Let me start off by saying Im not vegan let alone vegetarian BUT this place is amazing! I dont miss meat when I go here! My cousin, who is vegan, introduced me to the CD and fell in love with it. We go to the Logan Square location. Love it. Parking is a bit hard but not as bad. Mainly parking meters but if you look there are some streets where you dont have to pay. Love the decoration. Its loud so dont expect a quiet restaurant. Music and just really happy people enjoying the food. For appetizers order the Thai Chili Wings. They are not that spicy. Well to us. It has this amazing flavor with dipping sauce that goes well with it. I try to order different sandwiches but my favorite is the Spicy Crispin Chicken! The waffles fries are amazing and crunchy! They have this seasoning that doesnt over power. They also have sweet potato fries but in general Im not a fan of sweet potato so I rather stick to my waffle fries. The shakes are oh so good. Makes a great dessert for after. I really have nothing bad to say about the food or location. The people who work there are very nice. Always pleasant and genuine. I will definitely be bringing friends here. A place to try amazing food and great atmosphere.

The Chicago Diner is amazing! Veggies and non-veggies alike will love the food choices here! My personal favorite is the country fried steak! Nearly everything on the menu is homemade and fresh. Even the drink choices are natural and sustainable. This is healthy, hearty eating with conservation and sustainability in mind. The prices arent unreasonable at all and the service is always exceptional. I will say, however, the restaurant is not as child/baby friendly as others. It is small and the tables/booths dont allow for much room, particularly not any room for a car seat or high chair. We had to hold the baby the whole time and the table next to us had to wear their baby the whole time. It wasnt an issue and both babies were fine, but it may not be an option for all patrons. We prefer the Logan Square location because the parking tends to be easier to find and it is often less busy than the Wrigleyville location. GO HERE! Even if you are not a vegetarian I guarantee you will be able to find SOMETHING on the menu you will love!!

Great modern atmosphere that is perfect for eating with a group or eating solo. Overall, too much hype for a place with mediocre vegetarian food. Skip the taco salad and the thai basil stir fry. The taco salad chorizo is served room temperature so the fake cheese doesnt melt leaving no room for texture. It might have been different with black beans, but for some reason my taco salad didnt come with black beans as advertised on the online menu. Waitress also didnt ask us if we wanted tofu or tempeh on the thai basil stir fry, so we ended up with the default option which I suppose is tempeh on brown rice, so essentially brown rice on brown rice? If I could order it again, I would ask them to ease up on the sauce, order it extra spicy because it seems to be more salty than spicy, and go for the tofu. The best part of our meal was the sweet potato fries with some orange mayo based cajun sauce that was delicious.

Stylish. Dark Bathrooms. Square Layout. Extremely attentive service. Shakes that shook. Food that was devoured. Fast Service. A national vegan institution. However, I felt a small sense of aloofness from the waiter. Didnt take it personally, but I got the feeling I was just there to eat, pay, and please move on. A certain lack of humanity in our interaction. Im not going to knock a full star based on that, but lets just say that it was noted that I didnt exactly feel 100% welcome there beyond my cash contribution. But, man, the food. I will definitely be back. You never know, people have off days. I went to another Chicago Vegan place and had one of the best waitresses Ive ever had, period. It makes a difference, that service thing. You end up treating the waiter with a little more joy, and it carries forward.

Dont get me wrong, I LOVE the food.I regularly come in here for a gyro and some waffle fries which are to die for. What I do have a problem with is the service. Every time Ive dined in Ive had to ask multiple times to have my water refilled and twice Ive gotten entirely the wrong order. I particularly dont like the white girl with TERF bangs and a ponytail who sometimes is the hostess. Shes very rude and talks to me like Im an idiot. I come in a lot to get fries to go and as soon as I step in the door and see her working, I immediately turn around and leave because I cant stand having to interact with her. TLDR please do something about your service ! ALSO not as relevant, but the music is also SUPER loud (why I almost always take my food to go lol)

The menu and service can be hit or miss....but if you seek an old-school diner feel without the standard greasy spoon menu, this is the place for you. The space is very inviting, and tastefully decorated using eco-conscious reclaimed furnishings. I have tried many things on the menu, but always return to either the Veggie Burger or Portabella Panini (as everything else I have ordered, Ive been mildly disappointed with for some reason!) The servers are very knowledgable on the menu and ingredients to account for all dietary concerns, but when things get busy, it definitely feels understaffed. If you enjoy peanut butter and chocolate, definitely try the decadent Peanut Butter Puck for dessert...and enlist a friend (or two) to help!

Great vegan food. All your favorite diner foods, better than you remember and beyond the scope of an average daydream. Just like the Halsted location, those vegan wings are still the item on the menu that is amazing. Nonetheless, they have a different selection of some items. They still have a good selection of beers, a great bloody mary, and a fantastic line of desserts. But, they have a whie bloody mary and a handful of unique tricks up their sleeves over here. Service is still always great, but getting seated can be a bit of a chore. The seating also has a kind of cramped feel, but it does feel like they are doing the best they can to squeeze people in comfortably.

Ive been craving a Reuben for months (one of the hardest things for me to give up when choosing to no longer eat meat) and this did not disappoint. Seitan, saurkraut, vegan thousand island dressing, and the option for dairy or vegan cheese on marble rye bread. I chose brussels sprouts for my side dish which were cooked in a balsamic vinigar. I finished my meal with a vegan chocolate chip cookie dough milkshake that was no joke. If I lived closer, I would be eating here weekly. Fortunately enough, they sell cookbooks providing recipes for all of their dishes so I will now be able to make these dishes from the comfort of my own home.

My fiancé and I went here for dinner and it was one of the best dining experiences Ive ever had! Eleanor, the manager was our server, she was fun, outgoing, and had so much energy and was very invested in making our experience as fantastic as possible! The poutine was my favorite thing on the menu, a vegan delicacy that was creamy, cheesy and delicious! The rest of the food was very good, not amazing, but very good, but the atmosphere and attention we received made the entire experience phenomenal. I cant wait to go back to try their brunch and famous vegan milkshakes!! Would highly recommend!
