Yeah, I admit it - Im somewhat of a francophile and one of my favorite French delicacies is the classic French macaron. Although there are several places in the great city of Chicago that can make a decent one, nobody quite does it like Vanille Patisserie! Along with these light meringue-based treats, they also make a variety of other sweets including entremes (mousse cakes), pastries, tarts, cakes and more. However, when I come, I gotta get at least a dozen macarons. The flavors change every day of the week, but you gotta come here early otherwise they sell out and youll be sad. Even though a dozen of these confections will set you back about 20 bucks, make the investment because your mouth will thank you! Ive tried a variety of flavors and still need to try the rest, but the ones that I keep going back to include strawberry lemongrass, blueberry, vanilla bean and milk/honey. The strawberry lemongrass is probably my favorite outta the bunch. The filling is what makes it - theres a combination of a lemongrass buttercream along with strawberry jam whose acidity balances the sweetness of the buttercream. The blueberry is subtle and the milk/honey macaron reminds me of eating cereal - absolutely delicious! The staff is so personable and really know their macarons. They always provide me with the best suggestions and have never steered me wrong. Try it out soon and enjoy!

Loved this place, I wish we could move it to where we live. The deserts were excellent, fresh and a nice variety. When they say dark chocolate they mean it, rich and creamy and flavorful. I loved their choice of layering for the 2 pieces we got, the textures combined to perfection. Presentation was flawless. The only down side: the cupcake icing was very buttery, good if youre into that, but very very very rich, especially for the amount you get on that giant cupcake. The macaroon on it was questionably stale, but i put that to happenstance. Just dont get the cup cakes. Did not try the pastries, it was the end of day so the selection was pretty sparse by then. Large selection of macaroons. They happened to have samples when we came by and they were fresh and delicious, just crunchy enough : pistachio with white filling. I would return for that. Nice decor: Pretty Eiffel Tower made out of macaroons and simple yet spotless dining tables. Fun to look at all the cakes with fondant decorations. The staff was very friendly, they looked like they were enjoying being there, and had a great presence. Would very definitely recommend this place!

This place had been on my list for years and then one day, I was walking down the street and almost missed it. I was full from dinner but I had to stop by and Im so glad I did. I walked in with the intention of trying macarons and immediately spotted the samples on the counter. Then, because it was our first trip, we got free samples. By the end of the trip, we had tried the Cassis, Lavender, Rose, Caramel, Vanilla, Nutella, Red Velvet and Lemongrass. The Cassis was our favorites followed by Lavender. But all were amazing and were completely devoured by the end of the evening. Overall, I definitely recommend dropping by. The macarons were totally worth it.

Its a super cosy cafe, and also offer france bakery which are not super sweet. I feel lucky not going to Starbucks, but chose this local cozy cafe shop after I felt tired of walking in the zoo. Lol 好舒服好雅致的法式空間!巧克力杏仁可頌相當到底美味,不甜不膩,是逛完動物園之後的體力補給站。

Having lived among Francophones for years and traveled several times to Paris, I was really, really pleased to find this place! The croissants amandine are just too delicious to describe and the macaroons are beyond amazing! I deviated slightly from my regular order and tried a pain au chocolate and just knew that I was back in the 7th arrondissement! This is a lovely and wonderful way to enjoy very fine French pastries, while remaining in Chicago. Parking at this location was a bit tight, but well worth the effort and the quarters for the meter!

SO Im a little torn about Vanille Patisserie. While I absolutely love their Macarons (and they are some of the better ones Ive had)... Ive tried a few of the other cakes from here as a take home for desert and havent been too impressed. Maybe its because I prefer pastries from another pastry shop thats a 5 minute cab drive or 15 min walk away so much more that its hard for me to go for the deserts that they offer. I mean they look great and taste OK but for the price I would go elsewhere.

It’s my spot in Chicago to buy macaroons. Vanille Patisserie has a broad selection of macaroon favors: chocolate, pistachio and some fancy ones such as rose, lychee (a real standout), strawberry champagne and many more. I love that their macaroons which are so delicate, light-tasting and fluffy. They look really great in the box with all their bright, vivid colors and can be a perfect gift to a special someone.

The place looks nice at first, the only thing I want to say is : please get your staff working. The tables next to the window open a view through a dusty windows . The staff is sitting and at 9 am Im having my chocolate drink in the company of dust. The impression is not that good. It has a great potential but the staff needs to do some chores.

Classy decor, delicious pastries, and friendly staff. Loved the blueberry macaron. It was right on all levels, light crisp outer shell, fluffy innards, dark fruity blueberry center. Location feels very up class while the old school music sets the perfect casual mood. Definitely worth the time to stop by.

Ooh la la, transport yourself to Paris circa 1925. Delicate pastries, lovely french hospitality, la Vie en Rose softly playing through the speakers. Ashley prepared a high tea experience attending to every detail with just five minutes notice. Everything was simply exquisite

Cute, classy atmosphere and friendly staff. We bought some raspberry and chocolate financiers in the bakery section and they were phenomenal with just the right amount of moisture and a chewy but not rough texture. Cant wait to come back and try more of their pastries!

Everything looks delicious but I got a macaron and it was just OK. A little gooey for my taste. They did have a good variety though, and the attendants were very pleasant, even to this man and his two sons who asked for free samples and then only bought 1 (rude).

Parisian quality patisserie (with slightly slower service than you would find in the capital). Decent prices for being stateside. Was disappointed when I ordered croissants aux amandes only to discover when I got home that the staff gave me regular croissants.

Close to real, but the price makes them imported. The shop is great, quaint and not tech happy, which is a nice quiet reprieve, but the croissants, especially almond are addictive. Watch out you may be working but add about 20 lbs if you go here every day.

Delicious macarons. Loved the milk and honey. Its in a very cute location, down a busy street. The lady even gave us a free one because all the ones we wanted to try were out! I guess that means you should go early to get the good flavors.

Their expensive macaroons are good (however it is very hard to make expensive macaroons to be bad), their expensive tarts are BAD, overfat, oversweet, too phlegmy... Do not go there unless you always have extra $100 just for macaroons
