My wife and I decided to give this place a shot due to reviews online. Upon walking in you realize this place is a unique place. You order at the counter so there are no waiters or waitresses. After looking over the menu and taking it all in we decided to just get a few things and see what we would like. My wife got the kimchi and bacon krunk rice. I got the tot-mi and the banh-mi. My wife really liked the rice it was spicy but not to spicy it for sure wasnt a normal fried rice. I liked the banh-mi I really enjoyed the beef it was cooked just right. The pickled veggies were a great addition. My wife and I both loved the tot-mi the cheese was awesome. The pickled veggies added a nice touch. The pork was tender and had great flavor. I would say this is a great place that I am sure I will be back to. If I had one complaint it would be that the menu isnt the easiest to understand and they didnt explain it well either even after telling them I had never been there before.

Where are the reviews for this bomb-ass place?! Okay, so, Krunkwich caught our eye because of its vegan menu. Which is outstanding, by the way. They have a few tried-and-true staples (the Burnt Ends sandwich could be the best cruelty-free sandwich in the world), but their menu constantly revolves and evolves...and what you have is a place where the choices keep you on your toes WANTING TO TASTE EVERYTHING. Shame on you, Krunkwich for contributing to the food porn of the world! ;D Seriously, though...the ramen is superb, the tots are sensational, the sauces and spices are totally out of this world. We moved from DM months ago, but Ive stayed subscribed to their FB page, and the dishes they display oftentimes tempt me to travel 1,000 miles just to feast like a beast. This place needs to be a chain. Honestly. Think on it, Sam. ;D

If you want Ramen better than youve ever had, get to Krunkwich. I know the name is weird ... and the staff that I talked to do not know the origins of the name, but the ramen is top notch. I have visited Japan times in my life for business and I like to try the original version of westernized menu items like sushi, ramen, udon, and any local favorites as well. Authentic Japanese Ramen is one of my favorites, and Krunkwich knows how to do it. I have tried 4 of their different Ramen bowls and every one was unique, delicious, and reminded me of wondering down the streets of small Japanese towns and finding a local noodle house to enjoy ... except here everyone speaks english. LOL If youre looking for a place to try for lunch, I highly recommend Krunkwich!

Came here on 8/9/17. 1. Noodles were cooked correctly, werent hard or too soft, good texture. However, they had no depth of flavor. 2. The soup tasted overwhelming of corn and bland chicken. Again, no depth of flavor from neither the soup not the chicken. It tasted like the chicken was just boiled, with a pinch of salt and thats it. The soup contained other greens such as lettuce and green onions, however, they made no impact to the soup. The combination of ingredients wasnt there. I feel like it lacked creativity and passion. The only reason its 2 stars is because they at least cooked the noodles correctly. Sorry, but I will not be returning. Thank you. Edit: I ordered the #6. Also, it says there was miso in it; 404 no taste of miso found.

I love Krunkwich, and basically anything Chef Sam creates. Its probably my favorite restaurant in Des Moines (depending on the mood). The ramen is delicious, and theyve really perfected their noodles since I first visited, because I probably would have only rated 4 stars based on the earlier recipe I had. Ramen is my number one choice (always with an egg added), but Ive also tried and enjoyed the fried rice and a couple sandwiches. The tater tots come in every delicious combination you could want, and I get them every time. The vegan and gluten free selections are fantastic, which makes it easier to accommodate some of my friends and familys dietary needs. I recommend to everyone who comes through town.

I ordered the #6. It came after the rest of my families food (pet peeve), had the weirdest flavor, and barely any at that, and to top it off was lukewarm. No spices and the broth was awful. How do you make ramen without a good broth? Thats the foundation! No matter what kind of soup the broth better be 10/10. Then the toppings, my god. Some how the chicken was dry. Clearly boiled and poor quality. You know when you get tough chicken thats kind of rubbery? Thats what it was like. This is no surprise considering its white people cooking Asian food.

Iowa is great for friendly customer service, but kinda blah for vegan food. The burnt end tots had all the right flavors, but they werent married well. If the onions were sauteed in the BBQ sauce and topped with sour slaw, the dish would come together. The dandan noodle dish was really underwhelming. Nothing positive to say about it, except maybe that it had a good texture profile, but not a complete texture profile.

I was going to rate it 1 Star for not being authentic ramen from glorious Nippon. But they have a picture of a cat with little half moon smiley eyes just like in my animes so 5 stars! For real though, hearty Midwest food / Korean / Japanese fusion works super well, and the staff is always friendly when I come in. Great place.

Wow, so delicious! I had the #1 Krunkwich Ramen with the pulled pork, pork belly and perfectly cooked soft boiled egg. My friend had the Bibimbap and it was equally scrumptious. Service was quick and friendly and the price was very affordable. We will be back next time we are in town for sure.

Ive eaten here multiple times and it reminds me of the newer fast food chains like Chipotle. Its all pretty good but nothing blew me away. The prices are right and the staff were nice and knowledgeable. Restaurant is clean but fairly loud, parking isnt great on Ingresoll but thats normal.

Insanely long wait for a bowl of noodles. Expect to sit here in this rat hole for 30 minutes. They dont bring food out together also...5 10 minutes apart per person. Update. Just got food and its down right gross. I got the basic chicken ramen and its terrible

Maybe Im just biased because Ive lived in Hawaii, but this is not what I expect from a ramen place. The noodles are way too thin and their "extremely spicy" ramen is hardly spicy at all. The lighting was also really dim. They do give a lot of meat though.

Though the food seems a bit pricey, it is worth it! Large portions of real ramen that is booming with flavor. Their new location (Ingersoll) is much more spacious in the inside and more welcoming. A hidden gem (that is growing) in Des Moines.

Ramen was good, but it was better at the old location. I do plan to come back though. The dishes are always filling and flavorful. I just wish for stronger flavors and after my last visit Im honestly looking forward and for a new ramen spot.

Lets be honest. I always have and always will get the same exact thing. The Krunkwich Ramen with the Bulgogi Tots. Why branch out when everything I want in a bowl of ramen is right there in front of me? Absolutely delicious. LOVE this place.
