The young guy taking orders was very blah, disinterested and seemed bored. Given the fact that he was saying the same thing to every person in line which translates to a very mundane day I cant blame him, but thats when you gotta make it your own. The rainbow cone was different, Im not a fan of mixed foods but the flavors surprising went well together. We went on a 90° day and the flavors inevitably blended immediately. They have seating out back under a roof so the shade was much appreciated and theres plenty of parking. A must try!

This place is a south-side favorite for good reason, it has some of the best ice-cream that I have ever tasted, but Im a bit bias, I grew up eating it. On hot summer nights be prepared to wait for the rainbow deliciousness, the line is know to be out the door. its something about the chocolate, strawberry, palmer house, pistachio and orange sherbet combo that can not be beat. I know that its only open during the summer months, so get it while it lasts.

Me and my fiance went there last summer before we got engaged, one of the best dates we have had, She LOVES IT and so do i... hope to return soon, possibly as soon as today, we just had a baby so we rarely have time for ourselves but when we do one of those days we are Definitely going back to RAINBOW... Ive never had a better ice cream neither has she, it reminds us of our childhood... Just gotta love it :)

A summer staple in Chicago. If youre visiting, it is a must try. There is nothing else like an Original Rainbow Cone with the ice cream and the sherbet. The flavors dont make sense on paper but its a different story once you eat it. They also have sundaes, shakes and ice cream if youre not in the mood for an original. There is no seating inside but they have picnic tables outside.

If you have not tried this place you have missed a Chicago Stallworth a place thats been there for 90 years and the quality has not waned one bit. This is a place to take your family and your friends and people from out of town. This place should have Landmark status and the ice cream was just simply die for. Its longevity in itself proves its high quality

Great taste, but not a lot of flavors. You can try their famous rainbow cone, its a mix of 4-5 diff flavors of ice cream. Its a blend of sweet, nutty, crunchy and a big slab new York vanilla in the mix. personally I didnt enjoy it much, might have been one too many blends for me but hey its been around for eons! Try it out, just for fun.

I remember my aunt taking me and my sisters to Rainbow cone when we would visit her. The cones are outstanding and nothing like you would find anywhere else! The lines in the summertime can get very long, but it is definitley worth the wait! My favorite flavor is still the pistacchio. If you are in the area dont miss this gem!!

Traditional ice cream place with very basic flavors. This place is only popular because it has been a staple in the neighborhood for decades. The downside is although they only offer 8 basic flavors they are very overpriced. A small cone (pictured below) is $5. You would spend less at Coldstone and have more of a selection.

They have other kinds of ice cream, but the Rainbow Cone remains the signature and highlight of any visit. The parking just outside is rather small, maybe less than a dozen spaces. As for seating, there is none inside, but there are a couple picnic tables set up out back.

The Rainbow Cone is a classic. Even though there was a bit of a line, we got our cones quickly and efficiently. There is no seating inside but we found plenty of picnic tables to sit at while enjoying our cones. You can get other flavors and even an ice cream cake.

Every flavor is different and delicious, its not like every other rainbow ice cream where they all taste like orange. I am not a fan of pistachio but wow theirs is delicious. Kids can be little friendlier but ice cream is amazing. You have to try , soo soo good

Rainbow has some great flavors in a great atmosphere. Dont be scared off by the lines in summer; they move quickly. Their pistachio and Palmer House(Rainbows own flavor of vanilla ice cream with almonds and cherries) are both the best youll ever have.

At first I thought "What the heck?! All these flavors put together?! Thisll be interesting." But I have it a shot and I am so grateful I did. It was such a yummy ice cream cone. A little expensive for the serving amount but it was very delicious.

Unique Experience. I tell everyone they have to try it "as is" at least once. Id never order most of the flavors that make up a rainbow cone, but somehow together they all "work" to make a delicious and unique treat. Its a "must try" for sure!

I was so amazed at how delicious this combo of ice creams can be (the infamous rainbow cone). I am not a huge ice cream lover, but this combo was definitely a unique treat….another amazing Chicago institution and destination you must try.

The one place that still carries the original Bubble Gum ice cream!!! The staff is very friendly and the ice cream is always good. There is outside picnic table style seating. The sad part is that they are only open during the summer!!!

My mother told me about the Original Rainbow Cone ice cream shop five years ago. I fell in love with the ice cream at this ice cream shop, so much so until I will only eat ice cream from this ice cream shop... Love it☺️

Rainbow cone is one of the true "Chicago" ice creams you dont find elsewhere. I always take family here from out of town. You gotta get the actual rainbow cone, and bring a quart home for when you want it again later...
