If I could give this place no stars I would. Before my incident I really enjoyed their food. It was always fresh and was delicious. However, today I ordered the half rack of ribs and as I ate this horrible taste filled my mouth. While a part of the bite made it down my throat, I was quickly spitting out the other half. My husband asked what was wrong and I told him my meat was rotten. He smelled it and quickly turned his face in disgust. I wish I would have smelled it before I took a bite. Yuck! We called the waitress over and she acted like nothing was wrong with it. Then another lady came out and apologized and told us that she was so sorry that I had been put through that. My husband explained to her that it is pretty bad that they couldnt tell that it was rotten. While our meal was comped I do appreciate that, but I do not think that was enough. I wanted to scream at everyone to stop eating! Obviously I did not do that. I pray I do not get sick. Also, this was half a rack of ribs, so where was the other half? I hope nobody gets sick. I will not ever be returning to Macs again not even for a drink!

The doorman at Macs illegally discriminated against me for having a Service dog, which federal law allows me to take anywhere. After explaining the law to him, the doorman grabbed by hands free leash, which goes around my neck and shoulder, and he choked me with it and forced me out the door. For no other reason than me having a Service Dog at my side. That is assault. I am letting you know, because if he will do that to me, he will do that to a veteran or anybody else who is disabled. After going back the next day to talk to Mac, he would not allow me in his business and screamed at me, blaming me for pushing his employee (who was choking me) off of me. He would not give me the time of day to talk about what happened that day and resolve it civilly. What is stopping him from refusing someone who is in a wheelchair next time? Think twice before patronizing his business again, please. Mac refused to do anything about it. Macs does not want disabled people as customers. By the way, the food SUCKS!

Went because of a referral regarding the pulled pork, it wasnt tender & had no taste except for whatever sauce you put on it. We sat @ the bar before we ate & an older woman bartender served us. She wasnt really from Alton and shared that with us, once we said we were new to the area. She was from St.Louis & had a really bad working attitude. She talked us up, but made off-hand comments inappropriate for us to have had to listen to. We went away from her to a table to eat. Our table waitress was great & that lil girl got a big tip for being the best thang going on in this place. I wish I could recall her name to kudo her specifically. She had recently married a young man working there with her. So if the owners read this...they may figure her out.

Although it is called "Time Out Lounge", everybody calls it "Macs". An Alton institution. Can get very crowded on nice sunny days when lots of RUBs (rich urban bikers) are out for a ride on the River Road. The food is not spectacular, but good and filling. It is also about the only place in downtown to offer a Saturday or Sunday breakfast menu. Had to drive all the way here from Grafton last year when staying the night, but it was well worth it. Not crowded at all for breakfast. If youre into off track betting, they have a huge area for that as well. Easy walking distance to the boat.

Used to be better. No waiting for drinks or food. Now the food has gone downhill as well as the service. This isnt just the lunch and dinner. The Sunday brunch was really bad. Cold food, having to ask for refills and an overall poor experience for $50 breakfast for 3 people. Mac needs to look at his staff and products they provide to his customers if he wants to keep them.

Had their thanksgiving brunch, disgusting! They tried to serve raw turkey to us when we went thru the line, the dressing was like soup, overall terrible. Last yr we ate here and it was fine, this year so bad. complained to the waitress and nothing was done about it. Just wasted $37 for my husband and myself and still didnt get any turkey. Lost our business

I simply love coming here with my husband. Whenever we are in the area we usually try to stop in and eat. The staff and service are excellent as well as the atmosphere! I even brought my boys here one after noon after going to a Cardinals /Cubs game and they really enjoyed it as well.

The food is great! Id recommend the pulled pork sandwich, baked beans, garlic potatoes, everything really. Good home-made style food. Great atmosphere, much quieter than fast eddies, you can actually hold a conversation. My girlfriend and I got two meals and dessert for $19.30.

Service was bad and the smothered chicken was worse, sat waitin for drinks and went downhill from there, I never complain, had two beers a baked potato that could be salvaged from the god awefull dinner, paid the $21.00 check and I will never go back!! Ever!

There are a lot of choices for food and fun in Alton. This one is one of the best. Great food and a sports friendly atmosphere. The employees are always courteous and quick. The bartenders are friendly and keep the drinks flowing. Cheers!

Macs is usually a clean and nice establishment, but their lines are sub par. They are brown and taste like jungle fermentation. Please ask for a fresh fruit before ordering anything that may contain citrus.

If you dont like what you get, theyll fix it. Even if you ordered poorly. True customer service. Mac Lenhardt is the owner and he knows how to run a bar/restaurant/lounge. Better than BonAire....truly!

Great food. Enormous heated patio. Sunday brunch buffet is excellent and inexpensive. Tons of tvs and off track betting make this one of the best places in Alton to catch a game.

Ok place. Has an 80s decor with a OTB inside. If your in the neighborhood is kind of like a five bar. Very spacious. Simple bar food and basic drink selection.

Service, food and pricing is excellent! My only complaint is that smoking is allowed on the "patio" which is totally enclosed with no ventilation.

97 mile one way motorcycle ride for a burger. 1/2 lb with a locally made bun served with tavern chips and French onion dip all prepared fresh!
