I drove from Poinciana because I saw a sign about a week ago in winter haven and decided to bring my family. I was surprised how empty the place was. But then I thought, maybe its the location. Its hidden in a back street. Once I walked in the decorations looked nice but dated. The ac felt like it was on high. We walked over to where they had the hot food display and they had a very small variety. We asked for a menu and was handed a paper menu. Not a good look for a restaurant. The prices seemed high but we figured, its a Spanish restaurant maybe the portions were big. My husband ordered white rice, black beans, pork and tostones. My daughter ordered a media noche sandwich and fried yellow plantains on the side. and I ordered Mofongo with shrimp ceviche. The total was $45.00. We sat down and they brought my husbands food right away. Then the executive chef brought my daughters sandwich a bit after. I had to wait 7 minutes before i recieved my plate. We were all served on disposable plates of different varieties. Felt like we were at my cousins back yard bbq. The pork was so salty that my daughter took two bites and pushed her plate away. The fried yellow plantains were over fried, so much so that they were no longer yellow, they were black. The black beans didnt taste fresh and the white rice wasnt well cooked. My Mofongo was small and the portion of cevich only had four shrimps. After we finished eating, we walked over to the pastries and they had a wide variety of pastries and cakes but a few of each. I asked for a cangrejo and the lady said they dont make them anymore that they would have to be special ordered. I asked for a quesito and their were none left. So we ended ordering two cuernitos and one slice of chocolate cake. We took it to go. I opened the box in the car and said maybe they dont have good food but their pastries might be delicious. I took a bite out of the cuernitos and spit it out. For those who dont know, cuernitos are filled with cheese. The cheese was bad. It smelled rancid and sour and it was curdled inside the pastry. The slice of chocolate cake was very dry and tasted like it was sitting in the fridge for to long. I have been a pastry chef for over 15 years and worked in many places. I can honestly say this restaurant has potential, but needs alot of changes. I would start by taking out one of the pastry displays and leave just two. I would cut down on the variety. You have way to many choices to pick from and not enough product. It looks better to have a small variety and a full display then a large variety and an empty display. The hot food display is the complete opposite. You should have a larger variety of food to pick from. The pork warmer should be taken out. While the little plush piggys are quite cute, they should not be under heat lamps where a pork should be. Also, work on your prices. They are just way to high for the portions and quality of food. Pork should be well seasoned but not like a brick of salt. The menu should not look like you printed it at home. Put the menu on the tvs. Make nice menus and put place them in the middle of each table. Over all you have way to many displays and not enough food in them. Cut down on the displays and fill up the ones you keep. I would make more changes but its just two much to list. I hope that it works out for you guys.

came twice during the week to get cuban pastries, and although they arent like Miamis pastelitos they were the closest to one in Lakeland where Im from. Since the place is big and aside from being a bakery is also states to be a restaurant. i decided to take the family on a Saturday at 6:45 and i almost didnt walk in thinking it was closed due to only one car in the parking lot. Just to make sure we opened the door and they were open but no one was inside. Empty and they still had an hour till closing. Let me repeat, it is a Saturday 6:45 pm people do eat in winter Haven right? Guess not. Long story short i had to order my food at the counter, paid 18% tip thinking they were gonna wow me with service. Guess again. They set up the drinks on a tray and when i asked to i pick it up to one of the employees she said yes. Then I had to get up again 3 times to get our food from trays placed on the counter. Now I regretted my 18% tip. Since we ordered bistec empanizado i asked for some lime. Guess what, had to get up and was handed 2 pieces of lime on my bare had, kid u not, so embarrassing one of the employees told the other one that he should have placed it on a plate. Anyways, the steaks were SMALL and looked dark and curled like if they had been sitting in a fridge for awhile. My kids pork sandwich was cold. This stinks was really wanting to think there would be another hispanic restaurant i wouldnt mind driving 25 minutes to. i was wrong.

Today my husband and I we visit this restaurant, overall the place look clean, the food was tasty, however the costumer services show by the employees it was poor and the worst that I had ever experience. I did for dessert an slice of vanilla flan, when I tasted it had an unacceptable flavor. I reach out to the server in charge of the bakery, requesting a exchange for some other dessert, I did get a answer back stating that if I do not like it, it is to bad because they do not accept complaints or exchanges. I do rate this experience as poor and no acceptable. I will make sure that my relatives and friends stay away.

Not enough variety of food, I ordered mofongo and it was dry and cold,in other restaurants they offer a little salad on the side of the mofongo, when I asked they said No we dont hv salad, carné frita was dry, seems to me that the food was sitting there for a while, and the DJ music was loud and offensive for my little kids, we were so exited when we got there but so oo bummed when we left,I gave 1 star because my son loved the cannoli.for desert, too price,I would not go there again

El mejor pan cubano acá en Polk County, los pasteles de guayaba y queso están bien buenos. La música y las banderas te hacen sentir que estas en casa. Te atienden bien rápido y son muy corteses los empleados.
