This was my second visit to India House and being an Indian, i felt myself ashamed by the food and the quality of food this restaurant is serving in America in the name of Indian food. My first visit was a carry out and the second one was buffet. Firstly the staff was very unprofessional and way rude, the Mexican staff was smashing the plates and the silver ware on our table without saying a single word like the way they are serving to dogs. Same goes for the lady at the counter, she came and without a word put a nan-basket on top of the one that was already having naans (bread) without asking or speaking a single word. Now comes the food. The food was cold and buffet carried out only samosas (tasted like frozen ones re-fried) as appetizers for vegetarians, felt awful. Then the main course carried rice and saffron rice( not much different from the plain rice but it just carried a strands or two of saffron-kesar). The paneer (chesse) curry tasted like one of the worst i every tried, you can sense only tomatoes and their sourness in the gravy and nothing else, on top of it the paneer was coated with a thick red colour !!!. There was some potato gravy as well which tasted useless and then the third dish was also same natured. My wife is a non-vegetarian so, she tried the non-veg delicacies and she complained of raw goat meat in the curry and then she asked me why the staff there is behaving as if they are serving to dogs ? Finally I just filled my stomach with the mango ice-cream but my wife didnt get that chance either as the ice cream finished by her time ! Believe me this the worst eating place I have ever found so far in my 35 year life. I paid up $23 for two people, highest ever in the USA and can tell you that even the smallest Indian restaurants in remote Florida, Georgia and California make far better and palatable food from this restaurant. I myself can make far better dishes from the ones this place served. Either there is no Indian cook here or if there is one than he doesnt know abc of Indian cooking. AVOID THIS RESTAURANT !!

I love Indian food. And this is a ripoff in terms of food and money. If you ask any one originally from India, they will tell you that the food is pathetic. I guess they are lucky as it is the only Indian restaurant in Buffalo Grove. The Mutter Paneer and the Mutton (lamb) and Chicken all had the same TOMATO PUREE flavor (a no no when cooking Indian food). The Kashmiri Pulau (my favorite Indian rice dish) is the worst food you can ever order. If you really want to eat at a decent India House chain then you are better off driving all the way to Schaumburg. I am willing to see who argues about what I have written in my review and I can bet that the person who liked the food in this restaurant is either an employee or some one who has never had the privilege of eating a decent tasting Indian meal. I feel sorry for the people who visit this restaurant and this includes myself. This is because I told you earlier, this is the only Indian restaurant in the Buffalo Grove area. One thing I like about this place is the ambiance. But yes, I would rather sit in a furniture store for 30 minutes, rather than spend some decent dough on horrible food.

Dont even think about the lamb biryani. Its bad. And worst of all, it was stale. The rice smelt bad. Also, i hail from an Indian state known to eat spicy food. So, i naturally responded with "Spicy" to the waiters question "spicy or regular". But i never knew that he would dump the whole bag of chillis and chilli powder in that. I told the restaurant manager that the food is inedible. He just smiled. No apologies. It cost us $13.00 for the biryani. I still ate portions of it. At home, i got a rumbling and upset stomach. To my American friends - trust me, you wouldnt want to risk your stomach with this overpriced, over-spiced and stale food which comes with a dessert of no-apologies. I survived because i am used to eating spicy food - just not that burning spicy. But i can guarantee you will get ulcer the next day.

Visited once, but not going to return. The food is okay, but nothing to write home about ... As soon as I walked in the door, I presented the coupon we had from a standard publication that everyone gets in their mailbox. They acted as if they were not even aware that the coupons existed. We had to talk to 2 or 3 different people to resolve the issue. We ordered 2 Bombay martinis "up with a twist". We got 2 warm (yes, I said warm) martinis in plastic parfait glasses. (yes, I said plastic) Just wandering around on Devon Street, between Western and California (in Chicago), one can do much, much better. If you want a 5-star Indian restaurant, just try one in or around London, England, next time youre in that neighborhood. Perhaps they did not like that my date was black ... ? (Im white)

Went with a dozen friends for the lunch buffet. Food was labelled with the Indian names, but no mention of what they meant or what ingredients were in them. The dishes were mostly vegetarian. Two ostensible meat dishes were Tandoori chicken and spiced goat meat in sauce. Neither very satisfying to a meat-lover. Tried a variety of dishes from the buffet. None of them was very tasty. Mango ice cream was great, but the selection of desserts was pathetic. The price was outrageous for what you get: $16 per person, not including a soft drink! Forgettable and unremarkable. Spend your sixteen bucks anywhere else and youll like it more!

There was a time 3-4 years ago when this place used to be quite good with a cheerful and a friendly staff. Since then this place has gone down the hill, relying on past reputation and lack of viable Indian food alternatives in the area. To an ethnic Indian palate, the lunch buffets have very limited choices none of which are excellent. The dinner items, can sometimes surprise you with good quality, but they are not typically so. Add that to the unfriendly hostess, and expensive prices, and you are better off going to Schaumburg (South) or Bombay City (North, near Gurnee)

What a stupid decision we made..some one suggested that the management changed and decided to go on a Friday. We all (8 people) experienced the worst of the worst...food was horrible and tasteless. The attitude of the guy who manages is much worse than the food taste. He has no respect for the customers and lack of politeness is the height. On top of that the buffet was charged with gratuity. The guy refused to charge individually (never experienced like this) as we all sat in the same table. We will never go back. The Friday is messed up for all us.

This is THE WORST Indian Restaurant I have ever been to ANYWHERE in continental United States. Period. To all those who read reviews before you visit a Indian restaurant, always trust ONLY the reviews written by Indians; we are the only ones who know what actual Indian food tastes like! The only positive aspect of this place is.. it has above average ambience. But its of no use as the food sucks to the core. Avoid this place even if they offer food for free; because, you may end up hating Indian food altogether!
