LOVE, love, love this place. Ive only had the fish and oysters, but they are the best around, hands down. Never been to Mike Linnings but Ive seen their prices at the state fair and I would not pay that. At Clarksville, the food is always consistently delicious - the breading is light and crispy and whatever you order is always fried fresh and served hot. The oysters are my favorite, always done to perfection. The fries are nothing to write home about, but I recently learned that you can substitute the fried onions for no extra charge, which are thin sliced onions, breaded and fried crispy. The hush puppies are amazing and are clearly house-made because they are never quite exactly the same, but they are flavored with chopped onion and black pepper and are crunchy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside - delicious. They also have potato salad and cole slaw, which are both decent. Plus, the amount of food you get for the price is pretty amazing, and we are always practically stuffed when we leave. Whenever someone asks about great fried fish in the area, this is where I send them.

Ive been visiting Clarksville Seafood since I was around 10 years old. My Nanny (Grandmother) used to takeep me often and now my Mom and I enjoy it. I hadnt been there in several months and I have to say that I am very disappointed. The "fresh" fish on the menu is the only fish available and it is not specified what type of fish it is. I brought it home after over twenty dollars spent and the fish had an odd odor that is different than the fish smell that I remember from there. The fish looked similar to cat fish which was never specified. Thw taste was odd. Im not saying that the place is terrible bit its completely different than I have ever remembered. I will be visiting other establishments for my fish from here on out.

I never write reviews. But Clarksville Seafood has been one of the worst fish places I have ever eaten at. I am sorry to say this, but.....This food was horrible. The fryer oil had not been changed in days, fish and the frys were extra dark brown. The oil looked so dark that came off of the fish that it looked like used car oil. The fish had also been sitting for a while and held way to long, the crust was very saturated in grease, not oil. Grease is the by product of oil that has been over used. The filet of fish its self was saturated as well. When we walked in you could automatically smell pungent fish! Real fish houses do not smell at all! I hope that I just caught this place on a bad day.

We should have known when walking up the sidewalk it was covered in filth and cigarette butts. Walking in felt like entering another dimension and not a good one. The guy at the counter was knarly and rude but I kept thinking maybe the food will make up for this circus side show of a "restaurant." I asked the guy If they served cod and he replied "yeah" with a slackjaw look. I get home and the bag is soaked in grease, the fish looks like catfish they caught out of the Ohio river, the hush puppies were a strange color and tasted like grease just like the fries. Paid 11$ no bread no condiments no napkins. Simple put the place should be shut down for the sake of humanity.

Best Fried Fish in Louisville...period! Fish is flown in fresh daily and quite simply - it blows away all of the other more popular "fish houses" in town that people like to throw around as being Trendy/Fashionable to say you ate there (Mike Linnigs, Stans Fish Sandwich, The Fish House, etc, etc - while those are all admittedly good, they just cant touch Clarksville Seafood). The downsides: the building is outdated, its across the river in the forsaken land of Indiana, its not fashionable, its not trendy....but it serves the BEST seafood you can get short of catching it & frying it yourself.

Sure, the place may not have an interior like the Red Lobster, but if youre a person who appreciates delicious fried fish and onion rings without pretension, Clarksville Seafood is for you. Their hot sauce is a blend of horseradish and mustard that is not extremely spicy but it is certainly delicious. Anyone that gives this local landmark a 1-star review has no place in Kentuckiana. In fact, ask anyone inside that restaurant how long theyve been eating there and theyll probably say 20 years or more. That should tell you something.

It may be me or it may be the cooking style but it seems to have changed only most recently. Ive been going since the fish dinner was $1.10. I cant get past ordering the fish and onion strings or whatever they call them now. I do know the long time owner, Mr Copp died a few years ago so some things have changed do to that. Their tarter sauce is not like most. It is mild and creamy and enhances the fish rather than distracting from it.

I love the fish and onions. One of the staff members gives me a hard time and Ive asked other locals who enjoy this place and they all say the same thing. Its the guy with the news caster hairstyle. He has a nasty attitude as if its bothering him that you are ordering your food. I do not like this guy simply because hes a snob. If you are really that unhappy with yourself then just switch jobs.

I hate that I even have to give it a single star. This is undoubtedly the worst seafood place I have ever experienced. The shrimp is tough and overcooked and the fries are greasy crinkle cuts. The cocktail sauce which I had to ask for was old and dried up. And $9.29 for this? Good heavens? I, unlike Schwarzenegger, will NOT be back. I could not on good conscience recommend this place to anyone.

The portions were small for the price and it was super greasy. I used to eat here almost every Friday, years ago. After a while, my husband and my family we took there on one of their visits to our home swore the fish and strings I cook at home is 10 times better. I agree. Clarksville Seafood is NOT worth the trip across the bridge from Louisville. Save your money and cook your own.

I have gone to Clarksville Seafood for as long as I can remember and I hope it never closes. The food is wonderful and the onion rings are the best I have ever eaten. I did notice one bad review and all I can guess is that this person cannot be pleased by anything. It isnt the Red Lobster decor, but I dont go for dacor, I go for the food. If you like fish, youll love this place.

Ive eaten here many times and its always been good. Yesterday was the exception it smelled like a nursing home inside and the fish smelled like it was very old. We got carry out and I was hoping it was just the restaurant that smelled so bad but sadly it wasnt. I couldnt eat it it just didnt smell safe. I really hate to say anything bad because I used to really love eating there.

Everything was slightly over done. The breading was identical whether fish, mushrooms, or scallops. The hushpuppies where seasoned almost exclusively with black pepper and not the classic of onions and garlic. The building interior needs to be remodeled. Duct tape seals some windows. It is clean in general, but is just in need of an overall updating.
