All of the food here is excellent! The restaurant is small and the dine-in experience is quite limited. The value is much more in take-out for a family dinner or get-together. The meat does not just fall off the bone. This is a quality I generally prefer, but I do not miss it with the ribs here. They make up for it with taste and the BBQ sauces selections are second to none. The only down side on the ribs is that St. Louis style are only available Mon-Thurs and Baby Back Fri-Sun. My favorite sauce is definitely the Carolina Sweet Mustard - even if you do not normally like this style of sauce I still recommend giving it a try! The Apple-Bourbon is a very close runner-up. However, dont just quit at the ribs. From the brisked and pulled pork, to the smokey pit beans, cole slaw, cornbread, man-n-cheese bites and fried pickles: I have not tried anything from here that is not great tasting and fairly priced. The River Bender is probably my favorite burger from anywhere at the moment! They also sell all of their sauces in-store. I refuse to buy BBQ sauce anywhere else since I found that out. This gets 5-stars based solely on the food and value!

FABULOUS FOOD AND EXEMPLARY SERVICE! My wife and I hosted a rehearsal dinner for 80 people when our son got married. We are not from the Chicago area and needed to find a caterer for a pig roast. The online ratings for Steamboat BBQ sold me and we decided to go ahead with John and his crew at Steamboat after a couple phone calls. From the outset, they were extremely helpful and responsive. The day of the event was hectic--and John and Joe were incredibly accomoating. They arise on time, set up quickly and even helped out with our non-food set up. In fact, they even ran out and found some baskets to facilitate a last-minute need. And the food was absolutely perfect. Tenderly smoked pork and chicken. The bacon potato alad was other-worldly. And the bread pudding was worth the trip to Chicago all by itself! Whats more, it was very reasonably priced. I would wholeheartedly recommend Steamboat catering for your next event!

My fiance and I held an engagement party July 29, 2017 and had Steamboat cater pulled pork, chicken, and brisket as well as mac n cheese and corn. I worked hand in hand with John (the owner) many weeks leading up to the party. He was quick to respond on any questions I had and would give me an updated estimate anytime I had a change in our options. Last minute we decided to have the food delivered and ordered the wire racks and sternos (2 days before). They were EXTREMELY accommodating with this change. The food was delivered with hardly anyone even noticing and was hot and fresh. I had RAVING reviews of the food. People talked about it throughout the day and had many guests contact me days later to ask where I catered from. In short, Steamboat is fairly priced relative to other BBQ in the area and in my opinion tastes like that finger-licking Southern BBQ that people crave.

The brisket is wonderful. The ribs are great. They have a great assortment of sauces (Hot Diggity Hog is my favorite). I hear the pulled pork is wonderful too, but I just dont get past the brisket on the menu cause it is so good. I really love this place. The staff is wonderful. Austin BBQ used to be my goto place in the area until they went out of business (which was a hardship). I would be devastated if Steamboat left me. I drag my work buddies there all the time because I want this place to flourish. Their sides are ok. Would love it if they made the pit beans with left over brisket [like Austin]. I usually get fries, but one I finish a brisket burnt ends sandwich, the sides seem not so important. In summer it can get a bit warm inside - so if you are sensitive to the heat, beware.

These guys are the best BBQ place in at very least, the west burbs... perhaps in Chicagoland. I absolutely love their food and have driven many times from Bloomingdale to Wheaton in the thick of Friday rush hour traffic and stood in 30 minute lines for their food! I hate sitting in traffic and waiting in lines, but for Steamboat BBQ... I so dont mind the hassle after that first bite! I reluctantly share a good review on here, as it will just make them busier, but John (the owner) and his crew deserve the praise! Keep up the great work you guys! Not that you guys need it, but if you ever want some extra marketing help, Ill hook you guys up with my forum ChicagolandAnswers.us - Ive already recommended you all on there! :-)

Ive been here about 4 times the last 2 times were weird. I just have this great sense of concern about the quality of the pork. The manager or somebody keeps asking the customers how is the food. how is the food. Every time I tried to swallow the pork from the pulled pork sandwich, I gagged a little bit. So i went on to investigate a bit. I went into the back and found boxes and boxes of pork. So i presumed that this pork is frozen. I havent tried their beef. Theirs just something very wrong going on here. I forced myself to never come here again. Other than that their sides are good. Not alot on their menu to choose from. 10 dollars a person.

Great food. Only reason for not giving 5 star rating is that when they get busy in the location, they take the phone off the hook. I understand the reasoning of taking care of patrons in the store, however the majority of the customers inline were complaining about the non-answering. Had they been taking phone answers they probably could have done a better job planning. At one point a worker came out asking if anyone was picking up a phone answer and that started a general complain-fest. One of the customers asked if he could give his order to her now, she said now, I was told to stop taking phone orders.

Got a full slab of baby back ribs and cornbread and an orange soda. Ribs were just fine. Nothing wrong with them but also not much right about them. If you throw enough good BBQ sauce on a shoe you can still make it pretty delicious. The ribs were well cooked and snot and texture was perfect I will give then that, but I shouldnt be too try every sauce to find something I honesty like and to give the tube aint task flavor. Corn bread was cold as dry, it just wasnt good. Orange soda was the best part of my meal. Everyone was nice and restaurant was respectably clean for a BBQ place.

Food here is outstanding and I highly recommend it. I really like their BBQ and they have a great variety of sauces. My biggest complaint is with the order taking. I have walked out twice because of the excessive wait... one of which was with only 2 people ahead of me. Ive tried calling in orders ahead of time, but no one ever answers the phone. They really need to figure out a more efficient ordering process. At least take my order and start making it if your going to make me stand in line 15 minutes to pay. Would be 5 stars if they could fix that and/or add online ordering.
