Heck with this place. That lady at the cash register is mindless and simply ARROGANT.She does not know manners and the basics of Customer Service. Ok, here is what happened. I took my son and ordered two dosas for eating in and a biriyani plus a pastry for taking out. After I paid the order, I had a doubt that I could have been overcharged. Since I did not get the receipt, I went to her and asked her for the receipt. There were so many people standing and I told her that I will wait and we can sort this out later so that the people dont get caught up in the line. She got so angry at me and said " You dont have to say that. This is my job and I know what to do". What the heck ?? Who is she talking to ? Is she my employer ? Is she giving me food for free ? How dare she talks like that to a customer ?? But I saw her treating the Gujarati customers very well. After that, she started to search for the receipt frantically. She found the receipt and I saw that she charged me for a Vada Pav which I did not order or eat. Instead of saying sorry and apologizing, she got angry at me and said that I only ordered a Vada Pav. I said "No, I did not order any". The owner rushed and apologized immediately. I said " Why is she getting angry instead of saying sorry.?". For which the lady is saying " He asked sorry right. That is more than enough". What the heck ?????????????? Who is she treating like this ? Am I not a customer ? Hell with Hot Breads. Worst customer service ever. I was walking out and she was still yelling at my back. There were many people there and I did not want to continue with an argument. How is the Owner still keeping her knowing about her attitude ? They charge you extra and when you find out, they shout at you and fight with you. What a place could this be ? How can this place even exist ? Coming to the food, it is stale. The Dosa was so bad and the sambar was old. You could simply smell the foulness. This place has lost the quality. Cake was the only reason I used to go. The customer service has always been bad. That lady has been there for so many years. And she has always behaved like this. I wonder why the owner still has her. I have heard the same reviews about her from other people too. The owner is losing business because of her. If you run a business, you are responsible for the employees behavior too. If she is behaving as if she is some Queen and the customers are her slaves, the Owner has let her behave like that. He is to be blamed too no matter how good he is. He simply has failed to manage his employees with such attitudes. If I was in his place, I would have gotten rid of her in the first place. She did this on purpose. She is cheating people and charging extra. I dont know how many customers have been cheated. She is eating peoples money. Guys, save yourself and your money. This place does not deserve a visit ever. The food is stale. And that lady will treat you as a slave, if you are a South Indian and is not Gujarati. And they cheat you. Heck with Hot Breads !!! They create such bad reputations for the Indians in the US..

My husband and I visited Chicago Hot Breads today for the very first time. My husband ordered a black forest pastry, papdi chaat, samosa chaat, and a single samosa. When we got our order, it was missing the papdi chaat so my husband went back to the person hed originally placed the order with to let him know the papdi chaat was missing. The guy starts to scold my husband. He tells my husband that he confirmed the order more than once and that my husband only ordered the a pastry, samosa and samosa chaat. To top it off he even shows the piece of paper hed written the order on proving that my husband did not order papdi chaat. Mistakes happen! Or maybe my husband is just deaf? But does that matter anyway? There was obviously some confusion regarding the order but it wasnt a big issue until the guy decided to prove himself right. All he had to say was that "no problem, let me get the papdi chaat". Apparently the guy knows nothing about being polite or about customer service. He wasnt just rude with us. While we were waiting for our food, he was taking a phone order. I guess he couldnt hear the person on the phone so he yells at the person on the phone saying "ARE YOU ON SPEAKER PHONE?" Again, all he had to say was, "Im sorry, I cant hear you. Can you please repeat that?" Now moving on from the guy who is the epitome of impolite, the food tasted horrible! 1. The papdi chaat was tasteless! Tasted so bad I barely ate any of it. 2. The chick peas in the samosa chaat werent cooked fully. 3. The samosa had no taste at all. The potatoes in the samosa tasted as if all it had was peas, chillies, cumin seeds, cilantro, chilli powder/chili and salt. I might not know how to make samosa filling but I know enough to know that it needs much more than what it had! We visited Hot Breads for the first time today and unfortunately, we wont be ever going again. I know customer service is too much to ask of Indian businesses but being a little polite goes a far way especially considering how poor tasting the food is. I have never felt worse about wasting $11! The description of the guy we dealt with is as follows: 1. chubby 2. short hair 3. has a goatee 4. has wheatish skin. We went in on Wednesday, June 23rd, around 6 PM. I tried to get his name from the woman who was working at the cashier, but she was just as rude. She said to just make note of the day and time we were in so when we call the owner with our complaint, hell check who was on schedule then. Advice to customers: Please either go across the road to Sukhadia or Milan Chaat located in the adjacent plaza!

The most ironic thing that I found today is I saw them some where saying their food is under$10 but the girl at the counter said we dont accept any payment card under $10. I dont understand what that means. I just asked her is I can get Chicken 65 and the girl at the counter said she has to ask if they have it or not and just walked up to the door ( I dont think if she really did ask some one) came back and told me they dont have it. I asked if they have any other chicken item for which she bluntly replied we dont have any chicken and it was not even 8 pm Friday night Dec-18th. Then I asked if they have chicken Biryani and she said yes and I ordered one to go. Then she said with an attitude that we dont take payment card under $10. This is not first time I have observed the attitude of that same employee. The management or the owners must be smart enough to put her in kitchen or in the cleaning area and not at cash counter where you need to greet your customers with a smile or at least be courteous / polite. This is a service industry and your personality and attitude comes first then arrives your food. We are all living in a modern era and not in stone age where you wont be able to accept any payment card. Dont be so cheap and if need be increase the price if you cant afford to pay card fee to bank, but dont send away your customers just by saying we wont accept cards under $10. It is not a monopoly business and in your same strip mall there are at least five other food chains. I felt bad at the behavior of your employee and will never ever step again in to any of your restaurants. Thank you n good luck!
