We have wanted to try one of these places and finally got the chance to when we visited the Navy Pier in Chicago. First thing, I hate that you have to walk through their merchandising store (like Cracker Barrel haha) before you get to the restaurant. I am glad I dont have small kids to bug me to buy them one of everything! We were seated quickly and the waitress made some recommendations. We ordered the garlic bread as she said it was to die for (it was not. I have made better stuff in my toaster oven at home). I had the Shrimpers Heaven (shrimp 4 ways, with dipping sauce and fries). It was a bit pricey but looked to have a lot of shrimp. I asked to remove the coconut shrimp from the basket and to have them replace it with any of the other types (grilled, fried, tempura) and was told it would be no problem. My husband got the BBQ Cheeseburger (with fries). While waiting for the food, the waitress came back and we played Forest Gump trivia. I think she was getting a bit exasperated at the end, when she couldnt stop my husband, who remembers every inconsequential trivia fact but cant remember his own birthday :) Hubby enjoyed his burger, however, when my shrimp arrived there were coconut shrimp on my plate. I pointed this out to the waitress who quickly brought me another selection of fried shrimp. I particularly liked the grilled and tempura shrimp, the fried was like something you would find in the freezer section of a grocery store. Fries were kind of squishy. Service was fast, food was good, but when we got the bill, I noticed they had charged me an extra $1. When I asked the waitress about it, she said that was what they charged for making a change to the shrimp order. After pointing out that she never mentioned this to me (nor could we find it on the menu). She spoke to the manager, and the charge was removed. So it ended up fine but still, being charged for making a minor change to an item, at a chain restaurant? Wow. So, the food was good, service was fine, prices were a bit high but it is Chicago. Glad we went but dont need to go again.

Went here for my sons 6th birthday (party of 3) and was very disappointed. Starting with the host, whom with we requested to be seated at a both and was told that the (then empty booth) was reserved for a party of more than four. Not 5 minutes passed before a party of four were seated in that same booth, another booth emptied, and a party of two were seated in that booth. Another 10 minutes passed before we decided to get a waitresses attention as we were also have not been waited on for the 15 minutes since we have been there. The server we finally did get to take our order claimed our table was not assigned a server (which is either a lie or the host didnt know how to do his job). The icing on the cake was when a waitress dropped something from the booth next to us and spilled some type of sauce on my like new shoes. The shoes werent the problem as it wasnt that big of a mess, but as I was checking to make sure I didnt have anything remaining on my shoes the waitress turned to me and said "Are you gunna live? you gunna make it?". Seriously? Note: Waitresses dropped something twice since we arrived, that I was aware of. Food: The quality of what was ordered did not equate to what we payed for in my opinion. I believe I payed 3.25 for a glass of Pepsi. Surprised we didnt get charged for the water. Environment: LOUD!!! And not the customers either. Every 10 minutes they were yelling, not singing or whatever, to celebrate something for somebody. Was a complete put-off to us telling them it was our sons birthday. Will never go here again...ever....would rather gouge my eyes out.

My experience at Bubba Gump at Navy Pier was very suprising we had called a few days ahead to ask for a reservation for a group of about 25 to 30 people to show up well our message to us from Cecilia at the resturant and she advised us that we need to get to the resturant a little earlier because it is a Saturday and they expect a large crowd and plan to be busy. She said that someone should get there early to reserve the space because it is a first come first served basis when she found about the size of the group when she mentioned about the day and activities at Navy Pier. When we got there we were told that there was a wait for an hour and twenty minutes for us and had the managers come out to talk to us which was fine to reassure us that they were moving fast with trying to accomodate us during this process. One of the managers said to the Birthday Girl that we will give her a free drink to accomodate for the mixup with reservation and the wait but then comes back and to say that I spoke to one of the other managers about the drink and told her that she couldnt give her the drink that was a real eye sore for me. Our waiter Matt was okay not bad but okay got real frustrated easily when asked questions about the menu, presentation of the food was okay fries were luke warm and some of the shrimp dishes werent all that good.Im a person that will give cedit when credit is due but this was the worst experience Ive had from a resturant in a long time me and the rest of the group felt that it was not all it was cracked up to be.

Disappointed in limited menu selection. Overall food was okay with exception of Cajun Shrimp appetizer - very poor - no flavor. Gumbo over spiced (and I like spice) also lacked body. Decor - To touristy and seemed a little drab. Didnt look dirty but didnt look sharp. Service was good except substitute server brought cup vs bowl of gumbo (Waited four or 5 minutes for exchange!) and this was a main course selection. Server or Cook or both were slow in correcting. Also, food was slightly over priced for both quality and quantity. This Feedback Form is skewed to positive need more selection to respond to specific topics but. that is what additional comments section provided for. Im not sure how Bubba Gumps became part of the Landrys Collection of Restaurants. Its not even close to being in the same league as Charlie Crab or Mortons Steakhouse (other Landry Restaurants). This is definitely a tourist trap! As momma says "Stupid is as stupid does!" I wont be back and I wont recommend. I will stick to my home Landrys Charlie Crab in Grand Rapids, MI. Red Lobster has Bubba Gump beaten by an Alabama mile and Red Lobster isnt even in same league as Charlie Crab.

Do you like Shrimp? (I do) Do you want shrimp done in a huge variety of ways? (yes)! Well, Bubba Gump is clearly one of the places to go! Obviously as all Navy Pier places you are going to expect a bit of pricey menus and the joint to be super busy - this is of coruse always the case. The food though? Totally worth it (if you are a shrimp lover.) Ive been here a few times and while there is plenty on the menu from sandwiches to seafood - all I want though is the shrimp. Personally the Im Stuffed! Shrimp is one of my favorites with Shrimpers Heaven bring the runner up for the variety. (I really want to try the Fajitas as well as they looked pretty great.) OK I get that there is a Forrest Gump theme thatll get tied in. I really felt it was more annoying over fun but whatever. It didnt ruin the experience for me. That part (which is of course one of the main selling points) wasnt what I was there for. If you were a fan of the film you might enjoy the atmosphere more than I did but as a shrimp lover I can honestly say its worth your time. Mmm crustaceans. *Drools*
