Here is the short of it. If you want to try organic and natural foods and dont mind spending extra money- go to this place. The food quality is good. Their prepared food both the hot bar and the pre made sandwiches etc taste pretty good. THe hot bar is fixed price at 6.99/pound. premade sandwiches are 6-7 dollars. made to order sandwiches are about 8. you can get all your grocerries that you would normally get here in an organic version... expect to pay 25-50 percent extra. Also has decent selection of organic produce including fruits, vegetables, eggs, milk, meat. 5 start if you dont mind dropping the extra greenbacks.

I agree with the reviewer who said that this place is overpriced on produce. Paul needs to calm down. What kind of loser calls someone a "tard" on a google review? Anyways, Bfoods seems a lot more like a store than a true coop. I dont know if I simply go at bad times, but there are rarely employees available to help me, which makes me feel like the staff is overworked. That being said, Im glad that Bloomingfoods exists. I may continue to shop Bloomingfoods for bulk items that I cant find at Sahara Mart, but Ill be sticking to Sahara Mart for organic produce; the prices are unbeatable.

Since theres no "average" category, I had to choose "poor/fair" because "good" is too much of a stretch. Bloomingfoods is overrated and over-priced. I buy six items or so -- and pay $30. I congratulate myself heartily if I manage to spend less than $40. I have on several occasions purchased goods that have transpired to be out of date or whose quality seal has already been broken and which I have therefore had to discard. And like the other reviewer, I am dismayed that Kroger is currently closed.

Their food is WAY overpriced. More times than not Ive mistakenly bought food off the shelves there that had already expired. They lobby to push out any kind of competition (Whole Foods and such) which would lower prices for the consumer. There is one other Health food store here in town known as Sahara Mart . They have not been able to shut this guy down only because he was once a Bloomingfoods employee. I recommend eating healthy but you are better off spending your money elsewhere.

Bloomingfoods started as a place where locals could buy healthy food at a reasonable price. It was a co-op and for the people. But it has sold out and turned into a high priced yuppie establishment and prices itself out of the range of many folks. Bloomingfoods has over expanded with the building of fancy new new stores to attempt competing with Starbucks and Panera Bread. Go to the original store on Kirkwood and see what the place should be about.

Just visited the 6th street location. I couldnt believe the difference in moral there! I used to go there and everyone seemed happy and helpful. Today there were few emplyoees, all seemed unhappy, wait lines were long...it was just a very unpleasant experience. Im sure Luckys Market is hindering their business, but you should be trying to keep customers not make them never want to come back!!

I like the selection at all BloomingFood locations better than Luckys Market and Sahara Mart. However, the prices are very high. Be real! $7.99 a pound for a salad bar? Its an OK salad bar, not $7.99 worth. The staff at the main store and 2nd Street store are friendly, but the Near Westside store has a bit of tude. Im just not convinced yet the whole "member-owned" thing is not a scam.

There is no place better for a quick lunch, to grab local groceries, or to hang out and enjoy the Btown culture than Bloomingfoods. Specifically the Near West Side location is fabulous. I love the hot food bar and the seating area, both inside and out. This is definitely a place to bring visitors to Bloomington to show them what our quirky town is all about.

Every time I eat here there is good hot food available. Sandwiches are as reasonably priced as anywhere else in town that Ive been to, especially considering the meats and breads they use. Some items in grocery are more expensive(and some are less) than at the bigger chains. The beer and wine selection that is crammed into this space is surprisingly good.

Fresh.Local.Organic. Failure to honor that motto. Some organic is available. Fairtrade bananas most of the time. Equal Exchange coffee all of the time. The real estate is too small. Bfoods is totally missing the market. Despite many locals telling them what they want, they adhere to a failing model. Makes me sad. Coops are better than this

I like it there but they are far more overpriced than many other places. I often try to get everything I can elsewhere. While their organic food does look better than I see at other places I just cant being myself to go here as often as I use to. When they expanded more than they should have they lost something.

Definitely a great little store, but the selection is very limited. I dont think I could ever do my full shopping there. But otherwise, its a nice place to get a couple of things, especially organic produce and premade items.

Im in Bloomington visiting, wanted to eat some healthy food, and our hotel receptionist recommended us this place - AMAZING!! So many products to choose from, everything looked fresh, loved it! Going back again today! :)

Good selection of bulk items, including organics. Lot’s of fresh fruits and veggies too. I wish they would stock free range beef and chicken. They sell “local” meat. But it’s not labelled as being “free range”.

To be fair, I think the concept is good and I like that they are involved in their community. However, they are extremely overpriced for their products. Sure, we are said to be getting quality but is that the case?

Some things are over priced, but it is expected. I love this place. The salad bar and hot bar are awesome. The sushi in the cooler is good for not being made to order. Ive never bought anything I didnt like.

The buffet table offers really great and healthy food. It is a little pricey but you get what you pay for. The seating area can get really full during the lunch hour but otherwise its pleasant and clean.

its a failing business. a good try, poorly managed through the years. dont expect much, a hipster craving a dragontofuspinachunicornbatbar sandwich is typical, no more bacon on the breakfast bar.

I thought co-ops were supposed to be cheaper than excessive profit driven machines. 18.90 is what this simple lunch cost. Damn people. I could have gone to a nice Italian restaurant. Augh.

The staff is helpful and friendly but underpaid. The food is priced for rich people. Its really a buyers club rather than a co-op. It seems the town is now big enough to have a real co-op.

Bloomingfoods is a community co-op, and has high quality options. The downside is its small and somewhat more expensive. The produce area is not great either, limited and expensive.
