While traveling through Columbus, we discovered El Nopal. What a GREAT surprise! Being from Michigan, we had never heard of this restaurant and trying new things can be scary. We walked in and noticed, first thing, how clean the restaurant was. We were promptly seated and our server was actually rather pleasant. He was very attentive and prompt (though, we found out he was a Patriots fan, we didnt hold that against him! :) ). Dinner seemed to be closer to authentic (another bonus) without being "slopped" together. The portions were MORE than enough and I left wishing we had a location closer to us! Bring one to Michigan! :)

I went to this restaurant for lunch today the food was very good, however, I am rating the restaurant a two because the server spilled salsa all over my pants. He did apologize and I excepted his apology. I did not get upset with him as I understand accidents do happen. What bothers me and the reason for the low rating is that my meal or even my drink was not offered free of charge as compensation for salsa being splashed all over my pants. I even asked about it and the server just shrugged his shoulders and said "sorry no". I now Im back at the office with salsa all over my pants!

Ive been a big fan of El Nopal Mexican Cuisine for many years, and often would request to eat there when I would come home to visit during my college years. The owner and staff are very good at what they do. The kitchen staff cranks out dish after dish to accommodate the foot traffic. Ive personally never had a bad bite to eat there, and it is AUTHENTIC! Out of all of the Mexican restaurants in Columbus, I believe El Nopal is the best, offers the freshest ingredients, and the best experience overall.

Offers great food at a reasonable price. Food is well prepared and tastes great. Portions are very large; my girlfriend and I typically split an order of fajitas which is more than plenty! This is possibly asking too much as no restaurant in town offers this but I would love El Nopal even more if they had in-house, hand-made tortillas. They use the same tortillas that can be found in any Mexican grocery store, but still taste great nonetheless. There just is nothing like tortillas hechos a manos!

When the server serves you up another soft drink before you even finish your first one, you know youre at a good place. Chips and salasa right when we sat down. Food was amazing and authentic served in large portions. Waiter was ontop of his game the whole time and had no issues changing little details even after putting our order in. Great place, would love one up north near me.

My boss and I were driving through and stoped here for dinner. I have a very restricted diet and often struggle to find what I need. I was able to have an amazing dinner!! The staff was all very friendly and helpful making the experience unforgettable. So sad we dont live closer but will definitely stop here again on our trips!

We have been coming here for years. We have gotten to know the staff and they are really great people! The food is always excellent and the service good. Prices are in line with all other restaurants which is about 45 to 55 dollars for a family of 4 depending on what you eat or drink.

We were raised eating Tex-Mex food in the Southwest, so we were absolutely delighted to find a place as good as El Nopal in Columbus, Indiana. The food is amazing, authentic, and very reasonable. They have a great atmosphere and a very attentive and knowledgeable waitstaff.

---worst Mexican restaurant in Columbus Indiana--- first I want to say my husbands steak was spoiled. he was sick for 7 hours after he ate his food. if you order a burrito, the only thing you get is meat... and if you order to go you do not get everything you ordered

My fiance and I go here more than any other restaurant. The food always comes out quick, is always hot, as soon as you are seated someone is bringing chips and salsa, and the servers are always friendly. Food is great, and servings are big.

I ate here last year and I was surprised of the good Mexican food they have here! I recommend this place 100%. Try the Caritas on Chile Verde if you like spicy! ! Service is one of a kind! All personnel take care like your family! !

The staff is super friendly and polite, even if you order carryout. We normally have just a few tortilla chips until our food comes out, which is timed just right for us. Plenty of options and the quality is great too.
