Grille At Riverview was a HUGE disappointment. We have been vacationing in NSB for the past few weeks, eaten at well over a dozen restaurants and Grille At Riverview bottoms the list. We were first greeted by a hostess who obviously does not have any passion for her job. Requesting a sitting for six deck-side was a major problem for her and she certainly let us know that with huffs and puffs accompanied by facial expressions as if she just ate a big bag of poop. Not a good start to our evening. Apart from the exceptional atmosphere, our waitress was the only redeeming quality of this establishment. When the food arrived three out of the six dishes ordered were inedible including “The Grille’s” Shrimp & Risotto" contained a risotto in a glutinous mess, the rich lobster sauce tasted burnt and overly salty. The dish was sent back to the chef to be recooked and returned with no improvement forthcoming. Another dish, the "Citrus Balsamic Roasted Chicken" contained raw chicken, and the aforementioned risotto. The third plate, a special ordered medium-well chopped steak consisted of blood red ground beef. The duration of our dinner was accompanied by a continuous stream of cigarette and cigar smoke to further enhance our dinning experience. Upon leaving, when asked by the manager how our meal was, and we responded, he acted as if we were the only people to ever complain and seemed somewhat indifferent. The Grille At Riverview really needs to get their act together if they expect to charge the prices they do in comparison to the many wonderful eating establishments available in NSB. I think I would be correct in saying that the clientele is a "one off" situation because after eating there you would never return again.

We were at the dune park with our dog enjoying a day under the sun when it stated raining.... of course its florida! We had been there since early in the morning and we were starving. We are from Orlando so we didnt now much about restaurants in the area. We googled dog friendly restaurants and found the Grille. Its nicely located next to the water and a deck, and we could have our dog with us on the outside sitting. Fisrt of all let me tell you the server was incredibly pleasant. The first thing she did is get my dog a bowl of water. And in my opinion that is a kind gesture. We ordered the french onion soup to start and then asked for the fish and chips. That soup was the greatest, I could have kept on eating it non-stop, and it was really comforting for the rainy weather. Did I mention that even with some rain you could seat outside? Its well-covered for the crazy weather. We also ordered the key lime pie and the coconut tres leches; the deserts werent the best, the key lime pie was very tart and the coconut tres leches needed more moist... but the rest of our food was AMAZING!

I have been going there for 12 years off and on as we have a vacation home in New Smyrna. I wouldnt write this review as we have had good to moderately good meals in the past. However, we recently there for brunch for my birthday in March, a party of 10. We first noticed the milk was curdled in our coffee. Then the replacement was not much better. We were getting uneasy about the prospect of the meal as this was a bad sign. We have learned to leave when things look suspicious at a restaurant, especially when I was looking to spend over $200-$300 for brunch. Then we noticed the water had grease floating on top like dirty dish water. We complained with the same results of the coffee creamer. The owner of the restaurant just walked past our table without comment and went into the kitchen. We got up and left not waiting for the rest of the disaster. This restaurant is now on our list of "no come backers". There are too many other places in NSB that are excellent.

The Mothers Day brunch at Riverview had to be the biggest and most expensive disappointment ever. Four people $160+ with tip for basically bacon and eggs. Mimosas were champagne glass size for $7. Typically whenever I have gone for brunch at any upscale restaurant, the Mimosas, at least one, were included. This includes Tavern On the Green in Manhattan. The line was long, and the food consisted of fruit, bread, chaffing dish bacon/sausage/potatoes and french toast (I think it was french toast). Made to order omelets were fine, except everything else on the plate was cold by the time you got to that part of the buffet. Back when Riverview was a fine restaurant, the brunch was much better. Separate stations for everything including Belgian waffles, a crab leg table, and a carving station. Its a shame because the view is very nice, but I will not return to this restaurant when I can get much better quality food here in town for way less expense.

My wife and I have been going to this restaurant for over 5 years. This past week, we took my sister and her friend from Ohio there for lunch (having taken the water Taxi from Ponce Inlet). I thought that the food was subpar , but didnt say anything because I had guests there. Afterwards, I asked my wife: "was it just me, or was the food not up to the normal standard? She agreed that it was mediocre!". Not to mention that it is not cheap ($150 for 4 for lunch). I have always noticed that the owner doesnt acknowledge the customers, as was the case this day, but I didnt really care, as we were well taken care of by Helmut and others. The flloor managers there turn over on a regular basis, which must say something? Even though the snowbirds have gone home, we locals keep the "lights on". Wake up and stop taking us for granted, or youll be out of business! Walter may come daily, but we wont!

I recently dined here and was so disappointed. We came to celebrate a family birthday and I cannot recommend this restaurant. My filet mignon was overcooked, the béarnaise sauce is nothing like the real thing. It was lacking in appearance and taste and should be removed from the menu. The trout was horrible, the chefs vegetables were very bland, too. I noticed that most of us left quite a bit of food on our plates which is very unusual. One of us had to wait quite a while for his meal because his order was left off. The service was lacking with drink refills, removing plates, and in general when needed for something. I felt very embarrassed for our host for choosing this restaurant. This was a party of 10 that dined early on a week night, too. We all decided after talking later that evening that we would not return to dine here again. Good luck if you choose to go here!

The food was delicious, the value was bad, the service was bad. I sat down and ordered my food. It came in a timely order. I was told I get bread with the meal. The dinner got there first. My drink glass was empty five minutes after sat down. It sat on the table about 5 minutes before the waiter noticed and said " Ill be back in one a minuite with some more drink. " another 5 or so minutes goes by and he noticed again and said once more... This happened 4 times before I got a refill. I was finished eating when I finally got my drink and bread. I had Bacon wrapped shrimp stuffed with real crab meat and blue cheese. It was very good! Price wise not so good for the area. Basically, it was $30.00 + drink + tip for 6 shrimp. I normally tip 20%. Not this time. Not a particularly good service after a 30 mile ride to go there. Gordon Ramsay would have ripped him a new one.
