Once again I ordered a specialty cake from Deerfields bakery. I specifically told the lady that I needed an 8inch cake for the top of a cupcake tower. The lady preceeds to show me an example of a 3tier cake that is 7 inch with a chocolate bar attached to the cake displaying a personalized message. I said thats perfect even though it was 7inches I was ok with it being an inch smaller. I told the lady working I would like the same cake but in hot pink with a white chocolate bar attached. I arrived to pick up the cake Friday 11/11/16 and the store manager brought out the cake and slightly opened the box so I could see the cake. I looked and gasped wow...its beautiful! Then I opened the entire box to realize the cake was not the size I ordered and also there was no chocolate bar attached to the cake displaying the babys name. In fact thecake they brought out was 4.5 inches and it had the babys name written on the plate that the cake was displayed on. When the store manager came back to the counter I let her know this is not what I ordered. I explained to her...I ordered the larger sized tiered cake with a white chocolate bar attached. The store manager then proceeds to apologize and says the chocolate bar would not look right attached to this size cake and the other size cake would not have been that much bigger. By this point Im annoyed because I didnt ask for her opinion. I speciafilly ordered a 7 inch tiered cake with the chocolate bar attached like the example they had in the store when I placed my order. And the cake they made for me was a 4.5 inch tiered cake....with the name displayed on the plate.....not at all what I ordered. At this point I had already paid for the cake and the baby shower was the following morning....not to mention I live an hour away where the baby shower was taking place Crete, IL. The store manager offered to have a new cake made the following morning but there was no way I was going to drive 2 hours to pick up another cake. So I took the cake home and made the best of it. Before I left the store, the store manager said she would give me a call the following morning to make this right. Today is 11/24/2016 two weeks later and I have yet to hear back from anyone at Deerfields bakery. This is not the first time Deerfields bakery has messed up a specialty order. Four years ago I ordered 2 specialty bread pudding from Deerfields for my aunts 50th birthday party. I arrived to pick them up and of course they only had 1 bread pudding ready for me as they somehow did not make the two I had ordered and paid for. Once again they offered to have another one ready the following day but the party was that same day and I live an hour away. I did not get one apology. So I proceeded to pick out another dessert option...a $12 cake and asked the asst manager what could she do for me since it was there mistake. The asst manager tells me she could give me a complaint form or she give me 10% off the cake I picked out but she would not be able to give me both a complaint form and the 10% off. Im thinking are you freaking kidding me....is this a joke!! I asked for the complaint form. 10% off was a slap in the face on a $12 cake. This is twice now that this bakery has messed up a simple order and Im not happy with their customer service. Their customer service is really poor.

WORST BAKERY EVER!!! I was responsible for finding a place to get the cake for my brother-in-laws wedding and I chose Deerfields, which turned out to be a ridiculous mistake. I sent in an image of what we were looking for and received a reply that although they could not do the gold fondant in the image - they would do a gold color with a shimmer. This would have been fine if it was provided. Next, at the very last minute they told me that they could not do the flowers that were in the image but at this point it was too late to find an alternative bakery. At the event when we saw the cake we were so disappointed. It was plain yellow (almost a canary yellow) with no shimmer. Also, the cake was so dry that not a single person finished a piece. Has anyone ever been to a wedding where cake was not eaten? We also had a dessert table, which people devoured because it was tasty and from another baker. We would have definitely have preferred to take the money we spent on the terribly disappointing cake and ordered more desserts for the dessert table. Deerfields told me that they gave me exactly what I asked for but I have email chains and pictures that state otherwise. Also, I do not think that there is anyone that would ask for a grossly dry and embarrassing cake. They seem to focus on the fact that they told me that it would be a gold color and that was what was expected - they delivered a canary yellow cake. Please save your money and look elsewhere for your cakes.

I have loved this bakery for 15 years but lately its seems its not a full service bakery anymore. I make trips in the afternoon for cupcakes for my staff and there are none. What happened to all the cakes and cupcakes? The shelves used to be filled with a wide variety of bakery items. There really is no other bakery in Schaumburg besides a grocery store. The cupcakes are the most reasonable and delicious and the large happy birthday cakes are gone? Im very disappointed and would like to know if this is temporary or how Deerfields bakery is now? Please return Deerfields in Schaumburg to us! Please advise us and your staff of very delightful people so they can share whats going on. They dont know. Thank you!

Dont waste your time with this place. Several people told me that their cakes arent good, except the whipped cream. So, since it is close, I ordered the whipped cream cake. I didnt end up with it because when they emailed me a confirmation (thankfully I chose that option), it was all wrong. When I called to straighten it out, they were as rude as anyone Ive dealt with ever. I cancelled it, because in their eyes, it was my problem, NOTHING to do with the order taker telling me wrong. Save yourself the aggravation and go to Jarosch Bakery. The cakes are always good there. Customer service is good too.

This is the third cake I have bought from Deerfields Bakery and it was more delicious than the previous two. They have never disappointed me. They decorate the cakes so beautifully even when I am not sure what I want, the suggestions are great and the cake looks beautiful AND all the guests at the showers I have had for my daughter rave about the cake. Thank you for being the delicious ending to beautiful day.

I live the fact that they have gluten free cake, the actual cake tastes great. The frosting does taste good too, but there is more frosting than cake. My kids wouldnt eat it. Disappointing because a little.cake is over $26 for like a 6 inch cake. They were also disappointed because it was brown and white frosting while the gluten cakes had balloons, flowers. I probably wont drive 45 minutes again to get one.
