Being a beer connoisseur, or at least Id like to think I am one, Ive been really wanting to go to Word of Beer for quite some time and tonight I finally had the chance to go. I really wanted to like the place, but the beer, what should be the very soul of this place, was not quite up to par. At least 3 of the several draft beers we had, seemed to have been watered down. Besides the taste, you can usually tell if thats the case, by how fast the head (foam) disperses and the pattern the head leaves behind as you drink your beer. One of the most obvious examples would be a Guiness Stout, which we actually had here and yes, it seemed watered down. Im not sure if its the case here, but some blame the lack of bubbles and/or foam on the use of N2O(Nitrous) instead of CO2(Carbon Dioxide) in the tap installation, but that has very little impact on the quality of beer. Anyway, Im sorry to say that we were pretty disappointed with the quality of the several draft beers we had, and chances are we wont be going back, which is a shame because the potential is there...

I went here for a Yelp Elite event to try out their new menu. The food was great and not your typical bar food. They had plates of their famous pretzels and cheese, meatballs, cheese dip with caramelized onions, and shrimp tacos. They also gave us beers that would compliment very well with the food. World of beer has over 500 bottles/cans and a good amount on draft. We got to try their stout beer that has been in barrels for 2 years. I really enjoy stouts and this was very tasty and had great flavor. I would def come back to World of Beer for their food and their beer. The atmosphere was a modern bar like Beer Market in Schaumburg. They have trivia nights on Wednesday which many college students go to it seemed like when I was there. Their loyalty program i heard is also awesome to sign up for.

World of Beers is a brew pub. It possesses about 500 different beers: some draft, some in bottles. You can eat cold cuts. I would recommend a giant pretzel. Club Loyalty can keep track of your tried beers, which allows the bartender at your next visit to suggest beers you have not tried yet. For signing up for the club, you receive a t-shirt WOB. A sympathetic manager told us that the program has a different amount of rewards and beers are changing on a quarterly basis. So that is still something new. Samples / flies are quite expensive because it costs $ 8 for 4; however, they are quite large. Worth visiting, a great place for beer lovers.

Great beer selection (probably the best in Evanston) with a friendly, if a bit unattentive, staff. While the staff isnt the most knowledgeable, the dont hesitate to give you a sample of something that catches your eye. A good place to catch the game with multiple televisions, Id skip the food and eat beforehand (at Edzos down the street maybe?) All in all, not terribly different than the Yard House on Glenview, though some may disagree.

Very large selection of craft beer with a great selection of imports as well. Probably the cheapest bar in Downtown Evanston (Bottle of Dog Fish Head 90 minute IPA for 5.50 for example). Only problem is theyre often out of beers on their menu. For example, on my last visit, there was a total of six times where I was told they were out, which is a bit excessive in my opinion.

I always have lots of fun at this place. The servers are so nice and knowledgable. They let you try any of the drinks on drafts--which is quite an extensive list. They recently added iPads which let you sort beers by categories, etc. Its also nice how frequently they switch in new beers--I recently had a really delicious pumpkin beer! #FallForCHI

Jay was knowledgeable and helpful when we came in on this warm summer Tuesday night. I would rate it 5 stars; but the other guy was not pleasant and told us that they would be calling last calls when there was over an hour and a half before close. When we asked that same guy for specials, he said he didnt know, without any eye contact.

Came here when we were in town for the Huskers vs. Northwestern game, and they were unexpectedly overwhelmed with husker fans. The staff was awesome!! Food was amazing and the beer selection was fantastic!! Shout out to a few of our favorite staff members... Crystal, Theresa, and Mark. We love you!! Will definitely visit again. GBR!!

Decent place, great food but way over priced drinks. Things are not always on tap and portion sizes are well below normal. If youre looking for a specialty drink, than this might be the place but otherwise you are better off driving further into the city and finding another watering whole. They do have live music which is a plus

One less star for being pricey. The quality of the place (service as well as the live music quality) has degraded a bit since it started. When they do have good live music playing and their Thursday discounts and you have a good place to sit, nothing can beat that feeling with exotic beers.

Ive passed this place many times but didnt go there until tonight, probably because I didnt expect a chain to be so good. But I was pleasantly surprised: the service was great, pretzel delicious, and the local beer flight was probably the best beer Ive had.

Certainly a variety of beers, but very expensive even for the Chicago area. Food was awful, but Mgr came & apologized. However, did not deduct anything from the bill. Would recommend to go to Bar Louie instead if all you want is a burger & a beer.

Great beer selection and the vibe is very good. The service is miserable. Ive tried waving down waitresses before but they are unresponsive and sometimes even cold to me. That being said, I still find myself here almost every day of the week.

disappointed by the selection of local brews. Also, was only finger food instead of fullblown meals -- i should have known from a previous visit but it just surprises me that they willingly miss out on serving things other than finger foods.

Really enjoyed the shrimp tacos and the tater tots were crisp and delicious. This is a really fun establishment, there are so many beer options on draft and in bottles. There are also tons of TVs to watch. Happy Hour specials are great too!!

If you like trying new beers I recommend taking a look at the menu here. A wide variety of beers on tap and an even larger sampling in bottles. The food was good but not excellent. As the name implies the focal point is their beer offerings.

Beer selection is cool but the food is overpriced and the service is terrible. Not the staffs fault, but they have about 1/3 as many people as they needed there on a Saturday afternoon and it took 25 min to get our drinks.

They do have a huge selection of the beers. I believe its over 500 of them including many drafts. I really like apple cider ones and they do have many of them to choose. Try they pretzel. It’s really big and delicious.

World of beer was an oasis for my girlfriend and I! We were walking down the street and stopped in randomly. Were definitely going back next time were in Chicago! I highly suggest their extensive selection of "Sours".
