Do yourself a favor, do not go this crazy place, EVER!! (you will be more satisified at a McDonalds or a SubWay than this one) Bad Food + Billing Scam = Taj Mahal. Bad Food: Avoid this restaurant at all costs. Eat at a fast-food chain if you have to but do not visit this place. We (group of 10) went to Universal Studio and missed Aashirwad by few minutes, some of my friends wanted to go to an indian restaurant so we have decided to go to Taj Mahal (even after seeing bad reviews, BAD DECISION!!) This place was not neat, food quality was bad. We tried 14 different items on the menu and every single item was as bad as it can be. None of the food is even close to Indian food. Billing Scam: A bill of 350$ arrived and it was not itemized, probably hoping that we will just pay with out asking for the itemized bill. So i asked for itemized bill and they took for ever to bring one (>15 minutes), after reviewing the bill we found that we were billed twice for multiple items with slightly different name (this pissed me off, he was trying to scam us. I have no doubt in my mind). I questioned these items which were inserted randomly in between different items the bill went from 350 to 263.51. I was in no mood to discuss anything so i review my bill again and paid and left!!. I usualy do not write -ve reviews because i take things easy but this guy was a fraud!! Do not try this restaurant, EVER!!

Everything about this restaurant is shocking in the worst way. Before dining here, I never tasted food from an Indian restaurant that was bad. Then Taj Mahal. Chicken Korma seemed to be chicken and a can of tomato paste. Mango Lasi hardly had a mango taste and for a yogurt based drink, it was warm. I think the waiter was a little upset when I requested ice. My go-to vegetable dish of eggplant bhaigan bharta (please excuse the spelling of incorrect) nearly cost $20, but I could not eat more than a fork full. It literally tasted like mashed eggplant mixed with ketchup. The price was terribly expensive which was another shock. My wife and 2 kids (6 and 4) racked up a $130 bill, then I caught that the waiter tried charging us for a curry chicken we didnt order. After carefully reviewed the bill, I was embarrassed but determined to find out why they automatically charge a gratuity without informing me. I had to because the service was terrible. Dining at this restaurant was a complete waste of money, and has taught me to always read the reviews.

Let me tell you about the nightmare I recently had on a Friday night at this place. Our group of four walked in about 9:45PM. They didnt even take our order for about 30 minutes. "Kitchen backed up." Finally brought water. Didnt ask if anyone wanted anything else to drink. I asked how long after the order until the food would arrive. "15 to 20 minutes." It took 35 minutes. Frankly, the seating area isnt that big. I dont know how they cant handle any size crowd in that place. The food was not bad. Then, they added a 15% gratuity to our bill. I said we arent paying the gratuity, and the stupid waiter said, "We do that with all of our customers." I said that I didnt care, and that we were not paying any gratuity for such lousy service. After a small argument, he went back and got the managers approval to waive the gratuity charge. My experience there was outrageously pathetic. Pass on this place, whatever you do.

We went there in February with our Orlando school trip and decided to try Indian cuisine for the first time. Us four decided to take a seat in that intriguing restaurant and were nicely welcomed by a friendly man who worked there! We took place and ask for advices to get the best out of our experience there. He helped us taking meals to share and made us custom ones just to be sure they were mild and not spicy for our taste. He even replaced our glasses of water graduately, just to be sure we never lack drinks or refreshments! Super service, I was glad! Plus, we talked alot about the place we came from ( Québec in Canada ) and the cold winter that was there at the time and joked around the fact that here, we needed at least three coats to suvive, ahah! At the very least, it was an amazing experience and I recommand it to any newcomer and tourists that will visit Orlando and that are in search of a wonderful experience!

With having a restaurant on International Drive, youd think that it would be halfway decent but its horrible! I have eaten Indian food all over the world and this is by far the worst I have experienced. First you arrive and the place looks like a dump. Normally Im not put off by such things but this is something straight out of kitchen nightmares. Secondly I ordered my meal and had to wait 45 min and I was practically the only one there. I didnt order anything fancy and it was just me by myself. After waiting 45 min my food finally arrived and it was bland beyond belief and ridiculously hot. Now before you go rationalize it all thinking that Im just a whimpy white guy, I live for Indian and Thai food. Lastly, they prefer charge you for a tip. To me that is something that you earn and they clearly didnt earn it by having some of the most horrible service and food.

After a few hours flight delay, finally we land at Orlando, we all wanted to have Indian food and Tajmahal was the only choice as it was nearby and was open till 12am in the night, But we had doubts as the review bar was just 2.5, We thought to give a try and to our surprise the reviews were actually wrong and we ended up having dinner there continously for 4 days :-) Positives : a) We tried all the vegetarian subzis here like palak paneer, alu saag e.t.c and all tasted fantastic b) Naan they serve is very huge and it tastes yum c) Starters are good d) Ambience is good and the guy(not indian) who serves food is a very good, please do not forget to tip him :) e) Open till late night 12am So guys, do not believe these ratings, always try to get the first hand opinion :)

Took my daughter for the lunch buffet so she could try Indian for the first time. We both enjoyed the food, but it was insanely expensive for what it was. Although it wasnt explained to us when we were being seated, there are two prices although there is only one buffet table. The vegetarian buffet is $9.99 and the non vegetarian is $11.99. Two buffets, one iced tea (had to ask for a refill), and a water and out bill was $35? I didnt get an itemized bill so I dont know how my iced was, but we were clearly charged for two drinks that we didnt get. The last nail in the coffin is that they add gratuity to your bill (I assume 15%). This sure way to keep me from coming back. There are many other Indian options in Orlando and we will try one of them next time.
