The only sushi eatery within walking distance of the Indianapolis Convention Center. They do not post their prices on their web site. They do try to greet you at the door - as it should be in a real Japanese eatery. Miso soup is ok. Wild mushroom appetizer at $14 was on the bland side. Super white tuna (escolar) sushi - $8 for two pieces. Sumo roll (spicy shrimp and avocado inside, salmon outside) was nothing special at $14.25. Dinner for one with miso soup, one roll, and three orders (6 pcs) of sushi plus draft bear totalled to $60 before tip. Ah - and their ginger is colored, and they do not have freshly grated wasabi. You can also get sashimi there ... at $24 for six pieces! Nice decor is the only good thing. Go and spend your $60 per person somewhere else - at Fugo de Chao you can get fabulous meat, ad libitum, at the dinner time. As much as I love and prefer sushi over to meat - I have to say so.

We went to Mikados last night. We sat at our table for half an hour before anyone even came to get our drink order. Then when our server finally got our drink order, he brought us a different type of wine than what we had asked for. He said he just assumed we would like this kind better. We were at the restaurant for a total of two and a half hours and only had interaction with our waiter four times. He only had four tables, and every time he came by his section, he would interact with one table and not even look around to see if anyone else needed anything. Several people had to get up themselves to get things they needed or ask other tables to share things, like soy sauce. Our bill for the two of us was over $100, and I expected exemplary service for the price of this meal. Very disappointing! Ill stick with Ichiban on the south side! Their sushi tastes better and is priced better!

Ive eaten at probably 15 to 20 sushi restaurants, in various states and cities, and this place is by far the most overpriced. Neither soup nor salad come with sushi platters (which is pretty much standard). The quality of the sushi is mediocre at best, bordering on poor quality. Parts of it are pre-prepped ahead of time, and looks and tastes similar to the sushi that you find at a chinese buffet or Krogers. A 13 piece platter is $28. Does not include soup, salad, rolls, steamed hand towels, seaweed salad, appetizer, nada - just 7 pieces of nigiri and 6 pieces of premade tuna roll. Miso soup and ginger house salad is an extra $10. Oh, and a small beer is $6.50 The service was excellent, and the staff was attentive. When you first walk in, the place has a smell reminiscent of gas station bathroom. Yeah... it smells a bit like a urinal. Decor was nice though.

Oh man, everything we ordered was fantastic! In regards to the price it is a LITTLE on the higher side depending on what you get but I mean for 2 people we spent about $75, mind you we ate way too much and were stuffed! Im not so sure why the others are complaining so much. That price included a miso soup, seaweed salad, spicy octopus, spicy tuna, salmon, a house roll, and their "sushi mountain" (2 rolls on a plate stacked up like a mountain covered in their shredded crab.) If you went to Kroger or Marsh and bought 6 rolls at 7-8$ a pop and a seaweed salad that would still be about 50$ from a GROCERY STORE that could not come close to matching the quality of Mikado. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and insightful about everything we asked about including his favorites and never once tried to force a high dollar item on us. I highly suggest this place!

Dont eat here as a group larger than 6-this includes children, or you get an automatic charge for gratuity (I think we figured it was about 18%). The service was lacking considering we were charged automatically for poor service. Not just slow service, but the waitress was extremely snooty. We asked about options for children and were recommended fried rice or chicken teriyaki for the kiddos (at $17 per plate)...after reading a recent review where there was a mini meal a child was photographed eating. We had 4 rolls and a chicken teriyaki, 2 iced teas and a Sprite. Dinner was nearly $80 and sushi does not come with miso soup, only entrees which I find extremely cheap. Coming from the west coast where sushi is fresh and reasonably priced, this place definitely couldnt compare. We wont be back.

We went right before the lunch rush. They seated us immediately and everything was great. However, when our order came, the waiter only brought half of my food, and had forgotten to order the rest. I told him immediately, and we waited another half hour for the remaining sushi. We had to leave, so just said forget it, and paid for what wed consumed. I left hungry and cranky, because not only did I not get enough food, but the waiter kept putting his hands all over my shoulder. I have pretty low standards when Im getting food next to a busy convention center, but Im too creeper out and annoyed to ever go back.

Its Indianapolis, you want sushi, you cant expect Nobu, right? Honestly, the fish here is usually fresh but feels like they dont order from the best places because the flavor is often just ok. They way they mix in flavors and toppings seems to be there to cover the fact that you arent getting grade A cuts. But sometimes you are just in the mood for sushi and in downtown Indy, this is one of the few options. I would have given 3 stars but I gave 4 for one simple fact - they have Shochu which is rare for sushi bars of this caliber and Shochu makes me very happy!

While visiting the area we stopped at Mikado. The first concern is that the place is almost empty on a Friday night and the streets are packed with people walking around. We walk in and notice that chair covers are torn, the backs worn through, etc. After being seated, there is food on the floor and the booth wood is dirty. We know this probably a bad idea but press on. The food lacked any real flavor, most items overpriced, however we had good service. The place never had more than a handful of tables with customers. We definitely will not return.

This place while being expensive for the area is a pretty good value for quality fresh sushi. (especially if youre used to paying big city prices) Ive eaten at other sushi restaurants in Indiana and have always tasted the familiar flavorless bite of maguro that has either been frozen too long or of an extremely cheap cut. Freshness and quality is incredibly important for sushi, and Im glad that theres at least one place in Indiana that does not compromise this. This is a great all around Edo style sushi experience.

Food was okay, though I did feel like it was a bit over priced. I placed a to go order, though the decor was nice when I went inside to pay and pick up food. Id try it at least once more. I would also reccomend they offer a separate salad choice. Theirs is nutritious mixed greens and fruit, which is nice but crisp cold and crunchy iceburg salad goes better with soft textured sushi. Just an opinion. The beef appetizer is interesting though Id probably not order again. Nice for experimentation though.
