Ceviche Arigato - an interesting blend of Argentinian ceviche and Japanese cuisine under one roof. Scouring the web one night looking for a place to eat, my girlfriend and I came across this tiny restaurant in Weston, Florida that opened up not too long ago. We werent sure what to expect but decided that the menu looked interesting and "What the heck, lets give it a shot." Walking into the place you cant help but notice the simple but elegant decor throughout the interior. With dimmed incandescent lights, simple black and white photographs of scenery strategically placed throughout and small embedded windows in the walls decorated with stones and bamboo, the place gives off a very serene and peaceful ambiance. Not long after you sit down, a server appears from behind a semi- transparent room divider and greets you. The waiter was clean, polite and well versed in the intricate details of each plate, giving specific examples of how each plate will taste. Intrigued by everything on the menu, my girlfriend and I ordered a taste in each of their top categories, ceviche, sushi and Argentinian entrees. First, we ordered what the waiter described as their best Ceviche - The Aphrodisiac - an amalgamation of fresh fish, shrimp, mussels, calamari & octopus marinated in fresh lime juice, rocoto & soy sauce. The presentation was impressive, served in a big, round plate with the four different sauces prepared in big Japanese soup spoons. Each seafood portion was fresh and tasted amazing. Next, we tried one of their best rolls - The Miami Heat Roll- named after South Floridas prized basketball team. This 12 piece sushi dish is made with shrimp tempura, avocado and cream cheese, yellow and red Peruvian pepper, wrapped in white rice and seaweed a sushi roll and topped with white eel sauce. How this roll tasted can only be described by the implication of its name - fire. Finally, for our last dish, we had one of their prized entrees and our best dish yet - The Lomo Saltado. This dish contains steak strips marinated in a soy based sauce with sauteed onions and fresh tomatoes, served with rice and normally comes with with french fries; however, I substituted the fries for broccoli. The rice sounds plain; however, it is made with a light melted cheese and some type of sauce that gives it an amazing flavor. Bringing this together with the soy marinated steak strips is nothing short of culinary genius. Needless to say, the dish tasted great. I can only sum up the experience I had here by drawing from my past. Growing up in Weston, Florida we have the luxury of having some outstanding privately owned and small restaurants. From Lucilles cafe to Japan Inn, Cheese Course to Tarantellas, Weston is known for creating a culinary environment different from the food chains that have dominated the American culture. Ceviche Arigato has now been placed - in my book - as one of the best restaurants to ever come to Weston. I can only hope that other restaurants follow the example that this new restaurant has now set. From the interior design to the service and the food - Ceviche Arigato is simply a masterpiece.

Will I visit this restaurant again? Probably to try some ceviche which I wasnt brave enough to this first visit. The reason for 3 stars to follow. Read on. The ambiance and decor is very intimate. I loved the first impression I received upon walking in. I was received very warmly by the greeter and a handsome looking gentleman in professional attire......either the manager or owner! We were seated in a timely manner and we all were in a relaxed mood. I had received a glowing recommendation about this restaurant so went in hoping to experience similar. We ordered some fried yuca for an appetizer......small portion aka tapas as we received fried salted corn kernels to begin with. Lots of water needed to dilute the salt. Great tasting. So mom ordered the avocado salad and added shrimp, Dghtr ordered some seafood soup, cousin ordered some beef dish with a mashed rice and black bean accompaniment. He enjoyed it. Moms salad cld use more tomatoes but she was alright. Seafood soup definitely needs more variety of seafood because its loaded with tons of squid rings (cant think of name); the soup base was tasty. I got the grilled seafood dish which I must admit was quite disappointing. There was nothing grilled about my entree. Instead it was sautéed on a hot skillet with some really salty seafood seasoning, a piece of fried golden potato and a mouthful of boiled corn kernels served over a piece of iceberg lettuce. I dont complain about food that I ordered even if it sucks. I have learned to just eat it or not eat it and know never to order that entree again. Warning, theres nothing grilled about the grilled seafood entree. DISAPPOINTED! Reason for three star rating is because at the end, our Server decides to add on an 18% gratuity charge to my bill. I politely reminded him to take it off and that we were not dining at miami or Fort Lauderdale beach with tourists from all around the globe where gratuity is almost automatic. This is a local restaurant and I live in the area. I hope I wasnt tagged with assumptions/stereotypes about people of my race/ethnicity hence the need to place an automatic gratuity on my tab. The server of course took it off and I authorized the appropriate gratuity. I will give this restaurant another chance some time in the future, but my first impression about the quality of food is still Just okay. Nothin to write home about. Thank you.

W.O.W. I left HAPPY. The ceviche flavor is authentic and in my opinion its comparable to the best ceviches that I have had when visiting Lima Peru!! The "Choros a la Chalaca" are also to die for. If you are thinking about introducing the delicious world of Peruvian cuisine to a friend/loved one you will not be dissappointed. The atmosphere and decoration is very classy, the atmosphere is welcoming and the staff was amicable. The gentleman who is gm/owner was attentive and went out of his way to make sure we had a good meal/experience. Dish prices are reasonable and seem to be aligned with Peruvian restaurant market prices. Portions are not huge but they are not a weak serving either. There are 3 big screen TVs that appear to be 52" in size and they usually show sports. Additionally, if you want value and flavor try out their weekly lunch specials priced around $7. They typically serve beef, chicken and fish dishes that vary day to day and feature traditional peruvian dishes. I have tried dozens of Peruvian restaurants and Ceviche Arigato is hands down the best Peruvian restaurant that I have tried since moving to South Florida in 1994. My guess is that they imported a Peruvian chef!!

WOW..!! Where should I start..? This place is AMAZING..!! From the second we walked in the door my girlfriend and I felt like VIPs. We were greeted at the door with a huge smile and handshake welcoming us and thanking us for coming in. The ambiance and energy was awesome. The decor was warm and inviting, and the food... off the chart and I would give 10 stars if I could. The dishes were almost too perfect. Portion, presentation, taste, and most important to me freshness. I cant forget about our waiter Chris... he was amazing as well. His smile and description of the dishes told us he eats there and loves it... overall this was an awesome experience and we plan to go back and hopefully become regulars.
