are visiting out of town or state.

The West Side Diner is one of the nicest, probably the best restaurant in Iowa that Ive been to. The two best waitresses that I love are Sonya and Jessica. The food gets cooked and served quite fast and is very enjoyable. My favorite appetizers have to be the pickled chips and cheese balls. If you want to go to a place for the whole family with a wide selection the West Side Family Restaurant would be the place.

Whats for breakfast? Typical greeting from the friendly server who took our order. I had my usual breakfast order: dippy eggs (eggs over medium), hash browns, toast and sausage patties. You could get sausage links if you prefer. Coffee is just so-so, like most of the coffee served in Grinnell. Hash browns seemed like they were from a bag-so just average. Eggs and sausage were tasty.

You will not find a cleaner restaurant in Iowa. Whether you are in a hurry or want to take your time the service is top notch and many times you get the food faster than if you were to go to a fast food place. The menu is diverse, and comprised of comfort foods to gourmet dishes. Unless your looking for pizza you wont be disappointed at West Side.

Food was good but was disappointing. We we were served small sandwich of 2 slices of bread and 2 pieces of deli meat with no sides for $10. No one around to fill drinks or even pay. We tried to speak to someone but were ignored.

We stopped here for breakfast on our way back home after a concert. This place has everything! Even frappes and Bloody Marys! The service was friendly and fast, the food was delicious, the whole restaurant was spotless.

Delicious home cooking. Staff and owner very cordial. They stayed open late to accommodate us. Desserts sounded awesome but sizable serving portions filled our traveling bellies!
