if I had to sum it up in one word it would be "Horrible". Where do I start, first off I ask for a croqueta and the girl looked at me as if I was from the planet Mars. I asked her if this was a Cuban Bakery and she said she didnt know. I collected myself and said well give me a Cuban coffee, once again a blank stare as if I was speaking in Arabic or something. This bakery brags about being the oldest Cuban Bakery in the US >100 years yet they dont sell any Cuban pastries at all (only 10 day stale guava pastries), dont have Cuban coffee, and dont know what a croqueta is? What kind of operation are they running here? They dont have the most basic thing like Cuban coffee I had to order the closest thing to it which was a watered down espresso which I threw away without drinking it out of disgust. I was really looking forward to seeing this place after reading about it and I drove 4 hours from Miami to experience this supposed piece of Cuban history and this is what I run into. They should be ashamed of themselves for false advertisement. They should be called " La Ultima Bakery" which is really what they are as far as Cuban bakeries are concerned. The original owners would be turning in their graves if they knew how this joint operates, absolutely ridiculous.

While the hamburger buns we bought were absolutely delicious (chewy, soft, sweet, and fluffy), everything else leaves a lot to be desired. Their customer service was mediocre at best; the women behind the counter seemed unfriendly and disinterested and forgot part of what we ordered. We also went there with the intention of ordering their "famous" cuban sandwiches, only to be told they werent served on the weekend... something that isnt posted anywhere on their website or menu. Finally, I was really disappointed in the few bakery items we got to try. The pecan pie was just okay, with a hard, flavourless crust, the guava turnover was too sweet, and the "red velvet cake" tasted like dry, mass-produced white sheet cake with red food colouring in it and a weird, powdery frosting on top. If all youre looking for is bread items (cuban bread, buns), then you might want to try this place since the prices are decent and its easy to get to. Otherwise, dont pin your sweet tooth on it; Ive had better cakes and turnovers out of a box of mix.

Ive been looking for a bakery like the one I grew up with in Butbank California. Portos is the best and I was hoping for the same. The service was fast but they ran out of the meat pies and everything I wanted to order. It makes no sense to me to run out of something in a bakery. Why not just make more? There also wasnt a kid menu. Parking was insane and crowded. We were almost hit twice. But I think the main reasons this place doesnt get 5 stars and dissapointed me is because theres no tables to eat. No tables to check your food. We were rushed through and waited in an overcrowded storefront. We left with only half our food feeling displaced without a place to eat. We ended up parking at the Burger King parking lot to eat. Which is a good thing considering we didnt have half our food or napkins.

They went from civilized and authentic to TERRIBLE and inhumane. This place is extremely busy throughout the entire day. The assorted italian cookies no longer taste the same and are insanely small now, the éclairs are dry and the custard is sour/bitter. The new girls upfront are... "unprofessional and rude" cannot begin to describe them. It upsets me because I grew up on 15th across Cuscaden park and I used to love going here! I miss the old Segunda Bakery. Oh and they will ALWAYS get your order wrong because as busy as they are, who orders upfront and pays first? What if I change my mind or they grabbed the wrong item or would like to purchase something else? Everything is so shrivled up, crusty, dry, and unappleaing to the eye. So not worth your money but whats the point when nobody reads these?

Best guava and cheese pastries in town!!! The customer service is off and on some days. It can get really busy so the staff may seem to be over worked and a little stressed. They might mix up your order but, theyre very apologetic and do what they can to fix the problem. The service takes long on busy days but the wait is well worth it. The food is great!!! Make sure you take a number as soon as you walk in or customers could skip you in line. It can get really crowded and they cant keep up with you arrived in order. On days that arent so busy youre in and out pretty quick. The staff is very polite and welcoming. They seem to remember their regular customers but, dont expect to get any special service.

The bakery advertises that they are open on Sundays until 3:00, however last Sunday I arrived at the bakery at 2:55 and the girl was locking the door. When she saw me at the door she continued to lockup the bakery. Considering that it was not yet time to close I think her actions were rude. The owner of the bakery should know that as I was leaving the bakery (still before 3:00) I saw 3 other cars drive up, stop and then drive off because the girl had closed the bakery early. I have been shopping at this bakery for many years but perhaps this will be my last time as there are other places to purchase good cuban bread in town where the owners still appreciate your business.

Best cuban period!!!! Always friendly staff. Im cheap and dont tip for picking up a sandwich but every time I go here I always tip because the service and consistency of the hard working employees. Five stars and if they have more I would click on them too. If you never eaten here before its a must, at least once. Its second to none. Notice most other sub/sandwich shops in Tampa and beyond all order their cuban bread from here. And if they dont then they are not about quality because nobody bakes cuban bread better... PERIOD!!!! Thank You La Segunda. Im craving a cuban now and I will see you guys shortly.

Ive been coming here since the early sixtys, i was a little disappointed, i ordered a cuban sandwich that took a very long time to get, and it wasnt that busy, i ordered my cuban with no marinated pork, and no mayo, well i got the pork anyway, and there was mayo on about half the "outside" of the bread? Not sure if the counter top where they made the cuban had mayo on it, or someone was sloppy in making it? Either way it was very messy trying to eat it in my truck. On the positive note, The cuban bread was great, as i remember it over fifty years ago. Nelson
