So Ive been here before, sat at the bar, and had a pretty good time. However, tonight, my sister and I walked in. Sat down at a table and went unserved for well over 20 minutes. Our server finally came over after we waited another 5-10 minutes. He brought us our drinks in a timely manner. We also wanted food and he brought menus as well. It took again over 40 minutes for him to take our food order all the while other tables he was serving got their drinks AND food before he even took our order. I wanted my sisters experience here to be a good one yet the service was just poor and lacking. Shes a nurse and Im a former server. I understand things happen but neglecting one of your tables while clearly serving others right in front of them is unprofessional. Not how I wouldve spent my Friday night.

Food is good and prices arent bad but man, the servers are rude. It wasnt that busy and we were a large group and we had to hunt down the server. We needed to add additional tables and staff were rude and told us we were annoying because we needed additional spots. Due to our lack of service some would get drinks straight from the bar and then our server reprimanded us for doing so. She got some orders wrong and when pointed out she told us we were wrong. She was more or less a B.

As first time patrons, a friend and I approached a vacancy at the bar where there were 7 others engaged in lively conversation. After making eye contact with the male bartender on several occasions, we waited patiently for him to approach us. After 10 minutes of being ignored, we left. The bartender was more in engaged in jacking his jaw than caring for his customers as witnessed by the virtually empty glasses of those already sitting at the bar and the ignored customers.

I always sit at the bar...never had bad service. ( just a quick glance at other comments regarding poor service seem to reference the dining room). Atmosphere is hipster. Food is good...different choices compared to the usual pub grub. Beer selection on tap is limited, but always interesting. Music is just whatever the bar tender on duty likes: one night jazz, the next different bar tender and all jimi hendrix. Can get pretty loud at times; hence 4/5 stars.

This is hands down my favorite bar in Lafayette, and they have amazing food as well! If you go here check out the seasonal food and drink menus because they are delightful and change often. I also love the atmosphere. If I had a complaint it would be that it is pricey, but not undeservedly so. The cocktails off their seasonal menu are around $10 but they are definitely worth it.

GREAT PUB. Food was excellent. Beer was excellent. Servers were excellent. Also great at night when its only bar to sit and talk over a few drinks. Only recommendation is to be careful about going on nights when a band is playing. Some of the bands... are just a lot of noise. But I still respect the bar for giving local bands a place to play and have an audience!

Great experience all around. Fast service, great food, large drink menu. If you had a long week at work and want to kick back, have a few drinks, eat some great pizza, and have some loud conversation, this is the place for you! The food is reasonably priced, cocktails are a little pricier than comparable places, but are fantastically made!

Visited this place for a staff diner. Atmosphere was low-key and relaxing. Wait staff was very accommodating to our groups size and took fantastic care of us. Food was very good. The spicy pizza (El Diablo? I forgot te name) was fantastic, but couldve used a little more spice (I love spice). Beer selection was good. Prices are ok.

The Black Sparrow has great food and a nice selection of booze. This place has character...and yes, hipsters, philosophy students, artists, and professors seem to love this place. My only wish is that they had some type of beer special more often...like something good on draft for around $3.00.

Pretentious and seedy. Although the beer selection is good and the food standard for the area, the staff acts like theyre doing you a favor while you pay them. Whats worse is that the place presents itself as an upscale joint, but some really trashy fights broke out both times I was there.

Im here now. Due to the utter creepiness of Google, Ive submitted to its request to take a picture, ect. The Sparrow is great. If you dont like it, you need to reevaluate your life and your choices to this point. Once completed, come around and enjoy a Special. You wont regret it.

My favorite Lafayette pub. Very good food and an ever changing choice of beer on tap. Definitely a hipster bar, but pretty comfortable for a punk. No TVs is a huge plus. You can usually find some interesting people at the bar. Love the graffiti in the bathroom.

A great atmosphere, coupled with amazing food and an ever rotating draft beer selection, makes this one of our favorite spots to wind down and visit with friends. The staff has always been courteous and helpful when trying to make a beer selection.

Delightful food and lots of drink options undone by mediocre service. Attitude of the server I was assigned didnt seem appreciative of customers at all, and was extremely nosy oftentimes butting into our conversation unsolicited.

Good food and definitely a bar for the "hipster" crowd. They host brunch on the last Sunday of every month. It gets crowded when busy, so prepare to wait for a seat or arrive early. Much of their food seems to be locally sourced.

This place has a fantastic beer menu. Im more of a whisky drinker, but even I found things to try with their deep selection of specialty brews. Also, I suggest trying their Cuban Sandwich. Its the best Ive had in twenty years.

Im not too crazy for Black Sparrow. Granted, Ive only been a handful of times, but Im just never overly impressed while there. I just always think how Id rather be at one of the other great downtown Lafayette bars.

Fantastic food menu. Simple yet elegant flavor, always fresh and delicious. Sunday brunch on the last Sunday of the month is a treat. Variety of beers on tap is nice for the adventurer to experience new brews.

The music is usually just about right, loud Enough to mute nearby tables, but not so much to drown out your friends. Drinks are always just right. Altogether a very relaxed place to spend an evening.

Sunday brunch is usually rather amazing. Local food and beer, usually at least one vegetarian choice. Most busy days you wait just a few minutes to get a table. Friendly staff. Good atmosphere.

A very nice place to get drinks in both small and large groups. The drink prices are also pretty reasonable and the food is great, though the kitchen closes relatively early. Love their fries.

Awesome bar with great craft cocktails. Great ambiance. They have a wide variety of bourbon and whiskey in general. Cocktail menu rotates seasonally and the website might not be up to date.

Had breakfast which was pretty good. Come at least 15 minutes early so you can get a place to sit. 5 minutes after the restaurant opened all the seats were taken for the breakfast special
