After reading the three good reviews posted here I thought Id give Enlai a try for dinner after a busy day of remodeling. The kids wanted some Chinese... which really means they want Sweet and Sour Chicken... I was looking for something a little spicier. We ordered the Sweet and Sour Chicken, Curry Chicken, a pint of Hot and Sour Soup and two orders of Crab Rangoons to go. Our order was up in under ten minutes and the total was twenty six dollars and change. The Crab Rangoons were pretty good and there was ten pieces in an order which was a good deal. They were fried perfectly in clean oil and they seemed fresh not frozen. They looked like they were made there. I liked that. The Sweet and Sour Chicken was also done perfectly, they use a tempura style batter and they provided a pint container of the sauce on the side so the little nuggets made it home without getting all soggy. The kids loved them. The Curry Chicken (Number 70 on the menu) was delightful... onions and carrots and peapods... thinly sliced fresh chicken and a great yellow curry over white rice boxed on the side... almost more sweet than spicy... next time I might just ask the chef to fire it up a bit but thats just me... I like it hot and fiery, more than most people anyway. Id definitely try this one again. It seemed not to have much, if any MSG and the flavor was still perfect. I cant wait until lunch tommorow. Mmmmmmm. The peice de resistance (or however those fun loving French spell it) was the Hot and Sour Soup. Im kind of a connosuier of the stuff... Ive always loved the Rising Suns version (LaGrange Avenue in Mokena just south of 191st st) and Ive found other places lacking. The Hot and Sour Soup was exquisite... the perfect spiciness... exotic mushrooms... bamboo shoots and little chunks of tofu... God only knows what else... but this soup is rich, spicy, brown and like a fireworks show on the palate... a fitting grand finale for a Wednesday night take out for the family. Ive only been to Enlai once... its in the Nelson Plaza building in New Lenox... right across from the Jewel on Rt. 30 near I-80. I definitely think I will be exploring this place more. Until next time, bon apetite... Jimmy Tango, out!

I used to go to Chinatown a lot and still have some good friends who live there still. As my wife pointed out tonight this is the first time we have ordered from somewhere else in over 10 years. I live a few miles from Enlai and I can say its really close as for quality as I get from Chinatown when we go to see friends. If Chinatown is 10 stars Enlai is a solid 7 in my book. I have toddlers and so for our first order from there I wanted a wide spread to judge the menu. We ordered Mongolian beef, the special of shrimp with fried pork rice (figured the kids would love that) the Pu Pu platter fried chicken rice crab rangoon and a few other dishes. I was feeling lazy and for once didnt want to cook for the family. I can honestly say I would order everything again, wonderfully cooked and no complaints. I would like to add that places in Chinatown are hard pressed to beat the wonderful flavorful dish of the shrimp with fried pork rice I ordered for my kids, They love shrimp shrimp and rice so I figured it was a good choice for them, I had a few bites to try it and I was amazed. The Mongolian beef I order for myself was a delightful dish, and the Crab Ragoon was one of the best I have had, top 3 easy. I have a friend since my childhood whom is from Japan and next time they visit I wouldnt think twice about ordering from Enlai Chinese Restaurant for a nice meal at home with them. Not the best place in the Chicagoland area, but they have great quality food that isnt far behind them with a much lower cost. I would recommend going there as my wife had issues calling, but it turned out perfect ordering in person for her.

Food poisoned Had to work a full shift with food poisoning wont refund or replace because I didnt bring it back yesterday. I got food around 8 they were closed before I digested it smh. I offered to bring half the food back. Shouting in the background as my request is made. I work all day ate nothing else but en lai. Got the pork eggfooyoung good price good service food was dry. MY egg foo young was dry gravy on the side. Shrimp fried Rice dry a little undercooked. Still I had to work threw pain and ib because somebody didnt wash there hands or wok or Something. Arrived at our home in 20 minutes!!! Delicious!!! We ordered the orange chicken and the general tsaos chicken. It was one of the best chinese delivery meals weve ever had! The fried rice is incredible with fresh ingredients and lots of flavor. The chunks of chicken in it were tender and full of flavor! We also ordered a side of pan fried noodles which is the reason i gave 4 stars instead of 5. The noodles were completely crunchy and not soft at all. They had no flavor because of it. However, on the other hand, it added a nice crunch to the meal. Will definitely be ordering again. No need to go anywhere else anymore!

Guy on the phone barely understood english. When the food got here it definately wasnt what we expected. The beef in the fried rice was rubbery and had a very odd taste to it. The pan fried noodles were also extremely over cooked. It also seemed like the wontons were fried in the same, highly used, oil everything else is fried in. On a positive note, the egg roll tasted fine.

Not my favorite Chinese option in the area, but Ive ordered here a lot. I find most Chinese food too greasy, and I expect stiff service. This place is no different, but the food is acceptable. I will order again when its convenient.

Chicagoland has a different style of chinese food than I am used to but En Lai is inline with what ive had everywhere else in the US. The service is always quick and i love the food here.
