We were camping in Union and decided to run to Marengo for groceries. We saw Trio Grille right next door and decided to have a late lunch. We were a party of 3. First impression was that it was a large place, clean and nicely decorated. However we thought it was odd that it was lunch time on a Friday andandere was only 1 table occupied and nobody at the bar. Took a long time for our server to come by and take our drink order. But hey, she was by herself taking care of a party of 8, so I get it. Ordered our drinks which included a Bells Oberon which was a delightful surprise that they had this beer on tap. I will tell you, it fell off the cliff for us after the drinks. We ordered the Beer Cheese Fondue for an appetizer. It was white cheddar based which came with three types of bread. I have to say the pretzel bites were great! However, we stopped eating it after we discovered that one type of bread was not only stale and hard as a rock, it had mold on it. We flagged down our server who was apologetic and was also disgusted. She handled it well telling us she would notify the kitchen and took it off our bill. After our food came, we had to wait 5 minutes because the server forgot the silverware and napkins. Why, I have no idea. There was only 1 table besides us in the whole place. I ordered the meatloaf which was ok. Comes with real mashed potatoes, which were really good, but they forgot the gravy. It was also supposed to come with soup, which never came as the server forgot. Brought both of these issues to our server. Once again she was very apologetic and offered to take this off our bill. I decided to get another beer, this being the best part of the meal so far. That was about to change. For those of you familiar with Bells Oberon, its a crystal clear golden color beer. My second beer showed up a cloudy, milky yellowish color. The server tried spinning it that it was because, the barrel was just changed. I brew beer so I figured its possible. 20 minutes later and the beer looks the same! Again, I brew beer and thats NOT normal. My 7 year old son needed a refill on his pop. However, it never came. Server once again is apologetic and takes drinks off the bill. She brought the check apologizing saying this isnt ever like this and she has no excuse for it being off. I now understand why this place during peak time only had ONE table occupied. Hands down the worst dining experience weve ever experienced. Do yourself a favor and go down the street where there are plenty of good places to dine. I understand that things can go wrong and people make mistakes, but this was just beyond crazy!

I was in having lunch today with a buddy of mine our server Stephanie suggested the flatbread which was very good, what a sweet girl always had a smile on her face. After lunch I went to use the mens room and I was reading the up coming events and saw that you are open for Thanksgiving, I cant believe you would make your staff work on a family holiday, Thanksgiving is a day to be thankful, how often do you thank your staff.......do you think they feel appreciated? As business owners remember Thanksgiving is a time to be thankful of your health, family, your friends, as well as those who have been working for you all year round. You really have a great staff, which is why me and my co-workers eat at your establishment often without them you are just the most expensive place in town.

Weve been there twice and both times the fish fry was outstanding. It can be served 3 different ways. Its the best baked cod Ive ever had. The price is reasonable and service was excellent. One of the owners came out to chat with us on both occasions. Were going again tonight.

We have eaten here several times and the most consistent thing is the bad service. It takes over 45 minutes to get anything and good luck on refills. The food is good but not for the price or portions.
