This was our first time here and we went for brunch. We got in and were seated relatively quickly. While we ate, a wait at the door did develop. I got the cheese omelette with feta for about $6. I thought all my food tasted delicious. By no means was it extraordinary, but I still enjoyed every bite. However, the best part was the value. For $6 I got a big omelette, large amount of hashbrowns, and 2 peices of toast (see picture). My wife got a combo of pancakes, eggs and coffee for about $8. Her opinion about the food was pretty much the same. However, her pancakes were light and dry. They sort of melted in your mouth. Some people may prefer those types of pancakes, but my wife like hers dense. So thats just a matter of style. So of you like light pancakes, youll enjoy this place. Lastly, the service was mediocre. There wasnt a single waiter that didnt fast-walk around the place. The servers certainly met all our dining needs, but they didnt have the time to be exceptional waiters. All-in-all, I would definitely recommend this place, especially based on value.

This is a pretty great place. Its a diner type place so you get diner type food, which is still really good and decently priced for the portions you get. I got the chicken Parmesan which was delish. The piece of chicken they gave me was pretty huge (4"x6"). The place is clean and the waitstaff is very nice and attentive. The part that I think sets this place over the top is the extras you get: -Bread basket with butter -Soup or salad -Your own shaker of Parmesan cheese if you get pasta (awesome) Eat here for a very satisfying meal that will fill you up.

Yum! My friend has been talking about this place forever and I just have not had a chance to connect with her yet. I got home after a long day and really wanted a gyro so I went to grub hub. I saw that they had them here so I figured why not give it a try. Something about this gyro was the best that Ive ever had. The bread wasnt great actually but the meat was seasoned awesome. I didnt even eat the bread. Save a few calories since I inhaled the gyro meat ha! The fries were pretty good. Wish they were crispy, but that is pretty impossible in delivery mode.

Very disappointing... Neighborhood restaurant with old style Greek charm. Unfortunately lacking in quality and depth of flavor. Steak and eggs were under seasoned and undercooked, (the t-bone was blue around the bone) sent the food back with the hope of a finished medium product, But I was presented with a well done unchewable mess. Then to top this I was charged for the steak and told we dont cook steak that way. Never again...

If you want low cost, delicious, quick food that tastes like the chef put their love into it, this is the place to go. I have been here, and have been coming here for a very long time, every time it gets better. Breakfast, lunch, or even dinner, the food is amazing! The service is unbeatable as well. Also, I love the authenticity of the Greek food and olive oil, Mexican food here is great too! Would highly recommend this place.

Salonica is my favorite place to eat in Hyde Park. The staff are friendly, though theyll stick to just serving you until you go enough to be recognized. Plenty of food for low prices and quicker service than youd believe (especially for breakfast foods). If you stop by and it looks full, dont be discouraged, theres a back room that almost doubles the seating.

Salonica is by far the best breakfast restaurant in Heidelberg Park (aka Hyde Park). The food quality is excellent, especially their morning omelets and the value is way better then all the over priced average tasting food in Heidelberg park. Especially Valois, that place is overpriced and whack. Also great service with the bottomless coffee cup

First time eating there, their food was great, the prices r ridiculous cheap (for two meals and drinks $22) the portions r rather large, you definitely get more then you pay for. The service was great, our sever was incredibly busy, yet our drinks were never empty and never had to wait. I would highly recommend and will visit again!

My wife had the mousaka and thought it was delicious. Just a few hours later, she developed and displayed all the classic symptoms of food poisoning: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and a slight fever. Now, nineteen hours later, shes beginning to feel better. Gatorade is staying down, so far

What a nice place! I discovered it when I was living in the neighborhood 2 years ago. It has my hometowns name and my countrys food! The food is always delicious and fresh. The service is great and the prices absolutely reasonable. Id recommended to any type customer..

This was the best food we found during our trip to Chicago! Everything was to-die-for, we ordered omelets, mocha latte, Solonica special - excellent breakfast find with an amazing staff - so close to the science & industry museum! A gem!

The cuisine is not very Greek, contrary to what the restaurant implies. Its more like Mexican or an American diner. Dont expect anything glitzy, this is your regular neighborhood diner in college-dominated Hyde Park. Do try the horchata.

I was in here at 2pm and the place was packed. As soon as a group of people left the table was filled again. And for good reason! This place has amazing food. I had the Chicken Pesto Wrap. Ive never had a wrap that was this DELICIOUS!

Good food, lots of choices. Liver & onions!!! Where can you get that?! Yum! Quick, courteous service. Actually the breakfasts between 3 & 4 stars; not enough of that homemade flavor, but good. BLT: good.

Nice Greek family restaurant that serves both classic diner favorites and more traditional Greek dishes. Stop by on Wednesdays if you like mushrooms, their cream of mushroom soup is the best I have ever had!

Amazing food. Absolutely delicious. My grandparents came from Greece so my family grew up on Greek food and theirs was simply phenomenal. I would definitely recommend it and its such a cute environment.

I love it. Its a nice place to have regular meals. It feels warm and just how a diner should be. The food is great and the service is warm. I had the t-bone steak and eggs. It was too perfection.

Im down at UChicago and order their food at least once every other day! The buffalo chicken wrap is awesome and so is all the fresh squeezed juice. And delivery is always under 45 mins! Huge fan!

Great atmosphere and quick service. I love their egg lemon soup (they dont have it all days) and their omlettes (Salonica omlette in particular). Also, great decorations in the bathroom :)
