Lets get this out of the way. The food was great. We ended up getting a cheese plate for an appetizer. Our server was really helpful as well as she ended up picking out all the cheeses for us and each one was outstanding. It was really a great experience as far as the quality of the food goes. Not to mention the seasonal risotto that captured the essence of the ramps in a flavor. They were out of the rillettes that I was looking forward to but I did like the pate I had instead. The main problem was that the kitchen was painfully slow. I think this might have been heightened by the fact that it was slightly chilly and we had seats outside, but we waited 20 minutes for them to essentially cut cheese and put it on a plate with accompaniments. Another 30 minutes to get the risotto and pate out after we were done with the cheese plate. I would have liked to tried desert, but the extreme wait times made us not want to stay. Our server did a good job and checked up on us often, but at a certain point awkward apologies only go so far.

The wines, the cheese, and the service are all great at Bar Pastoral. The atmosphere and the ambiance in Bar Pastoral is perfect for any date night, or as a group night with friends. It is quiet, nice, and the food is incredible. Furthermore, the staff is very knowledgeable, and great with recommendations and answering any questions. Also, their outdoor seating is a great option for a nice evening or afternoon. They also offer specials and daily deals - which allows you to try new varieties and different options that you may not have tried otherwise.

This is one of my favorite neighborhood spots. While there are many great places to grab a quick bite to eat in East Lakeview, Bar Pastoral is a great option for a quiet date night or evening with friends. I recommend taking a seat at the cheese bar as it is a great way to learn about the different varieties of cheese they carry in the restaurant and the staff are more than willing to answer any questions you might have and offer samples. They dont take reservations, so be prepared to kill some time walking around the neighborhood.

Such a shame, came for brunch and was very disappointed. Extreamly slow service, felt bad for the server, he was clearly the only one working. Food was not good when it finally did arrive. May have just been an off day but I wont be back. If you do decide to go do not order the scones. They only flavor that really comes out is the baking soda.

Buy their fresh bread! The best are their beer bread and olive bread. The beer bread has mashed potatoes mixed in the dough and the crust is baked with beer. Their sandwiches are flavorful, however, I dont like how difficult it is to chew the sandwich bread. I love the low key atmosphere, perfect for drinking wine and eating cheese.

If you dont know wine, peruse the list at Bar Pastoral and youll never choose wrong. All the wines are priced the same, so you wont have to sacrifice taste on a lower-priced glass. The best part: every cheese on a board comes with its own perfectly paired accompaniment. Blue cheese with rich caramel sauce? Yes, please.

Had a raclette party. Food was alright but not worth the price. I believe it was the raclette guys first time...we barely got a drizzle of cheese, nothing like the youtube videos that made us want to try this. Beer was very expensive. Overall was disappointed.

Delicious and fun wines from all over including Michigan to Italy. Can never go wrong with the sparkling MIchigan wine. Cheeses paired with chocolates, honeys and jams make for a fun experience. A decadent neighborhood jaunt that is not to miss in Lakeview.

Intimate and great decore. The foods are local and from around the world. WIne parings are suggested and you have to try the bacon wrapped apricots, wow.Make sure you go next door and shop for you favorites wines and cheeses and meats to take home.
