My friend and I got to the restaurant around 8:45am Monday 2/16/17. We ordered our drinks from Sylvia. I had tea with lemon and honey and my friend had coffee. The hot water was not that hot. My friend asked for more cream. Sylvia came back with the cream. The lady in the booth had just ordered. When Sylvia returned, I order 2 eggs, hash browns and toast. My friend ordered biscuits and gravy, eggs and bacon. Then 3 other people came across from us. I did get another pot of water, which was warm while we waited for our order. We waited and waited and waited. The 3 people across from us, received their food and we still waited and waited. Finally, the food came I told my friend to touch her gravy because my eggs and potatoes were cold. I flagged down Sylvia to tell her that my eggs were cold and she told me to start eating and she would get me more. I did not touch the eggs. I looked at my cold toast and only one slice had butter. When Sylvia came back with the eggs I told her I needed butter and jelly. She brought cold butter for my cold toast and asked me how those eggs were and I told her that they were cold, too. She said that she would deduct them off my bill. I asked for my water. When I got the 3rd water, it was warm. My friend now says to Sylvia that her food was cold also. She said she would get the manager. We waited and waited for the manager to come. I asked for one more water. At this point, the water was cold and the manager never showed up. I said to my friend, "Lets go." I never saw a bill. Some lady talks to my friend at the register and says she would deduct my drink and 20% and I said Sylvia said I wouldnt have to pay for cold food. She said that Sylvia didnt say that and I said, "You were not at our table and have no idea what Sylvia said to us." I said that the hot tea water was cold and I was going back to the table to make her feel the cold tea pot and she says that it has been sitting there for 20 minutes. She said it come out of the machine at 180 degrees. I said below zero. She said that she didnt want to argue and I said I will never be back. She was snippy and could care less. VERY BAD EXPERIENCE!!

This was supposed a nice lunch for my mom and myself. The waitress walked up to the table with an attitude and barely greeted us. She, in plain sight, chatted for a long while with other people before taking our order. My mom and I both ordered soup but she only brought out one to begin with and let my mom sit without. After the girl sees that I had given mine to my mom she then brings it another bowl. The soup is supposed to be the famed cheddar soup but this was extremely yellow and looked like the cheese was over processed. When we both tried it the soup was watered down, lukewarm, and barely had any flavor at all. The quality really has gone down. When I finally got my sandwich that was even worse. The chicken that was on it was horribly dry, the spinach was soggy, the grilled onions were burned, I and the pesto mayo was just missing. The manager barely cared and passed me a bs card for free sandwich for another time. The only good thing that happened is I didnt have to pay for the crappy sandwich. Im never going back since it looks like the quality has gone to hell. I dont need a free sandwich from them...I need a good one from a place that cares about their customers and their quality.

This is one of those places that the older people I know really like going to that I never really understood. I have never been really impressed with their menu and while the food is decent (Id recommend the blt if you must come here) it always seems to be a bit pricey for what it is. I think the draw of this place is that it is more of an old-fashioned type of experience with the wait staff (service is usually good), menu, decor, etc. that some people feel nostalgic about. This restaurant isnt horrible but I cant honestly say that I look forward coming here. They do have good old fashion desert and ice cream options here (though you have to consider the cost in comparison to other similar, perhaps more trendy options) including "the kitchen sink" which is a massive Sunday served in sink sized bowl. If you can eat the whole thing you get a bumper sticker (which my brother has managed to get).

This is a fabulous place to eat!!! Very reasonably priced, adequate (but not outrageously huge) portions, and very good food. The waiters were very friendly and helpful (all of them, not just ours). The ambiance is great ... low ceilings around the edge where you sit help keep the noise down, and its very lovely. AND then you get ice cream! While you can indulge in outrageously huge portions, they also offer a small portion that is just a nice tasty treat to end your meal. Great place to try!

This is our familys "go to" restaurant. Great menu always has new things or specials. Fantastic service every time. We recently tried out a restaurant in downtown Aurora, and after a completely disappointing experience there, decided to stop in to Colonial for a sundae to finish our evening. This positive experience salvaged our evening! It looks like they have a lot of regulars there which is always a good sign.

I walked to this place from my nearby hotel. I had heard of Two Brothers Brewing company but didnt know they had a restaurant in Aurora. The menu was extensive with some incentive options. The beer was great and so was the staff. My server was extremely nice and engaged in friendly conversation about the restaurant and surrounding area. Id definitely go back there.

Quick lunch with regret. 8 dollars for the chicken strips and "basket". Three tiny strips no bigger than my thumb and approx. 25 fries, looked absolutely pathetic on the plate. add 2.50 for a salad, and 2 bucks for a drink that doesnt get refilled and it was a pretty terrible experience. Dissapointing since I have loved all other colonials.

Awesome food, superior friendly service, and great prices. If you love variety, home cooking, and great ice cream...look no further. My new favorite restaurant for take out. I am very picky and I highly recommend. When I take the time to write a review, it is either for the worst or the best. Colonial Cafe is one of the best!!!

Im a regular to this establishment. Every server I have had has been GREAT. The food is always good and they make a majority of things to order so if you dont like something in it, they can make it the way you want. I highly recommend coming down here and enjoying a cup of Joe! Oh! And dont forget to get some ice cream!
