We were celebrating success in our business and chose this restaurant to splurge a bit. Our waiter was phenomenal and really talked up their new menu and how they revamped their steak selection. He touted the exceptional quality of the steaks and how they were top tier. My partner made the decision on the steak based on his recommendation. He asked for his steak to be prepared medium well and I ordered the trout. My meal was stellar! However his steak arrived basically still breathing. As he cut into it and blood squirt onto his asparagus we both gasped. The waiter agreed that the steak was unacceptable and returned it to the kitchen to "pop it back on the grill," yet when it returneda second time, the manager brought it out with a huge satisfactory smile and dropped it on the table. It was still crawling across the plate swamped in blood. We then decided that we needed to order something else. Meanwhile as I lopped up the delicious trout I had been sharing it, reluctantly with him (eating alone, I might add). He ordered the chicken and this meal was fine, but my partner couldnt help feeling a bit cheated out of his steak. To add insult to injury he ordered a mojito which was more mo than jito. It tasted of cherry sprite and his glass was filled with more ice than liquid. He ordered a second mojito with no ice to see just how much liquid was in the glass and sure enough the glass came back HALF FULL! Wow!! They didnt even put it in a smaller glass to try and compensate. This mojito was worse than the first. It was mostly sprite and juice and very little spirits. I ordered wine and I must say, I was feeling pretty good, but by now my partner was completely sober and ready to go. We got the bill and yes we were expected to pay for EVERYTHING! Now with my experience in the restaurant industry, I know that if someone has a bad experience and it is clearly the fault of the kitchen, the manger is obliged to offer something as a consolation. Generally they start with free desert. But we were offered nothing but a sheepish apology from the waitstaff, who was not at fault in the least. Not even the chef came out to explain his blunder. Stonewood is not Sideberns but their prices rival them for sure. We were appalled. We pointed this out to the waiter who again apologized and said he would speak to the manager. He came back and offered us one drink each on the house. We begrudgingly conceded, but again were flustered as to why the manager didnt come out to offer this himself. Needless to say, I needed to vent my frustration somehow which is why I am posting this, so if you visit this restaurant you can get a glimpse of what we experienced. I see nothing but glowing reviews of this restaurant, but with first hand knowledge, I can say that they are not always on point!! We wont be back. We work too hard and want to always have a good experience when we decide to dine out and with the new restaurants cropping up everywhere, we will make other choices when spending our money.

I have ate here before and meals were OK. Went for Thanksgiving and the meal was one of the worst that I have had. We ordered the Turkey dinner for all three in our party. On each plate, about 1/3 of the turkey was blobs of skin and fatty gristle. This was not crispy skin in any way. Just blobs of chewy fatty skin. It was pretty disgusting. The garlic mashed potatoes seemed to be close to a 50/50 split between garlic and potato. The garlic and salt just overpowered the potato. The pumpkin pie served was not fresh. It was frozen. There was no attempt to fully thaw the pie out as there was still ice crystals in the pie. You could actually hear the fork pushing thru the pie and you could feel the ice crystals melting in your mouth. I expect a lot more from Stone Wood. This ranks up there as one of the top 2 worst meals I have had in over 50 years. I do not believe I will be going back after this meal. After a breath mint and 2 cups of coffee, I can still taste the garlic in my mouth.

I would like to go on record as saying this was a wonderful dining experience. From the moment we walked in the door, our hostess, Aaliyah sat us promptly. Our waiter, Marshall, was at the table explaining everything to us. We were first timers and Marshall took joy in helping the newbies navigate the Stonewood experience! We were pleased to also meet Dave, who we later found out to be an operating partner. He is definitely a class act and we found him to be very genuine! The food, you probably thought I forgot due to the compliments given the staff, was excellent! I expected the norm from the clam chowder, wrong; it was bursting with flavor! I wish I had this soup available for those days I really feel under the weather! Our entrees were cook just as we ordered. And let us not forget the dessert... Just order the chocolate bread pudding! It is totally divine! Make sure you save room for that pudding!

Food was excellent as always! Service tonight 3/22/17 was not up to normal standards. Our waitress Lauren spent 80% of her time at the booth next to us. I assume they were "special" customers, even the manager came to talk to them. When we were first seated our waitress was talking to them, about 5 minutes later she apologized for the delay and took our drink order and asked if we wanted bread; another shorter chat with our neighbors. Brought our bread and took our orders. Put our order in and brought our salads, then an extended discussion with our neighbors, while she was still talking to them (she never left them after bringing our salads) another waiter brought our food. Another 5 minutes and she asked if all was OK and if we wanted another beer. Next time we saw her was when we were finished eating.

Just finished eating. Not sure I will be back. I ordered the prime rib with dipping juice. I had it in the past and it was the best I had eaten. Today was a disappointment to say the least. The roll was similar to a hot dog bun. It was thick and not toasted. It had been on a ciabatta well toasted roll and delicious in the past. I have no idea why they changed it. I mentioned it to the waiter and he seemed like "so what". My husband ordered a pot pie. It was a gravy with not done carrots and some other veggies. He said it tasted ok but the "pie" was a piece of puff pastry perched on top. Our waiter needed some training. Been here several times but probably not again.

Such a wonderful place - we are lucky in New Tampa to have an upscale place like Stonewood Grill to counter all the chain places (sigh). Stonewood has a great wine list, very good service, in addition to a nice menu of steak and seafood options -- all at a fair price. Weve gotten to know some members of the staff, and they are all really great people - hard-working and smart. Great restaurant for a work meal with colleagues or customers in addition to a nice place for a nice family dinner or a night with friends.
