I cant remember the last time I was here. I came here with my family after a funeral. We ordered the typical banquet meal. Some standouts were the roasted pork (did not like the pickled vegetables underneath) and the beef and gai lan. But I did not like the tilapia (oil tasted old/smoky, which imparted a weird aftertaste), sweet and sour pork (not very crispy, just felt like it was slathered in sauce). I thought it was interesting to be served a sweet ginger dessert soup with noodles rather than balls or tapioca. Additionally, when you enter the restaurant, its like youre transported back to the 80s/90s. However, service was prompt although we were pretty much the only customers in the entire restaurant.

I really only come to Evergreen for family feasts. If youve never had an Asian family style dinner, its the menu written completely in Chinese and value priced because you cant read it. The family style "prix fixe" usually consists of 8 to 10 courses and a number of the dishes have some old world meaning. Its a great progression of food and covers all of the meat and vegetable groups. Evergreen is an old school style restaurant that serves the old school people of Chinatown. This isnt a bad thing and I hope that they continue to consistently serve the traditional family dinners that Im accustomed to for celebrations big and small. Evergreen is a good place with good food and decent service.

Great food, and reasonable prixes with something for everyone. I have been a patron for over 10 years. My last visit included 14 in our party including 3 children. Our orders included seafood, noodles, egg fu yung, orange peel chicken, and vegetarian dishes. Every person enjoyed their food. Note the portions are large and meant for sharing. We utilized the rotating disk on the large round table to share. If you are looking for upscale decor, this is not your place. It is clean, good service and great food!

I love this place! The food is incredible, and the Kung Pao Chicken is the best I have ever had. The service follows a traditional family style place, so entres are brought out at different times with the impression being that you are all sharing each one. We did not get it at first, but caught on after a few trips. The service is not as good as it could be, but the food is so good that I can hardly be bothered to care. It is a bustling hip place in Chinatown, and I love it!

heard a lot about this place.but all was wrong.place was not fully crowded but still it took more than 15 to 20 min for the waitress to take the order.and another 30 min to serve.and food quality was the worst i have ever had.staff is also very rude.actually they are not bothered what we want.this was my first visit so i asked for spicy food and in reply waitress told me she will get me spicy sauce separately.

The wait staff and management at this restaurant are VERY rude. We waited 15 minutes for a waitress and then watched as every table that came in after us was served very quickly. No one ever came to ask about drink refills or if our meal was satisfactory. We were ignored the whole time (except when it was time to pay the bill). Not a pleasant experience.

This place was like something out of the 90s food was decent had the group special where 10 people sit together and eay from a lazy susy, the waitress were in light speed mode getting out all the dishes at once. Im from NYC the ChinaTown there move at light speed mode but not as fast as these guys. Good place to eat if you can wolf down your food.

Chinese cuisine - The eggrolls were about the third best I have had in Chicago. The sesame chicken was just right. The vegetables and noodles came in a generous portion and took it home. The staff is friendly and the place is clean. We did find a hair in one of our dishes.

Food is good for real Chinese people if you are looking for something authentic. If you are looking for good service dont expect much. This is a place that will always give you good food at a good price.

Everything about our experience was excellent. The food quality, the portions, the service, and the cleanliness. We found our new favorite in The Evergreen Family Restaurant!

Man, you tourists need to get a grip. Sesame chicken and egg rolls arent even chinese food. Theyre just fakes made by the Chinese to satisfy tourists.

If you are in the mood for Cantonese - this is the place. Many Asian/oriental faces here. So if the locals like it, it must be good.
