On our trip to recreate Anthony Bourdains "Layover" Atlanta episode, we stopped here at the Northern China Eatery. The restaurant, upon first impression, looked secluded and tucked into the side of a building, a bit hidden from the main road. Inside was a very clean and neat establishment, where we were greeted and shown to a table. With excitement, I spoke with waiter (as best as we could understand each other) and told her about our Bourdain-inspired trip. She told us he ordered the spicy fish soup and some dumplings, so we ordered the same without hesitation. This would soon be responsible for my journey with hot pots and various Szechuan cuisines. The soup was exquisite with its bold flavors--a spice that was a seasoning rather than a mouth-burning episode. The fish was tender and fused with the broth to make an outstanding dish. We poured the soup over rice and enjoyed till the massive bowl took our surrender. The dumplings were their own adventure, but were were able to only eat a few after taking on the spicy soup. Dumplings are always a must-eat and I will always be a rebel: I will push the vinegar sauce aside for some soy sauce and order fried over steamed. To each his own. I credit this place for giving me both a great meal and the desire to find out more about authentic Chinese food.

My wife and I have been here many times now. On our first visit, it changed our perception of what Chinese food really is. Each dish was a new adventure. We felt like kids in a candy store. Pork Buns (amazing!), Shanghai juicy buns (soup dumplings), Tianjin fried dumplings, Pork w/cabbage fried dumplings, Lamb w/pumpkin dumplings, Spicy cold noodle, Chefs special spicy beef, TWICE-COOKED PORK (Insanely delicious!!!!!!!), SHREDDED PORK W/GARLIC SAUCE (also insanely delicious!!!!). There is so much more on the menu we havent tried yet.. I wish I had 4 stomachs!!

After Café 101 and Chef Liu closed, this wall-in-a-hole place became my most favorite Chinese restaurant on Buford Hwy. Soup dumplings were great. Pan fried dumplings, home-style pancakes, and crullers were also quite good. Tofu with chicken was nice, so was beef stir fried with veggie. Hot pot with fish, potato salad and string beans were decent. Staff were friendly and efficient. The atmosphere was fine (much better than a year ago when I was there for a brief lunch). Hard to find so it was mostly returned customers. Itll become a regular for us.

This place serves mostly northern Chinese food. My wife and daughter are from Tianjin and this restaurant gets high marks on the food. They have cleaned it up since the first time we have been there. The service is also very Chinese, dont expect it to be fast and overly friendly. The food is great. Chef Liu sold her business so this restaurant is the place to go now for northern Chinese cooking.

Not much looking from the outside, inside only nominally better, but the food was great. Best Fish with Black Bean sauce I ever had. Used to me my favorite at a local place in Kalamazoo, MI, but todays blew that away. The Dumplings with Shrimp were very good, too, And the fried pork was very good. My wife and I will be going back but with many friends so we can sample many dishes.

Amazing! This is one of our favorite restaurants. It has authentic northern Chinese food. The best dumplings ever! The pork noodle soup and the lions head meatball are our go to favorites, however recently weve been living the Ching Chong spicy chicken! Do not leave without dumplings, our favorite are the pork and cabbage and the soup dumplings!!!

Genuine northern China fare. You can go the "tapas" route and order lots of little dishes of dumplings (theres a great variety) or go for the entrees; either way, you wont be disappointed. Only thing is that service can be a little slow for such a small place, so just be content with sipping some more tea while you wait.

This place is a hidden gem. The location is tucked away and the sign does not do a good job of advertising. I only came across this place because another friend introduced me to it. So far everything is excellent. The lamb soup is thick and very tasty I also highly recommend their fish with/corn bread and tofu.

Anybody who rates this place less than five stars has no idea what theyre talking about! This is the best Chinese food Ive ever had even better than in China. Ive never been to China but Im sure if I went it wouldnt be as good as this! Anthony Bourdain featured it on his show and gave it 5 stars as well.

Wow their food is awesome. The lamb and pumpkin dumplings are my favorite and their hot tea (which comes standard) is great....doesnt need any sweetening. This hidden gen will be our new go to for real Chinese food.

亚特兰大最地道的中餐馆。味道和国内的一样,不迎合老外,不搞美式中餐。

They steal money from your account if you pay with a credit/debit card. I went there and tipped $1.00 for a $17.01 check and someone changed my tip from $1 to $7. Also they are a bit rude.

A hidden little gem of Buford Highway. Smelled of excellent authentic food. The dumplings were excellent, the pork was mighty tasty, and server was excellent. 10/10 will go back.

A lot of confusion with getting our orders correct and receiving the correct dishes due to servers not being able to speak much English. Food was fairly good. I would go back.

Hometown cooking with simple eatery items, buns, dumplings, rice, and noodles. Little greasy but these food items usually are. I had better but then again, I had worse.

Theyre close to my home and inexpensive. I bought the 1 side/ 2 entree meal and it put me to sleep. Very worth it.
