My husband and I went to Gray Brothers yesterday. It was packed as usual. The meal was over $28. I got turkey and dressing and he got fried chicken. The turkey seemed to be a turkey roll. The mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans and turkey were so salty I could not finish any of it. The dressing was dried out and hard (they put a new pan out immediately after spooning up mine). I have had better TV turkey dinners! My husband said the chicken was okay, reallly small piece and had the same complaint about the potatoes and veggies - TOO salty!! I will give them one thing - they have excellent pie!! We asked for coffee (most places interchange tea/coffee refills, but not them). We had an additional $3.78 charge for 2 cups of coffee. We remembered we were not impressed with the food the last time we went. We agreed we wold stop there for dessert & coffee, but never another meal!! What is the attraction?

We had dinner November 8, 2014 at 4:00pm. I had chicken, green beans, mashed potatoes with white gravy and a banana cream pie. My boyfriend had fish, mashed potatoes with brown gravy, green beans and a salad. This morning at 4:00 am I started having stomach pains. I wont go into detail, but running to the bathroom several times to get rid of the poison that was in my body how I spent the early morning. I believe that I have food poisoning from either the chicken, white gravy or the banana cream pie. I tried to call today November 9, 2014 to let someone know and my call went straight to voice mail AND the mailbox was full! Since I cant contact anyone at the cafeteria this morning, this is why I am leaving this review.

The cafeteria is a rare experience in dining these days. I dont know much about the history of cafeteria eating, nor Gray Brothers in particular - but I must say that I was not disappointed with Gray Brothers Cafeteria. My sister and nephew were visiting from out of town and I wanted to take them some place that said "Indiana" in the way it served, was built; several of my co-workers recommended this place. My sister and nephew really enjoyed it, and it was something that became another reason for coming back to visit again - all the way from Seattle (WA). The fried chicken was outstanding and the mashed potatoes were as "good as moms". If you are in the Indianapolis area then you really need to check this place out.

If your not from Mooresville you will probably never understand why we love this place so much. The food is always as good as your grandmothers food (Just about bc no one can beat g-ma) Its pricey but its more of something to treat yourself to. Beef Manhattens are the best besides the chicken and pie. Also I read another review that mentioned they were cussing and were asked to leave so because of that they wont be coming back and Id just like to say its a FAMILY establishment. No duh your gunna be asked to leave bc you have a potty mouth. Ive been coming here since I was a toddler and I have to say theyve always been family oriented and have had great service.

The food at Grays is good food even though I feel they are a touch high on their prices. The other day my son was getting married and I was told on short notice that we had the honor of buying the reception meal. No prob, but no one would take a short meal for 50 people so I called Grays and no problem I ordered mashed potatoes for 45 people roast beef for 25 and roasted turkey for 25 and 6 cream pies. Then they told me the price would be $544.53 I thought you have got to be kidding me, but I guess thats what happens when your told late about it and they know you will buy it.

Tueday evening for 5pm dinner. We sailed through the line. The food all looked very tasty. We had chicken livers, and salmon patties. Wow!!! The sides were all gorgeous and perfectly seasoned. The green beans were very notable along with the scalloped potatoes. Everyone had muffins: blueberry, chocolate chunk and cranberry were all scrumptious! The service was spot on and not too intrusive. It had been years since I ate at Gray Bros and other than the distance, I could not think of why! An all around enjoyable and entirely tasty experience.

Always a delight to eat here. I love their meatloaf; it doesnt feel too dough-y like many restaurants, thickly cut, and meaty. Fried chickens are good too, thin, but crispy crust. Juicy meat and cooked through. Pies of our selection is strawberry shortcake pie (I think they called it that? but ton of cream. So its like a strawberry with whip cream) and pecan pie. We usually like their mac n cheese but cheese was disappointing this time. Little granulated? Stuffing was bland and bread-y once so Ive been avoiding.

I have eaten at Gray Brothers many many times over the past 35 years. I started eating here on the way back home from Indianapolis went on long-distance ambulance runs with my partner. It has become a Mainstay stop anytime that I am near Mooresville Indiana. Not only are the choices plentiful but the food quality is amazing and can only be described as home-cooked quality. You absolutely cannot pass up trying one of their many pie options. This place is simply not to be missed if you are within 20 miles of it

I really dont see what all the hype is about the long lines very expensive food that is just average theres supposed to be famous for their meatloaf Im not sure about that it tastes just okay its kind of blah and it seems to me like the food is never up on temperature by the time you get it to your table its usually lukewarm definitely not my favorite place to eat but you have to understand also this is all Mooresville is got besides fast food for comfort food I give it about a 5

Very disappointing. I was looking forward to visiting during our annual Indy visit. So much for trusting the appearance on TV. The stuffing was more like mashed potatoes... The green beans were mushy... And the pork loin was very dry. The gravy was the only reason it gets any star at all. I hoped for more than a second rate cafeteria experience. Oh... And the staff? Not very hospitable at all. I felt as though I was intruding on their time.

Ive been going there since I was a child so we got the Family Dining Area with fireplace the last Christmas we ate there. I always got Salsberry steak or roast beef when I was a child. Then one day my grandma gave me some of her fried chicken so that became my new favorite. I have tried many other dishes and they are all great here. They also have yeast rolls, pies and cakes.

Nowhere Ive ever been have I found genuine comfort food so carefully prepared to satisfy the stomach and the soul. Me, I go for the meatloaf, because nothing says home like a generous slab of meatloaf pretty darn close to what grandma made in her Central Michigan farm kitchen. But try anything you think youll like, and I dare you to go out the door without a grin on your face.
