Me and my family have gone to this restaurant for years now. When we have family come from out of town, even Texas this is where we go. Well we had a family dinner there over the weekend and the sevice was absolutely horrible. The two waitresses were rude and acted like they were over their job. We sat without water almost the entire meal. To top it off, my cousins meal was messed up. He ordered the tenderloin and received the chicken sandwhich instead, they told him that his meal would be free and they would make him the tenderloin he ordered. No big deal. So in the mean time he started to eat the chicken sandwhich which they left at the table and told him he could keep, they brought him what he originally ordered. Then when the bill came they charged him for what THEY said would be free. My grandmother told them that they had charged him and mentioned very nicely that she said that his meal would be free, and the lady very loudly and rudely said "EXCUSE ME?" when she was the one who said it. Then she toke the check and went back and then the other waitress came back and said that they could either take the rest of the food he had in his to go box or pay for the meal.....REALLY?! So rude and distasteful. Why take the food when all your going to do it take it away and throw it in the garbage?! After saying his meal would be free. I have never in my life seen such unprofessional employees. Sad that me and my entire family have spent so much money there for them to be snappy and rude after saying a meal would be free and then snapping at us, and last but not least go back on what they said and take food out of someones hands to throw it in the trash.

My husband and I dined here on a Tuesday evening in January. The food was terrific and service outstanding. My husband enjoyed the creamy onion soup and his catfish filets were perfectly breaded and cooked. I enjoyed the pan-fried chicken and it was worth every calorie. Our sides were mashed potatoes, buttered corn, and green beans. The mashed potatoes are absolutely the best you will have anywhere. The perfect consistency and flavor! Included with our meal was dessert and we both had ice cream with sauce. The peppermint icecream with hot fugde was akin to a peppermint patty and a nice ending to a lovely meal. Our service was very friendly and competent. The restaurant still had Holiday decorations up and they were stunning. We took several pictures as the decorations were so gorgeous. Our server encouraged us to visit the upstairs of the restaurant and view the lovely antiques. What a treasure! My husband and had fun walking from room to room and viewing the antiques and the amazing wood floors, beamed ceilings, curved doors, and other details you just dont see in homes today. We were each given a bag of complimentary Kettle corn on our way out the door. Ive dined all over the work in my travels - from hawker markets in Singapore to 5 star celebrity restaurants in LA and NY and I have to say for the experience, dining at Kopper Kettle is right up there with the best!

This is a 5-star restaurant !! Ice water is waiting for you at the table to the Warm damp towel to clean up after eating. Service, surroundings, staff make this a place to go to as a SPECIAL TREAT !! The food is EXCELLENT ! This is NOT like any other restaurant you may have gone to in central Indiana. It is off the beaten track, but worth a visit. If you go to a chain restaurant one place, the one in another place is just the same. If you like whole kernal corn, green beans, or whipped potatoes, you should get your fill here. The shrimp are the largest Ive seen. If two or more order chicken, it will come piled on a plate. Family dining at the best!! Not cheap enough to eat every day. But worth a special visit ( I went for my 23rd annivesary ) my wife told me we have to come back again! This is an experience and great food. Be sure to visit the bedrooms upstairs to see the decorations, many are antiques. Visit the web site for their menus and hours. Reservations may make a difference between eating or going away if they are busy or around holidays.

The fried chicken was the best part of the meal. I have had "The Bluebird chicken" and it was like theirs. Corn and green beans were canned (seriously what good restaurant serves canned vegis??? Thatis cheap to me) potatoes were good....soup ok...tea was served unsweetened and with sweet n low, again...seriously splenda is more money but serve the best for your prices, or at least serve sweetened tea. We were informed when server came to table everyone must order an entree. My husbands and my bill was $48. I had weight loss surgery and I still eat off his plate when we dine out. I wouldnt have gone if I knew before hand that I HAD to order a meal. I dont see why they couldnt have just brought his meal to him and let me eat from his chicken and my ordered a small salad. We wont be back, too expensive for mediocre food. As far as the house itself, I live in a neighboring town in a 117 year old home in a historical area, but if someone is not used to that type of home, it has its charm.

This is the classic example of a restaurant that could really be great, and maybe were once , they have a reputation going back deca des, as I have always heard great things about them. Tonight, party of eleven, to a person the concensus was overwhelming that the food and service was sub par. Dirty plates, cups, cold food, 3 of 4 steaks were editable, 1 obviously not, I could go on and on. We certainly dont know what challenges these folks face in running this place, but hopefully, they will take the time to seriously evaluate everything top to bottom and improve to the level that their reputation has been in the past.

This place is very unique. It is in what I believe was a centuries old Roadhouse, or possibly a private residence. Either way the food is most excellent and service is as well. Meals are served in what is called family style. All of their dishes seems to be based on old Hoosier family recipes. Nice place to go for a special occasion. Not required but most people dress a little nicer for this place. Everyone in this area goes there at least once in their life, more frequently if they can. Nice antique shop on site as well. Location and grounds are beautiful in spring, summer and especially autumn. Dont miss this one!

One of the best fried chicken places in the area. 100 year old Victorian style mansion turned into a restaurant. The chicken has sometimes been hit or miss, size wise, but always very good old style pan / skillet fried. Sometimes the chicken pieces are very tiny like hot wing size, other times theyre normal sized chicken. The mashed potatoes and gravy are great, as is the corn, green beans, and rolls. The servers wear old style uniforms and there is outside dining during nice weather. Good place to eat and a decent price as expected for this type of place and food.
