When I first moved to the neighborhood, it took me a couple of weeks to notice the window painting: "coffee • tacos • biscuits." a quick search led to the website, which was intriguing all alone. Then I finally visited, & Ive been back as often as possible, both for the food (those items in the window are signatures, not the complete menu -- which is also vegetarian-friendly) & for the service & atmosphere. It was already easily on my list of 10 best cafes in Chicago, & then they added Sunday brunch. when I introduce family & friends to my neighborhood, CEX Café is always our first stop -- & sometimes the last, too.

Yes. Yes. Yes! Finally got the chance to go and have breakfast here. Folks were talking about it on Facebook and we finally went. We were torn between fish and grits, or the pancakes. Next time I will have the shrimp and grits, but this time I had the pancakes! OMG! So good! The pancakes were perfect size, and were delicious. Very affordable and there is a wonderful story about the restaurant!

Since the time of discovery, Ive become a regular at CeX Café. The staff is friendly, the coffee is strong, and the food is great. They have tons of space with power outlets at every other table and free wifi, which makes it a great meeting & working spot. Plus: its right off the green line, so its easy to get to and easy to direct others to (which I do frequently!)

Their tacos are way better than those at the Taco Station on 53rd. Friendly service and atmosphere. I would like to see them expand their breakfast menu and add more variety to the pancake selection. Good job guys

The food and coffee are great, the ambience is very relaxing, and the prices are very reasonable. The Currency Exchange Cafe is a well-kept secret on the south side. I love bringing friends here!
