On June3, 2017 My daughter had her birthday dinner at this place. The decor was okay however the restaurant was dark. I had to use my iPhone flash light to see what the beef stew looked like. My daughter told me that this restaurant was just like a maggianos. This restaurant Dont even compare. We had a reservation and yes we started late because traffic was bumper to bumper so everyone e was delayed. They sat us at a table and my daughter was late due to traffic. Do you know the manager came took our table apart claiming he need the table. How about nobody sat at the table he needed so for 30 minutes. Now let get to the service. First of all its suppose to be buffet style and they are charging $30 for a 5 course meal that the waiter and servers serve you a scoop of if salad with 1 slice of tomato and a half slice of avocado. Then they brought out this slop of beef stew. It looked like left overs that people didnt eat. The. Entree was served like they cut up a steak and served each of 2 pieces. A scoop of mac n cheese, a scoop of mash potatoes, a burrito, a half of piece of salmon. Now we were charged $30 and gratuity automatic included. When it was time to pay the bill which came up to $500. We asked they the waitress just break the bill up so everyone could pay for there meal. Well some of the men went outside to smoke but was still there. The waitress Amy said to me that she could not split the bill until all the people were siting down because she did t want anyone leaving without paying. She literally went and asked the manager to come over and explain that we could break bill up because we should have told them in the beginning. Again customer service? All Amy was concerned about was gratuity. Well if the management is reading this I want them to know that I am a business owner. I believe in gratuity and I normally tip 20 to 25%. But when mandate how much I am going to tip them you get what you ask for. Also as a business owner I will let all of my clients know not to visit this restaurant because of service and my experience. Servers like Amy need to be properly trained. She literally accused of us of trying to run out on the bill and it was judgement because we were black. So should I have walked out and accused this restaurant of hiring ex-cons because she had blue/green hair I. Pigtails with colorful tattoos going up and down her arms. Should I have assumed she was a redneck? Because we were black we looked like we were gonna walk out. This was a horrible experience. I would not recommend anybody here. Piss poor. My money is green and spends everywhere. This places Never Again!!!!!!

Maybe we were just unlucky (based on other reviewers comments) but our trip kinda sucked. Ill preface it with this: the service was awesome (although the mandatory/complimentary valet parking was kind of weird). I have nothing against our waiter, who did an awesome job. Staff was friendly as can be. So now the not so good stuff. Atmosphere is okay. I REALLY liked the open kitchen, especially since we were sitting on the 2nd floor and could watch it. Except that we couldnt see it. I REALLY DISLIKED how dang dark it was in there. I couldnt even tell you what color my food was. Speaking of food... I got beef tenderloin (rare) served with mashed potatoes and grilled squash. The squash and potatoes were pretty good, and the steak was cooked perfectly. However, it had a pepper crust/sauce, which is great...its what I wanted and what was advertised....except I could taste nothing but rosemary. Out of a few medallions of steak, I maaaybbbe could taste some steak in there somewhere in a few bites, but 99% of what I tasted was rosemary (with a bit of a kick, since it was served in a pepper sauce). Im not sure who thought that one up, but rosemary and hot peppers dont play well on my pallet, and I love me some rosemary. I ate it, but only because I was being treated for the meal. Im not normally the type of guy to send something back to the kitchen (honestly, I dont think I ever have...), but this one was really tempting. The girlfriend got pulled pork enchiladas. They werent bad, but were lacking for a little salt (a little...not a lot). The biggest thing was they were DRY. The flavor of the pork was great, but it was like eating sawdust in terms of texture. To make matters worse, the dish was served with pinto beans (which were delicious flavor-wise), but they had no sauce at all either, and got really dry within a few minutes of being served. Like...the entire dish just needed moisture really badly. The girlfriends mom scored lucky here. She got the green chile stew. I got to try a bite, and it was outstanding. It had a bit of a chocolate note (like a mole sauce), which played really well with the other flavors. Overall, two stars. The mandatory valet threw me off, and the lighting was abysmal. I get the whole "ambiance" thing with the lights, but when you can barely make out the whites of the eyes of your company, thats just stupid. While service was good, food was not. I might try it again someday, because I hate judging a place on one trip...but I wont be in a hurry.

Agave is one of my favorite neighborhood restaurants. From the outside, its completely unassuming. Inside, theres a warm and vibrant scene. When you walk in, youre greeted with a wall of tequilas. This alludes to the night ahead. They make some of the best margaritas in town... lots of variety too. As for the food, Agave serves up consistently flavorful cuisine that they describe as eclectic southwestern. I call it delicious. My favorites include the Anejo Shrimp, the grilled salmon, Agave fried chicken (its spicy, succulent and filling) and all of the vegetable sides. The honey collard greens, pinto beans and julienne vegetables make for a filling veggie plate. Youll need a reservation on weekends unless you dont mind waiting a while. Service is usually good and they do a great job at accommodating groups for birthdays and other gatherings. They do good in the community, regularly participating in fundraiser nights like Open Hands Dine Around. I like that they offer tequila tasting dinners throughout the year to introduce a variety of tequilas with special menu items. And heres a little tip... sign up for the restaurants newsletter. With it, you can take advantage of their Monday-Thursday night $12 entree special. You just have to be seated before 6p. I know...thats early but indulge your inner senior citizen and save a little cash at the same time.

I had heard so many good reviews about this restaurant and finally was getting the opportunity to see if they were true. We had reservations for 7:30PM and were seated immediately upstairs where you can look down and watch the food being prepared. We ordered margaritas and an appetizer of Calamari. The menu states it is a pound of Calamari. We did not believe there was that amount on the plate, but it looked good so we dove in. The dipping sauces were too hot for our taste and after a few bites decided there was too much breading and not enough calamari. Our waiter was great except he seemed to want to hurry us along and we wanted to enjoy our drinks and watch the food being prepared. We had to tell him quite a few times we were not ready to order our main course. When we were ready we ordered the scallop special, the grouper and the chicken quesadillas. The food was good except for the overuse of cayene pepper. I could barely eat my scallops for the amount of water I was having to drink. The grits that accompanied the scallops were also so heavily seasoned I could not eat them. My friends grouper was the same. So heavily seasoned it was almost too hot to eat. The chicken quesadillas were nothing fantastic. Have eaten better at other places. Overall I enjoyed the experience, but the food was overly seasoned and the restaurant very noisy.
