To start with this was my birthday dinner but even more important I had just gotten out of the hospital after a heart attack the week before so it truly was a celebration of one’s life and living another year. So here is the problem with the way we were treated. We were spoke down to and ignored while the table next to us was treat normal they were talked to asked how things where and the waiter was attentive he ignored us never ask how anything was he was just rude to us. So that’s how I know that he was not gay friendly! No matter what he may say actions speak louder than words. As for the food from the very dry biscuits aka” hockey pucks” my app the crab cake which was fried in oil that was very old fried food should be light brown if the oil is fresh they darker the color the older the oil and it tasted like old oil. But I was hungry and trying to put on a good face, but when the salmon came that was it one bite and I was like nope it was fried on the out side and like a gel like texture on the inside. When our waiter pick it up he said nothing when I waited tables and someone did not eat their food I asked if everything was ok , of course I would of already have asked how the food was by then, which was never done the whole time we were there. My husband woke up sick and was sick all day yesterday thank god he is feeling better today. We do not know for sure what made him sick weather it was the raw boiled egg or the Svickova but whatever it was he had a bad night and horrible day.

Food: 4 Decor: 4 Service: 4 I came here with my gf for dinner around 8pm Friday. I called to make a reservation a few hours beforehand. We were promptly seated and served some hot, fresh walnut roll, regular sourdough, and wheat bread. 1. Nantucket Bay Scallops, 14 clams, romanesco, kale, sarsaparilla, rice wine vinegar ~Good, although it was borderline too salty, and the scallops were very tiny. 2. Duck, 30 foie gras, chestnut, pumpkin spice, brioche, fig-apple compote ~Good, although I wish the duck skin were a bit crispier. Foie was delicious and creamy, unlike any Ive had before. The compote was excellent, although much too strong on its own, but it was amazing with the brioche. 3. Grouper, 27 brussels sprouts, pancetta, black garlic cous cous, curry-caper emulsion ~Delicious. Grouper was cooked perfectly, and the accompaniments were good. I didnt really care for the sauce on top though since it was a bit heavy. 4. Melon sorbet, 3 Disappointing. It tasted like rice wine. Overall, somewhat hit and miss, but well have to drop by again since my gf loved it.

Came here for brunch a few weeks ago. Its such a shame the food was mediocre because I really liked the friendliness of the staff and the cozy interior. Mimosa was good. I had the AM burger, which I would compare to "almost McDonalds". The meat was too charred and overcooked. It tasted like a piece of charcoal in my mouth. The egg (over easy) was overcooked. The biscuit and gravy were a bit different than traditional. Biscuit was cooked perfectly and it was pretty clever of them to bake the scallion into the biscuit, but something about the chorizo gravy was just too overpowering. I witnessed someone else sending back their plate a few times due to it being undercooked. Maybe the chef was having a bad day? Though the staff was incredibly amicable, they tended to disappear for long stretches of time. There were only 3 tables to attend to, so it was a bit baffling that the service wasnt better.

Really enjoyed our dinner. Happy hour beforehand allowed time to relax. Appetizers were all tasty including the "famous" avocado fries, I also enjoyed the pork belly which was a better piece of meat than some bellies around town that are too fatty. Dinner was also top notch. Duck confit jambalaya was a fun twist on a standby dish for me. I had a taste our dining companions steak dish with the name I cant remember - great combo of flavors and textures. Chef Woody came out to talk with us and see how we liked everything. We were excited to learn more about the menu. Service was knowledgeable and attentive, and we felt like the quality of everything was high for a moderate price. We will return for sure!

Love Hearth! I was a couple-time visitor of Quince and loved it, but also love the homey, comfortable hearth. The fireplace is lovely in the winter, and the Homestead is such a great place to enter for a meal! Ive only been to Hearth for brunch, though Ive been several times. The menu is succinct, but really well thought out. Ive also been for a New Years Brunch buffet and loved it!

This place is very interesting. It is a restaurant in an old-school hotel which has a very classic look. The food is upscale "American Fare" and the drinks (and specialty drinks) were quite good and creative. Food quality and presentation was superb. Went with a group of six and we all had a great time.

The atmosphere was great, would be difficult to find another place in Evanston with the "intimate dining in someones living room" feel. I just feel let down by the food. While much care was giving to plating, the flavor of the dishes just did not match up (especially at this price point).

Great all around restaurant to come to. Food was fantastic. The first time me and my fiancee came here we did the pre fix menu. We were able to sample quite a few dishes. Our favorite one happened to be the guinea hen which surprised us all. All-in-all highly recommended to try out.

My favorite restaurant in Evanston for a romantic date or a friendly time at the bar. Since it is usually full, I like to eat at the bar where Ryan takes such good care of us and makes amazing drinks. If you like mezcal, try the Oaxaca Rose. It will blow your socks off!

Love the ambiance of this place; feels like an old southern mansion converted into a hotel/restaurant. Appetizers left a little something to be desired (they were good, not great), but entrees were phenomenal. Cozy, quiet feel, great for dates.

We enjoyed our dinner here. The wine selection was good and the cocktails were delicious. We had a number of smaller plates and they were all excellent. The beef tenderloin with spaetzle was one of the best dishes i had this year.

Moments later after reading the menu, I walked out... who still serves veal rabbit and duck knowing the cruelty behind it. Will not support a restaurant who doesnt believe in humane killing.. if there is such a thing.

Good entrees and salads, and creative, generous cocktails. The pecan tart is the best pecan dessert Ive ever had, and the biscuit they give you before the meal is delicious. All-around high quality experience.

This is the epitome of the Anti-Dennys experience, a little gem of a restaurant that is a must do on every epicurean bucket list.
