The service here has always been decent and the food is OK. However, yesterday I called in a to-go order and was told it would be ready in 10 minutes. I showed up in about 15 and there was a girl at the counter on the phone. She NEVER looked at me, said a word or acknowledged me in any way. I watched her walk to the kitchen after a few minutes, still not even saying "Ill be with you" or anything similar. She stayed in the kitchen for a good 10 minutes before another waitress came over just as 2 customers walked in. She never asked what I needed and proceeded to seat the other 2 ladies. I was stunned that this was even happening. She finally asked if I was with them, which I said "no" and told her I was picking up an order. She gave me a look as if she thought I was stupid and then headed to the kitchen. I saw her and another worker glance at me several times and she slowly came back and mumbled something and then went back to the kitchen. I was so shocked to be treated this way that I didnt know what to do. I waited 5 more minutes and she brought a bag to the front, left it on the counter and walked away. No one ever rang me up and after a few more minutes of standing there feeling completely unwelcomed, I finally walked out without my food. I have NEVER experienced something like this before. The staff was beyond rude and now I understand why this place is never busy. Theres a reason that there are so many other Mexican establishments in this area. I will take my business to them instead from now on.

I was at El Ranchero in Ellettsville last night with friends, and when we went to pay I had a gift card I had gotten at Christmas. I bought a 50$ gift card & the guy said you also get a 10$ gift card for free! I was happy about that but when I tried to use it last night they said it was not found. So I explained about how I got it after buying the 50$ card. So 3 different people tried to get it to work, by this time I was pretty aggravated & said forget it! So then 2 of the employees started talking to each other about it in Spanish, while me, my friends & other customers were standing there! I thought that was rude also!! So again I said just forget, Ill pay!! My friend even said you should take that off!! Its only 10$ and thats bad business!! We had also left a very nice tip!! But between the card not being any good & the employees discussing it in Spanish like we were not even standing there, Ill not go back, or be buying any more gift cards there, and Im pretty sure my friends wont go back either! Thats pretty good, they tell you but a 50$ gift card & you get a 10$ free!! You just wont be able to USE IT!!

VERY RUDE!!!! I have eaten here on at least 6 occasions (buffet) & the food was average. However, the service has never been what I would consider friendly & today topped it for me. With no one waiting in line & no “please wait to be seated” sign, my family sat ourselves at an open table in the front of the restaurant so that our special needs child could watch cars & people coming & going. When the cashier (maybe hostess or owner) approached our table she scolded us & said “next time wait to be seated”. Obviously we didn’t stay & we’ll never step foot in this place again.

@SHERRY ok if they speak spanish to each other its their right and is not rude its their culture and ur at a Mexican resturant.. i dont see why thats rude. u speak English right to other english people.. not rude to others that are forgein.. its their first language they learn maybe they didnt know how to speak perfectly n prefer to sort it out with each other and not look a fool trying to speak another language in fron of u. its a mexican restaurant nobody asked u to go there as an American person they do not have to.. jus sayin

Good prices and a festive atmosphere is what makes Do Ranchero stand out from the other restaurants in town. They have good food and huge margaritas. Every diner is greeted with a smile from one of the wait staff as you enter the door. Usually youll be seated right away but there have been times that youd have to wait. Take out orders are accepted, call ahead about 30 minutes before you arrive and itll be ready when you show up. They have an online menu for your ordering convenience.

Consistently good food and service. Imported Mexican beer on tap served very cold, good margaritas. Maybe not perfectly authentic for seasoned travelers to Mexico, but quite good by Midwestern standards. Friendly and attentive servers. Quite reasonable prices for generous portions. Often able to accommodate large parties better than many other restaurants. Very busy at lunchtime on Sundays and often busy at dinnertime on Fridays and Saturdays, as might be expected.

Nasty nachos and terrible food. Dont go here, its nasty I had it before. You might as well go to Taco Bell because its nearby and it tastes way better. Also the service is very bad. They shouldve never reopened.

Food? Worse I have had in the Bloomington area. There were large chunks of avocado with the skin still on it in the guacamole! And service? Nonexistent.... Never going to the one in Ellettsville again.

Food came out quickly, hot and portion sizes were good. The margaritas were AWESOME! The wait staff was patient as we were unfamiliar with their menu. Overall a great out of towner experience!
