My wife and I had a pretty bad experience here recently. last Saturday we were in plainfield and always wanted to try this place out. Looked pretty cool from the outside and seemed steadily busy there. Well, we will never go back again. The only reason I gave it one star is because I had gotten an order of pancakes to go and those were surprisingly good. Other than that, horrible. When we got there, there was a 10 minute wait for a table of 2 even though there were about 8 tables open. but thats not a big deal. We sat outside since the weather was nice. In the time we waited for our drinks we saw 2 tables walk out cause they hadnt been waited on and said theyd sat there for about 15 minutes. that shouldve been the first sign. While we waited, one of the waiters there (maybe 16 years old) started making jokes to people about how the last table only left 2 dollars and how he felt rich from such a great tip. just being very sarcastic the whole time. He thought it was hilarious. No one else did. When we finally got our food it looked decent. They forgot half the order. We ordered loaded fries as an app and they came out at the same time our food did. I could have made better fries at home. The cheese was halfway melted, which you could tell they were just microwaved because the cheese came off completely in one waxy looking thing. My burger was ok. No flavor at all really but not awful. My wife said her burger was disgusting and only had a couple bites. Her pasta salad (which came out 10 minutes after the rest of the meal) looked old and was a weird texture and just could tell it was probably no good anymore. Neither one of us were wanting to even try it. One thing that really made us sooooo mad was towards the end of our meal. There was guy there eating by himself. He got his food then about 5 mins into him eating, the manager came up and asked if he would move seats so they could sit a bigger party at the table he was at. He seemed confused but said ok so the manager carried his food down about 3 tables from where he was. Maybe Im just being picky, that just seems very rude and unprofessional to me. When we got home both of our stomachs were upset and my wife actually starting getting sick from it. Were not overly picky eaters either. Mcdonalds is better than the burgers we got. Overall if you want good pancakes go here, other than that there is no way in hell id eat here again.

Our family decided to take a road trip today just to visit the Oasis Diner. It was our first visit and we had a lot of fun. Our waitress, Mary, was really awesome. Not only was she super nice, but she gave us great recommendations for what to order. The wait was minimal, which blew me back as I expected a mainstay like this to have at least a 20 minute wait on a Saturday night. All of the staff were very friendly and the manager came around to visit everyone, which is always a great quality. Kid friendly (although make sure to bring your own things to entertain your children like coloring books, etc.). Atmosphere was superb and exactly how I envisioned it. Food was fantastic. While I typically dont eat burgers I had to try the bacon cheeseburger as I feel that you cant really judge a diner unless you have a burger. Fries were great and seasoned just perfectly. Others had a cheeseburger, chicken tenders (all white meat and breaded to be delicious), and the mozzarella cakes (think Arbys hashbrown shape with gooey mozzarella inside). Lots of history in this place and we were lucky to actually sit in the old diner part. 5 stars for this place for the food, atmosphere, and service. Thanks Oasis Diner for helping our family have a special afternoon road trip!

A true gem! My husband and I visited the Oasis for the first time this afternoon. You know it is going to be good when the parking lot is still packed at 2:00 in the afternoon. After a very short wait to get a table we were greated by our friendly and attentive server, she asked if wed been in before and when hearing we had not she let us know that breakfast is served all day and gave us an overview of some of their favorite dishes. My husband had the Ruben with a side of fries, a cup of chili and a diet soda. I had a short stack of pancakes w/ blueberries, a side of sausage patties and an iced tea. The food was amazing! My husband and I have found ourselves going out to eat less and less over the years and cooking at home instead as often were simply disappointed with many restaurants. I could not have been happier about the quality of the food and the care it is obviously prepared with at the Oasis. So many of the items on the menu are listed as homemade or handcrafted, from the bakery items to the soda to the corned beef, I could go on.... Long-story-short go there, its worth it!

I really wanted to like this restaurant. My wife and I had driven by it many times and were excited when we finally stopped to try it. We arrived around 2:30 and the floors were filthy, as were the 6 tables around us that were never cleaned the entire time we were there. On the floor there was silverware, napkins, smears of food and an entire packet of ketchup that had been stepped on and had been sitting there long enough to dry completely solid. When our food arrived the pasta salad looked like it had gone bad so I took a small bite and it was rancid. The server tasted it and confirmed that it was rotten so I sent my meal back. I didnt trust the quality of the food at that point. The 2 people I was with found their food satisfactory. The manager came over and was very nice, apologetic and was quick to take my meal off of the bill. On a positive note, the hand-crafted sodas were great. Unfortunately I wont be returning. I really hope that maybe it was just a one time bad experience or that they turn things around because its a cool, historic landmark restaurant.

This place was an experience to say the least... we were seated and the first thing I noticed was the stickyness all over the menus and table top. Our waitress came over and took our drinks orders. I had the sweet tea (yuck) and my husband had their homemade cola. I dont know what was worse, the flat soda or the heavy hand of sweet sweet syrup (also yuck). We then ordered our food, I the biscuits and gravy and my husband the giant pancakes. My biscuits were over cooked and hard and my husbands pancakes were full of raw batter in the inside. The chef came by to every table yakking their ears off. Whats with this guy? People come to enjoy their meal, not find out where you can from and about your family... news flash no one cares. This place should worry about their service and quality of food, rather than win you over with their lack luster charm. OH, and they just keep piles stacked high of dishes in your table. They should invest in getting a few bust boys since the girls dont want to do their job. Needless to say, I will not be returning.
