This restaurant is awful! They dont take reservations nor do they need one because nobody is ever in it. They have really funny things on the menu. (ex. a chicken omelet) We were there on a rainy day and I sent my 2 kids over to get 3 hot chocolates and 1 coffee. We had received a 25$ gift card to the restaurant at the front desk and they wouldnt let my kids just pay the 8 bucks that the drinks cost with it they made them spend the whole gift card! The hot chocolate was awful it was just water with 1 squirt of chocolate syrup in it and my husbands coffee was disgusting! The waitress Mary Liu took forever and was nasty! All of the wait staff are in disgusting clothes! There is no uniforms! When my kids walked in they were all laying on the tables or booths and there was one family eating there! The family said the they couldnt even eat the food it was so bad and the service was terrible. In addition they are charging more then all of the other restaurants on sanibel! NEVER go to the sea star cafe! GO TO CLIPS IT"S THE BEST RESTAURANT IN SANIBEL!

It is a shame to see such a beautiful restaurant with such potential be so poorly operated. They are very understaffed. Standing & waiting 10 min to be seated when there are only 3 tables of guests is unacceptable. We ate dinner there one night & breakfast the next morning. That was enough for us to not go back the rest of our 5 day stay. The severs would disappear for long periods of time & not come out of the kitchen. Only one of the waitresses was friendly & attentive. The peel & eat shrimp were like rubber & clearly had been cooked more than once bc the shells were sticking to the shrimp. At breakfast, the eggs looked & tasted odd. I couldnt eat them. Keeping water & coffee filled was impossible. The first day at the tiki bar with Judy working was almost enough to keep us from going back. Luckily another woman worked it after that. With all of the people that stayed there, I never heard anyone say anything positive about the restaurant. What a waste of the beautiful space & business opportunity...

The sea star cafe was tucked next to the place we stayed and so the night we arrived in Sanibel, we decided to try it! We had a great time and it was the only reasonably priced restaurant on the island! My husband got the shrimp salad. I got the spring rolls and the caprese salad. Both meals were awesome! We have 2 children under 3 and they both enjoyed it as well! (The burger on their childrens menu is huge and very tasty:)) The staff was wonderful! After trying several other very disappointing restaurants on the island; we wish we would have eaten all of our meals here :)

Not that bad Came here because we got 10% off for staying at one of the hotels. Got here, then started reading the reviews and got scared. But to tell the truth it really wasnt too bad. My Grouper was good, sons lobster tails were good, and wife said her chicken club was ok. Drinks were a little on the weak side but come on theyre 9$ instead of 12. But really didnt deserve all the 1 star reviews

Terrible! This place was empty and dirty. It is a sad thing to see a restaurant fail but, with the service we received, I now know why the past two reviews are so poor. The food was CLEARLY frozen and from a big box truck company. And then the cherry on the cake. A bun underneath one of the sandwiches we ordered had a bite in it, teeth marks and all!

Things have definitely changed for the better since we were last here. The restaurant was not at all crowded, but I expect that will soon change if the food quality continues as it is. There was only one server but she was very pleasant and prompt. We hope the change for the better continues because this has always been and interesting place.

The Shrimp Linguini was good. Also, the kids combo was acceptable. Hotel customers get 10% discount. The fries were tasty too. So based on what I have read, the food seems to be getting better.

Had the belgium waffles with my fiancee and they werent the best but still not bad at all. Prices were a bit high but I think thats expected on any vacation area near the beach.

Excellent breakfast! Had the breakfast wrap and it was a very generous size-with a side of fruit! Never crowded and cool decor too!
