Unapologetically authentic Chinese food. They wont twist the way the food is prepared to meet American palate. Sichuan pepper is really numbing and buzzing, and some dishes are prepared with half plate of chili peppers. You wont find Americanized "Chinese food" items here. If it doesnt taste like enat you are used to, its because what you had before was not really Chinese food :-) Its far from ideal when compared to a restaurant in China due to lack of fresh exotic mushroom, etc. But its the best you can get in a small town in North America. In fact I would even say its better than most of the Chinese place in China town of metropolitan iTunes in NA. The service is extremely fastasthy have at least 4 chefs running the show all the time. 7 dishes, 10 minutes, you will have the spread freshly prepared on the table. Be brave and order something you never see before, and enjoy!

I have been to Chengdu in the Sichuan province before and the food at Red is very similar to the food I ate there. They completed a renovation some time ago and the restaurant looks very nice and modern now, with new menus with pictures that make selection much easier. The food tends to be spicy, obviously, and authentic. One of my favorite restaurants in Bloomington, the only thing I would improve is the service, which is occasionally inattentive. .

YUCK! Spring rolls tasted like spoiled cabbage & the fried rice reeked of rancid oils. Perhaps the nasty food we got from Red can be attributed to the fact that we had it delivered. We were hungry - but still couldnt eat the food. Called the restaurant, and basically got laughed at, with no attempt at customer service or rectifying the situation. Disappointed & will not return.

Modern take on authentic Szechwan. Amazing food, beautiful dining room, and reasonable prices. Service was friendly and fast. Menu has many beautiful pictures, plus all listings have descriptions in Chinese and English. Heat level is also very clear in menu, which is nice. This was an exceptional experience!

If youve never been here, I highly suggest one of the cultural gems of Bloomington. The food served here is not your average watered down Chinese food. Come with a large group and order family style. Youll have a lot to try and a good time in general!

This place is relatively new but its become on of the best chinese restaurants in town. Prices are reasonable and the quality is very good. They have renovated the place completely and it looks very nice. Ask for the dish with eggplants! Its great!

Another new Sichuan place in Bloomington - opened Fall 2015. I wouldnt say the food here is better than Szechuan Garden - just a bit different. I would say this place is slightly more upscale then Szechuan Garden.

Best authentic Chinese food in town! Hands down. If you say otherwise or decide to eat somewhere else youre just flat out wrong. Make the right choice and eat at red restaurant immediately.
