Work in downtown and have eaten at Budlong in Revival Food Hall on several occasions. Sadly, today I had an unpleasant experience. Have generally thought the spicy chicken sandwich is overpriced for what you get...$11 for just a piece of chicken, a very small dollop of slaw, and just enough sauce to add color and flavoring. But today the quality was horrible. The chicken was smaller than it has been and extremely OVER cooked. Could hardly cut or bite into it. Dry, stringy, and other than the very light coating of sauce, had absolutely no flavor. Add to that the sparse bit of slaw included and cold brioche bun, this sandwich has to be one of the worst Ive had. Most fast food restaurants do a better spicy chicken sandwich. Wont be trying any more. Too many other great places for lunch in downtown. Too bad since its closer but have to say Roost does a better job and served on a homemade biscuit is perfect!

One of the best fried chicken restaurants in Chicago. Crispy and well seasoned "Nashville hot" style chicken, delicious biscuits with a peppered (not spicy) butter and tasty cheddar mac & cheese. The ability to choose the level of heat is a appreciated. I had the "classic" level and found it to be hot without being too uncomfortable. One of only 3 places that I will go out of my way to get fried chicken from (on the north side) and no, honey butter isnt one of them. The Roost and Ms. Ts are the other two. Unlike those two, which require a wait of 20-30 minutes, The Budlong had my food done and at my table in less than 10 minutes and everything still seemed fresh and moist.

So I was here a month or two ago and loved it. There was an issue with my order, but they did no hesitate to take appropriate actions to correct the issue. I remember the first time I had hot chicken in Nashville and thought, how is this not a thing everywhere. KFC rolled it out and I tired it and never tried it again. The fried chicken is damn good and so are the biscuits and so is the desert. I feel like they have made the dishes a little more refined that it is supposed to. But by no means is it a bad thing. If you like hot chicken I would definitely recommend. If I didnt live so far from them. Id frequent more often.

Nashville hot fried chicken is delicious, perfectly crispy skin, spicy levels ranging from just-a-dash to seriously-on-fire, great biscuits, and tasty southern side dishes make Budlongs a must visit restaurant if you like any of those things. Most recent visit was for easter brunch and they execute that with the same winning strategy, the biscuit French toast, chicken and cheese grits, or chicken and waffles are all fantastic. The Founders punch continues the march of southern inspiration, you can get a mimosa but why go for Nashville chicken and not get a drink to match?

I would say this place has good Nashville hot chicken, not great though. if youve had the opportunity to eat at Princes or Hattie Bs in Nashville, youll know this place pales in comparison. But, to be fair, it is good chicken with a fair amount of heat. I got the "hot" flavor and that was a good level for me. I think the chicken I got was overcooked as it was extremely crunchy. I was kind of disappointed in the amount of sauce given. They place the chicken on bread and the bread had barely any sauce on it to enjoy after the chicken was gone.

Really great Sunday lunch experience at this new joint in Lincoln Park. First of all- adorable decor from the moment you walk in. Napkins are bandanas and place settings are vintage looking mismatch darling! Oh but the chicken, the biscuits, the mashed potatoes, amazing!!! All of it. So good and super friendly staff!!! Cant wait to go back for the weekend brunch memo complete with mimosas!

(This is for their Revive Food Hall location): Their chicken is great but their popularity has seen them starting to gouge customers. They used to offer some minimal sides with their sandwich but no longer. Now they are a la carte and ridiculously expensive ($3 for a biscuit...really?). Very disappointing because the chicken sandwiches really are quite good.

Great little fried chicken place with a quaint look and feel, along with a friendly staff. The chicken comes in different levels of heat, and comes with a piece of Texas toast and some pickles. They offer some good sides, their biscuits are huge(and tasty!) And they have a unique version of banana pudding that is great.

If you like Nashville Hot chicken this place is a must. If you like fried chicken this place is a must. Like most chicken places, once you get a few sides the price starts to climb fast, but its worth the experience and compared to a trip to Tennessee, its a bargain! Order delivery from time to time. Best Nashville style chicken Ive had in Chicagoland. Not a huge menu but, just like the best bbq/chicken places in the south, what is offered is done nearly to perfection. Personally, I prefer a smaller, very well executed menu to a 15 page menu covering four cuisines.

Chicken on bone, tenders, biscuit, and Mac and cheese all amazing. Ive had hot chicken in Nashville and this is legitimate. I like spicy food so I had the chicken seasoned Hot, but next time Ill get Xtra Hot. I will be back.

The chicken is juicy hit and messy just the way it should be. I got the 1/4 white chicken extra hot. The biscuits are amazing, and the banana cream pie was a great way to finish a meal.

This chicken has excellent flavor and will definitely give you a taste of Nashville. I went with the extra hot and it tasted great without burning your face off.

Having tried all the want to be Nashville hot chicken places in the city, this is legitimately the only one that comes close to the real thing.

Chicken excellent. Sides are lacking. No fries! No mashed potatoes! No rice! 1 chicken is like 30 bucks and doesnt come with anything else.

Great food. The chicken come out crispy and crunchy but the inside is still juicy. Prices are a little high for Nashville style chicken.

This place has good food, polite service and great ambiance. We come way from the southwest suburbs, 40 miles away just to eat here.

Cool atmosphere. "Off the menu" hottest chicken wasnt really hot to me and the Mac&cheese couldve been better. But nice place.

This is the most authentic Nashville hot chicken outside of Tennessee. Get the dark meat quarter and it will change your life.
