I rarely write reviews, but my experience at Kabuki was especially horrendous and I will not be returning. To begin the plates we were given for our appetizer were clearly dirty, covered in food remnants, and we needed to ask the waitress for new plates. The green tea was so diluted that it tasted and looked like water. The udon soup entree was especially disappointing. I go to a restaurant with the expectation of eating a better meal than anything that I could produce at home. I have never made udon soup but am confident that I could excel in that endeavor as compared to Kabuki. The udon broth had no flavor. You could tell that the chicken was frozen beforehand because the chicken was all clumped together in the soup. The only part of the soup that tasted good were the shitake mushrooms. To add to the horrible experience, we needed to remind our server to apply a daily promotion for hibachi appetizers and the server also charged us incorrectly for an item that was twice as much than it should have been. The strikes were counting the moment we arrived at this restaurant and, in the end, the result was a strikeout. I will not be returning and recommend that people do not waste their time at Kabuki due to the poor food quality and service. We visited the nearby taco bell afterwards and bought food for 4 people for the cost of a meal for one at Kabuki. The food was exceptional.

Me and my friend didnt try dinner menu yet, but so far lunch isnt that good for the price. It maybe a ok option if you are tire of Portillos and El Burrito, but dont expect way too much of their lunch option. Its ok for $10, but we didnt just try lunch bento to post this review. We ordered some makis and rolls oneday... Terrible choice... I think professional chef works night shift. Maki was breaking apart with uneven cut, I know Sushi knife is really really sharp and it has to be precise because taste comes from the knife. Roll was also breaking, well, opening. Im serious!! There must be really inexperience chef working daytime shift, but when you are paying over $40 lunch, I think we deserve better food. Three rolls comes with two miso and small salad was over $40. Price may not sound so terrible, but one roll was cali and another was simple salmon roll, enough said. I expect better food if they have some nerve to charge lot of amount money. I expect not to be a practice subject for their training new chef either. I work nearby and was hoping this would be a to go place for my lunch appetite, but now I have to stick with $5 burrito.

Great food! Great service! ...And what an amazing owner! I was in town for business and looked for, "sushi near me" since I was craving it. KABUKI came up and I gave a call to see if the were still serving. I called and when I asked if they were still serving food, the man on the phone said, "the kitchen would be closing in a few minutes, but if I was on my way that he would tell them to wait for me." Once I arrived and had a seat, none of the staff made me feel like I was inconveniencing them or holding them up from going home. Though to try and not disrespect them, I quickly ordered. My food came out looking amazing and tasted just as good as it looked. After I was done eating, the owner himself came over and asked me how my meal was. He stood and had a chat with me for a few minutes letting me know the type of service he preferred to give to his customers and how he enjoys going around talking with his customers to find out how their meal and service were and amending any issues that may arise. This is the type of business that I feel great supporting and I am sure glad that I went there tonight.

The chef and the guy who came to clean up our table after words where both nice and friendly but the hostess was extremely rude and so was the waiter. When me and my family came in the hostess just frowned at us and didnt really want to help us at all I think she might be racist cause when another family of color came in she did the same exact thing she did to my family so after waiting 15 minutes for the chef to come to our table a Caucasian family walked in and the hostess frown turned into this big smile and and happily sat them to there table I couldnt believe it. Then after we ate the waiter kept bothering me and rubbing on my shoulder which made me feel uncomfortable and saying you know this was a expensive meal I hope you have enough even though I knew he was joking but that was kinda offensive cause thats like saying colored are to poor eat here but I give Kabuki 3.9 out of 5.

This place was awful. It cant decide what it wants to be, and theres nothing Japanese about it beyond cheap furniture and some writing. The service was slow; we waited 10 minutes to see our waitress. The bar is ridiculously loud given that the "dining" room is right behind it and the T.V. blares at you during dinner. The waitress was inept. Oh, and there was a band for some reason... a band that played American Classic Rock, in a Japanese restaurant... 5 feet from where we were seated in an overly crowded dining room. I dont know why the labels only go down to "poor-fair", but its not a strong enough warning. Save yourself money, time and frustration and just go somewhere else.

Finally got around to trying this place. Being a frequent of Kampai, Orchid, Sushi Ya, Domo 77, and Ron of Japan, Im trying my best to try them all. We started off with Tempura calamari and veggies - hard to screw that up. Tasted great - was nice to have broccoli in there. For dinner, we had miso soup (average), and two rolls - White Zen and Crazy Boy. I loved them - my girlfriend liked them, but said Crazy Boy tasted a bit too mayo for her liking, but she still liked it a lot. Crab meat was real which we always look out for. Ended dinner with some tempura ice cream - deadly stuff. :) Love the decorating - well be back if were in the area.

My husband and I are frequent customers of Kabuki and love it. Weve only eaten in the dinning room, and what sold me right away on the place was how great they are with my shellfish allergy. I never have to worry about cross contamination, and both the waiters and sushi chefs are great about this. The 12 and 15 piece sashimi platters are so beautifully put together. The rolls are wonderful - even the vegetarian rolls which blow my mind. We love this place enough that we brought a large group of out of state friends here the night before our wedding reception, and everyone had a great time and loved the food!

When I eat a Kabuki I normally eat their 9 piece sushi for $22. On occasion when I am feeling like something different I will get one of their awesome rolls like the Crazy Boy or volcano. What makes Kabuki so good is not their rolls, because without good, fresh fish a roll is nothing and their fish is ALWAYS fresh. I have NEVER had bad fish at Kabuki. Ive never had their hibachi so I cant speak to that but their chefs are entertaining and I always hear them having a good time with customers. If you are looking for some of the best sushi in the west suburbs then you need to check out this place!
