I have to say right off the bat that these people have got the concept business down pat. Like all of their other venues in Des Moines the idea is so cool, so well thought out, and yet so, like it has been there forever. Trouble is in each of them the same problems persist. In one the food is decent but the service is horrible, on another the drinks and variety is impressive but the food is dangerously bad. In another the lack of professional managment stands out like a sore thumb. Im sorry to say, same here. The food ideas are good and certainly better than average but the bar does a horrible job at watered down blender drinks and serving warm beer. The service was also spotty. Ill more than likely be back because the concept is so cool and this place has the best patio view in Iowa, but come on. Just once can we have something a bit better than mediocre?

I like most Full Court Press restaurants/bars but I have attempted to go to Mullets 3 times with no success. They really need to get organized. I am never sure if I should seat myself or wait to be seated. The time I waited to be sat, I made eye contact with 3 different employees and no one asked if I was doing ok or directed me where to sit as I stood awkwardly in the entryway. On my most recent visit I sat down at an empty table and was rudely told by the waitress that the table was for someone else and there was a wait, if I wanted a table I should "find the girl in the purple shirt and get on the list". I really want to like Mullets but seriously? I dont feel I should have to work so hard to give a restaurant my patronage.

I expected more selection of fish on the menu, choices are catfish and salmon. My sister and I ordered both, mom ordered the baby back ribs. Everything was delish. Catfish fingers are light and flaky, skip the fries, plain and boring. Smoked salmon with a salad and baked potato, full of flavor and delightful assortment of lettuce. Baby back ribs with baked beans and Cole slaw.. Tender and fell of the bone, beans.. spicy sweet with bacon. Slaw is amazing, and I dont like slaw. The other customers were a bit loud for a noon time weekday.. But the Bloody Marys looked good. Food was worth it.

Mullets has a nice craft beer selection, and friendly staff. The breakfast burrito and "Morning Mullet" (biscuits and gravy over eggs and hashbrowns) really make for a good calorie load for the day. At lunch or dinner, enjoy the excellent BBQ from Woodys Smoke Shack: the ribs, brisket, pulled pork, etc. The upper-level deck outside makes for a great view of downtown Des Moines. Parking can be tough to find and if its hot out, dont expect the struggling A/C unit to cool you off much.

I dont know what the hype is all about. It was very slow in restaurant and the service was average. Four of us went in today and all of our fried food was over done. It all tasted like the fryer grease hadnt been changed in months. The chicken po-boy which is supposed to spicy was flavorless. The fried fish was really fishy and had a bad after taste. All fried items were dried out after being overcooked. The potato salad had no pep. Not worth a visit from me again.

As I was looking for breakfast places in Des Moines this quickly jumped to the top of my list of places I must try and Im so glad I did. I had the Pigs and Pancakes and hubby had the Chorizo Hashbrowns, both absolutely outstanding. Service was friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was so much fun. My only disappointment was I didnt have an opportunity to return to see what deliciousness they offer for lunch or dinner!

Went there for the first time for breakfast. They have great Omeletes! They are one of the few places open for breakfast near downtown Des Moines. Great atmosphere and staff. Not sure wasup with all the low ratings unless they went at a really busy time. Really hit the spot today when I went there as I was really hungry and got plenty to eat for a good price. Definitely recommend!

Interesting theme for a restaurant. Mullets is decorated with liscence plates and pictures of the mullet hair style. The food is pretty good, but the big draw for me is the location next to the bike path. Great place to stop on a long ride to enjoy a meal and a cold beverage. Plus, the view from the top is great. Would highly recommend!

A friend has been telling us for months we have to try Mullets. We live 80 miles from here, but one weekend we made the trip, and we were not disappointed. The food and service was top notch. made from scratch goodness. They were getting a pizza oven installed, we are going to go back and try their pizza soon, Cant wait.

Close to principal park, food met expectations. A lot of flys inside unfortunately and since theyre was a game it was extra busy and unfortunately took 15 min for a server to come by. Which I understand its busy, wouldve been nice to just say "be with you in a moment" and not left sitting there ignored.

The food is decent. The drinks are fine, but the wait staff seems like they hate their jobs. No smiles, unfriendly, bordering on hostile. Ill likely return because on previous visits we had a much better experience. I hear great things about weekend breakfast, so I think Ill try again then.

This place is nestled in such a beautiful corner of our beautiful city of Des Moines. It has great views, great service, and wonderful atmosphere. The food is also terrific and merits several trips back to try everything at least once, but by then youre hooked and a regular patron.

It was incredibly busy when we went there but the wait wasnt long. We got our food in a reasonable time (like 20 minutes). It looks kind of bland but the food tastes really good! The bloody Mary was pretty good, not too spicy. Price was also really great. $26 for two plus a Bloody Mary

one of the places i like to take folks when they want to eat and drink and talk. Patio is nice and good seating inside too. Food is good, drinks keep flowing without having to wave down a waitress and they have always been very good at tweaking entrees for special food needs too.

We love Mullets. We have eaten there every Sat. for several years. Their Eggs Benidict with the smoked ham is the Bomb! So so yummy! Our service has always been wonderful. We do go early as it can be very busy. You can eat inside or out. Its by the river and the bike path.

Kenan provided excellent service, when paying he was the first server in a very long time to check my card that states "See ID" and he asked for it, he noticed my military ID and also gave us 10% discount. The food was great and couldnt ask for better service!

Excellent food, and great service. The cheese curds are on point. Unfortunately, (and I know its not the restaurants fault) the day I was in it was so hot I couldnt stop sweating. Kinda detracted from the experience, but I will definitely be back again.
