The Dinner Bell has been a Salem favorite since the 1940s. It is an authentic old-style diner with a long counter lined with bar stools and small tables along the walls. The friendly staff do the cooking right behind the counter. The menu is the American traditional country home style cooking and includes burgers, fries, and shakes. The signature item is The Dinner Bell Mini-cheeseburger. They have a daily Dinner Bell Plate Lunch special, typically with meat loaf, mashed potatoes and gravy, and fresh corn or green beans. They are only open for breakfast and lunch. Overall, the food is average, the prices are very reasonable, but the atmosphere is priceless. by jmarshall65

It is always like stepping back to a simpler time. You are greeted as you walk in with a friendly smile. Table talk with another table usually happens which is part of the experience of this true dinner. Always clean and well kept and the mini burgers are like no other. Check it out, you wont be disappointed!

Good, simple diner-style food. You can order one or more eggs, breakfast meats, pancakes, all á la carte at amazingly low prices. Omelettes and combo deals, too, and the usual lunch-time suspects (burgers, etc.). Great value for the dollar.
