I recently read an article in the Trib that was all about the Olive Oil that the owners make themselves in Greece, and use and sell at the restaurant, and I needed to get my hands on a bottle (which incidentally is the best olive oil Ive ever had). My girlfriend and I decided to make an evening of it and go for dinner. We dont live too far away, only about fifteen minutes or so, but had never been in to eat. The menu is huge, and one of the most interesting and creative I have seen in a while! It has a very "current" feel, while still not getting away from a down to earth, comfort food theme. I had the BBQ beef brisket which the menu said is slow cooked in house, and it was perfect. Tender, not too fatty, and an excellent sauce. My girlfriend had a pasta dish that featured the olive oil, and had fresh mozzarella, spinach, and walnuts. The portion was substantial. She said one of the best parts was having enough left to enjoy the next day at work for lunch! We also had fresh ears of sweet corn that we were told comes from a local farmer that provides much of the produce in the summer months. They were like candy. We were so impressed with the use of local produce that we told our waitress, and she let one of the managers know. He came over and told us where the farm is located so we could go over there, and he also showed us the fresh herbs they grow on their outdoor patio. This was one of the most refreshing dining experiences I have had in quite some time. Im so tired of the chain feel to everything. Having the nice, personal touch, and warm friendly service made us feel like we had been going in for years. From the quality of ingredients and real, homemade unprocessed foods, to the portions, and the very reasonable prices...Thank God restaurants like this are still out there!!!

I cannot begin to tell you how amazing the food tastes here. This restaurant uses olive oil from their family farm in Greece. The oil itself is amazing and pure tasting. They use this oil for any food requiring it so the food has a unique rich taste. The prices are definitely fair as well. The restaurant has a decent sized dining room and private room on the other side of the restaurant. They also sell the amazing oil they cook with. My kitchen is always stocked with this delectible oil. I have frequented Country House many times and I am never disappointed. In fact I had the wrong order once and I did actually receive a sub par dish that I politely asked to be remade and they hit the mark like usual. I dont hold either of these against them because it happens sometimes at any restaurant. And the rarity of this happening is so low and it was resolved easily. My favorite dish from here is called the Pylian Benedict I beliece. It has pita bread at the bottom and includes sun-dried tomatoes, hollandaise sauce, and poached eggs. It is also made with their family olive oil of course. If you like eggs Benedict this is worth going to the restaurant for. Just give it a try and you wont be disappointed.

me and my wife went there for dinner tonight and unfortunately had a bad ordeal...my dinner was fine ...wifes pasta dish and cesar salad were "off" she did not like either but did not complain...i tried her salad and realized also it was "off" in flavor ...we have both sampled numerous cesars in our life..figured dressing , oh well - her pasta - same "off" flavor...came with a side of parmesean , tasted it - it was bad , it was the cheese that made both salad and pasta so terrible since they were both made with it - when paying bill was asked how everything was - explained exactally what was wrong as well as our dissatisfaction and was replied to simply as "oh - so sorry to here that " nothing more not the slightest real concern or discount to the wifes entree ...it was the second time we ate here - and now our last - mine was good but if this is the type of customer satisfaction they aspire to - FORGET IT , TERRIBLE...also to note the resturant was basically empty and a party of 7-8 seniors out for dinner had to beg our waitress just to get the attention of theirs to place their order - literally us and them and 2 wait staff and they could not get decent service - sad

If you like Baked French Onion soup, you have to come here! By far the best Ive had! Look for coupons in the entertainment book! They have this crazy good Argentinian Chicken with a cilantro based chimichurri right now, but its a special so I need to get my fill of it before they change the special! I havent had pizza from here, but the entrees and salads are great, as is the bread basket. I dont like the raisin pumpernickel bread, but my wife does, so I get the good bread out of it lol! The breakfast was better than Lumes or Original Pancake House, and there wasnt a wait. This is an especially good restaurant for being located in Alsip and not being a chain or a mexican restaurant, I tend toward the Mt. Greenwood restaurants as I hate the chain places that plague the suburbs, but we do drive south to enjoy The Country House every so often and we havent been disappointed yet!

My fiancee and i took my grandmother to dinner on Friday night at The Country House in Alsip. I had always thought of it as a good breakfast place but never really tried it for dinner. I have been missing out for the past 8 years Ive lived in the area. Our waitress was very attentive and helpful. My grandmother had multiple questions about the menu and she answered every one. I had the Godfather sandwich, my fiancee had the Door County Salad and Grandma had the Tilapia. All came with soup (best cream of broccoli soup ive ever had) and sides and Grandma even got dessert. Towards the end of the meal the manager and owner walked around making sure everything was fine and then did the same as I was leaving. Its nice to know we have other options in the Alsip area for dinner. Well be back again.

I hope you like finger food because that is exactly what you will get - fingers in your food. Waitresses do not use trays so thier fingers wind up in your food. There is also no uniform dress code so you get everything from spandex to dress pants and even servers wearing flip flops at work, and in the kitchen area. They have a bus boy but he never clears a table. The server has to do that, and they do not wash thier hands after clearing your dishes, and go right to working with someone elses food. Hostess even went from taking someones cash right to the food prep area and started to touch food that went right out to a table without washing thier hands. While the food is ok, It is clear that food safety is not a high priority. I am doubtful that I will be back under current ownership.

We just had breakfast there....Sunday - late morning - no crowd and were seated right away. The waitress was very good. Got our coffee and water right away. Breakfasts were very good. The pancakes were probably about the best Ive ever had. The butter was so good on them too. I would go back for the pancakes alone! Great choices on the menu. The fruit cups were good - not the anemic "melon" you get at a lot of places. The omelet choices were great - including a create-your-own that I packed with all the veggies I like and none that I dont. :) We will be back for sure. Just a lucky choice turned out great!
