Dont ever come for drinks on Wednesday. The bartender is an absolute moron. He made us pay on one card and asked us if we were smart enough to figure it out. This was after he served THREE people that I was with wrong drinks. He also told us we could split the bill, after which he decided he didnt want to do (because he has three brain cells). This place has gone downhill under new management. Price for food is absolutely ridiculous and its not even authentic. El Amigo in Valparaiso blows this dive out of the water. Will not return.

This place know what they are doing!!! Do you want an authentic Mexican meal? This is the place to be! They have plenty of room to accommodate a big party or just 2. I was pleasantly surprised to see a bar & patio in a corner spot of a small strip mall. This place has it all. The food was delicious and plentiful. To be honest I had my reservations about a small town Mexican restaurant in Chesterton, IN but look no further. Thank you for the wonderful meal and atmosphere! Mom, you do have some competition after all!

I must have had the same bartender as the woman below me. I mean, this guys an idiot! I think I could have done a better job. After a couple drinks (that the bartender messed up), we ordered some food. The cheapest entree was around $10. What a joke! $10 for beans in a can, disgusting rice, and flavorless chicken. I didnt know this place was under new management. That might explain why everything was as bad as it was. Id been here about a year ago and it wasnt all that bad. Wish I could say the same now.

Food was good but the service was awful... After the host got us to a table our "waitress" never came to even take our drink orders... Another waitress came by and noticed we were setting there with nothing and ask if we had been waited on and we said no..... So she took our drink order our supposed waitress still didnt come to our table... So the other one took our food order!! Our waitress finally came by to ask if we needed anything.... Really ?! Not sure that I will go back there again!!

I was served a Margarita with a FLY in it.. Middle of winter makes you wonder where the fly came from. What really is upsetting is that I gave the drink back to the General Manager! to replace it.. He didnt offer an apology and didnt refund or discount my drink at all. I left a comment on the comment cards by the door, and I was told by the more than sweet server that the owner reviews them. I sure hope he does. They wont see my service again, and I will pass the word.

Went there today and had a "burrito" or thats what they called it. It literally was just a steak taco that they threw some cheese on top.when I got it the first time it was even folded like a burrito. On top of everything my bill was 9.63 I gave him 15 so I can get some change back for a tip. The waiter automatically kept my 37 cents and gave me just 5 singles. Hope he enjoyed his 37 cent tip

Food was decent. Waitress was awful and slow. She didnt understand what people at our table wanted. I didnt get what I wanted. An Ala carte quesadii. One person didnt get the tortillas that came with the meal and another ordered a beef taco salad and got chicken. A fourth person vowed shed never go back. After we were done she didnt bring all the checks to the table and I could got on.

My server Fransico was very rude and rushed us out of the restaurant after the bill was paid.. He continued to send people over to ask if we were done and kept walking by giving us dirty looks... We just wanted to have fun and enjoy our time at el salto but apparently he was in a rush to get us out and make more money.

Out of all the El Saltos in NWI this one is by far the worst. Multiple times Ive eaten there I got food poisoning. The food isnt good at all either and there are better local places to eat in the area. The only positive I would say they have is that every time I have eaten there the staff was kind.

This Review comes after 3 visits. Everything from Service to Food to Cleanliness is sub-standard ... ESPECIALLY the attitude of Employees. The exterior of this Restaurant is much nicer than the inside. I recommend looking in Chesterton for a better experience. - Article_86

Got carded there one time for margaritas, didnt have my drivers license on me but had a valid military ID with birthday clearly printed on it. They refused to accept my government issued ID as a significant proof of legal age and there for I will not return.

I ate there on 10/06/2014 and ordered Carnitas Express for lunch at the Chesterton location. I got food poisoning the next day(Did not eat anything else that day) and missed a day of work. Needless to say I will never eat there again! Neither should you

Bad..bad..bad service it took about 40 minutes to make the food that they never brought out the waiter had a very bad attitude we tried to talk to the manager but he didnt show up! In the end we walked out from the Restaurant . .never going again!

Used to eat here a lot!!!! Recently took my family from out of town here and the worst experience the table next their son have a dead baby frog in his plate of food it was jorrible to hear and they diddnt even comp their dinner.

Really good food but absolutely perfect service our cups were always filled and plenty of napkins. The waitress made sure to go around and not over ourban 2 year old son with the food and drinks. I have never been happier.

Ordered steak burritos to go and got 2 steak tacos for each dinner instead with barely anything inside the 2 tortillas! The picture speaks for itself and we probably wont order from there again.

Great local chain. Food is delicious, and innovative. Interior is beautifully planned, and the service is wonderful. This is one of our regular stops (cant get enough of that Burrito El Salto!)

Great Mexican food here! Service is friendly. Outside dining, sometimes with live entertainment! Very clean place. Price is fair. Ive been here MULTIPLE TIMES and never had any issues.

The carnitas are very good but as a Mexican national they need to improve the salsa. I was expecting a really spicy salsa ant one tasting as many other salsas in the US.

The guacamole isnt that great, but the salsa is good. The drinks are huge, and the pours are generous, but I prefer to judge restaurants on food. The food is merely ok.
