So, reportedly this place used to be operated by the same owner/management as The Floridian on Kennedy in Tampa, but no longer. I remember getting a great, authentic cuban sandwich at the place in Kennedy. This place, not so much- so Id believe that they parted ways or changed management. First, its not La Segunda Central bread. The bread looks similar to La Segunda, but dont let that fool you, it tastes different. It comes from some 2nd rate La Segunda knock-off bakery (also near Ybor City, but proximity authenticity does not make). Its not even Mauricio Faedo Bakery. My sammy was also cold in the middle. Had to send it back to the press. Thats a cardinal rule violation in my book. They are slicing ham or whatever in the store, but it still tastes like cheap (not fresh) cold cuts. I dont know, maybe you cant make a great cuban sandwich from Cheney Bros. food distributors ingredients. There could be more cheese for the amount of meat, but thats not worth star. Just sayin. But I guess the locals like it. I guess if I lived over here and didnt know better, Id agree it was a good enough sandwich. Oh and Guys, lay off the margarine a little please. Meh.

These "experts" claiming that The Floridians Cuban sandwiches arent authentic...are marginally right. Yet are completely delicious. I grew up in Miami, I know what goes on an "authentic" Cuban and they are indeed the yardstick by which all others should be measured...blah blah blah. However, authenticity isnt always what its cracked up to be. If it were paramount, wed have never been introduced to Tex-Mex, Corned Beef and Cabbage, New York pizza (pizza in Italy is a soggy, flavorless mess on flatbread) or what we here in the states know as Chinese food. Lasagna, Fettuccine Alfredo, Chicken Cutlet Parmigiana, or even spaghetti and meatballs together on the same plate. Those items dont exist in their countries of origin. This is a great, ever so slight spin, on a classic sandwich. Try to think outside the cigar box.

Disappointed right from the start. As we walked in, neither of the two employees at the counter acknowledged us. We ordered the large Cuban sandwich to go, with lettuce and tomatoes, pressed. We paid for our order, and as he handed us our sandwich in a to go bag, we were informed they had no tomatoes but they did put the lettuce on it. For the Floridian to be rated as one of the Best Cuban sandwich places in the Tampa Bay area, how could they not have the necessary condiments to make a Cuban sandwich? Was not impressed with the "Best". Will not return.

Sadly, this place is usually awesome but recently every time I stop in the staff is too busy on their phones to work. You have several people waiting on food while all the employees are on their phones? Obviously the management isnt there watching them any more. Had I been asked a few years ago this place would have earned a solid 5 stars, however after my last 2 visits they are lucky to earn the 2 stars I am giving them. I think unfortunately a place I once sent everyone to for the best Cuban has lost my business.

I ended up coming here because my wife saw the reviews and they looked good. I should have followed my gut to walk out the minute I walked in. Got the Cuban and the Italian shop in my old hometown in Ohio made a more authentic cuban. I finally got to the salami after eating half of my sandwich and got half of a pickle (the small hamburger style pickles). At least they got the mustard right. They were also put of their blue crab and plantains. Maybe they we low on pickles and meat too.

Man me and my wife used to love this place we went all the time for the Cuban and black beans and rice.all the sudden the beans changed they arent even black any more.amd the sandwich is tiny now I literally laughed when I saw the portions of meat.the pork was the size of a doller coin.the best part.the Cuban bread.was hard as a rock.i hate to say it but we will never return there is plenty places around for a good Cuban!

When first moved down, the place was awesome. Perfect Cubans & great atmosphere. Last few times weve went, you could have substituted a salt shaker for the food. Staff is not attentive, clearly does not care. Cant say I blame them, the place is nothing what it used to be. Shame because the location is perfect for a post-beach stop in. Thank god theres a McDonalds close by....

Used to go hear all the time, and tell everyone about it, but have not been in awhile. Went Saturday and the portion of meat on the Cuban was terrible, hardly anything between the bread. Asked for beans and rice and got red beans only and tasted strongly of coffee?? Will not return. Staff young and no management in sight, dont waste your money, very sad.

Food is AMAZING and reasonably priced for being in a tourist area. However, I wasnt overly happy with the clerk asking me if I would like to add a tip when paying with credit card. Its not a sit down service restaurant. You place your order at the counter and self serve. But... I like the kids hustle, he has a future in sales. Overall great place.

Excellent Food and Service, we visited the store in October while on vacation and went back several times. Excellent Cuban sandwich, one of the best we have had since moving to the midwest from Miami several years ago. Not only the food but the service is excellent as well and the prices are great.

Great sandwich, great black beans and rice (with fresh onions, yum!). We were looking for local flavor and we found it! The staff was great. This was my favorite dining experience in my recent gulf beach vacation and hey guess what? Shirt and shoes not required! Would go back, would recommend!

NOT. A. Cuban. Sandwich. I could have made a better one from stuff from Publix. Not sure how it got such a high rating: Cheap ham, Italian salami, crappy white bread. No flavor. Place is filthy, service is slow, and they could care less. Avoid.

This place hasnt changed - have been going here over 20 years. Everyone I know makes a stop here from all over the world and keep coming back. Once you have tried the 12" Cuban Sandwich and Black Beans and rice it is absolutely addictive !

sandwich combo had 2 slices of meat. The black beans tasted out of a can. In addition, the dish included 2 plain slices of bread. Lastly, how can a sandwich shop specializing in Cuban sandwiches not serve coffee? $11 was a waste.

Authentic Cuban. Great to take as carry out to beach. Call ahead and ready in 10 minutes. Pick up extra onions and if carry out with soup, be sure to ask for plastic bag rather than paper. Outside tables are nice.

Best place to get Cubans/black beans and rice/and my personal favorite their ham and cheese sandwich hands down! Have craved nothing but Floridians Ham and cheese sandwiches for the last half of my pregnancy!

Wish we could have these sent to us in Illinois! We have been known to drive 2 hours just to enjoy a Cuban from the Floridian! Great value, amazing flavors, and the leftovers are good either hot or cold!
